Am I Doing Squats Properly My Thighs Hurt After I Did Them

Am I doing my squats right if my thighs hurt?

Depends on what you mean by “hurt”If you’re feeling it in your thighs it’s just an indication that you’re working your thighs. If you’re sore, it means that you’ve got some good eccentric contractions going on.You could be primarily hitting your thighs and still have bad form. This graphic doesn’t show it with weight, but the concept is similar. The largest difference is that the weight should move in a straight line vertically in line with the center of your foot. The weight should not be on your heels, rather your ENTIRE foot should be pushing.Note that the knees are in front of the toes. This isn’t something you should worry about…it’s perfectly alright for your knees to go in front of the toes. The important thing is to keep your knees stable — in line with the direction of your foot and hip — so that you are pushing up and down instead of in or out.Bottom line, it’s impossible to say based on what hurts if you’re doing a squat right. It’s a complex motion. If you need help, post a video or ask someone at your gym for tips…or just anyone you can find. It’s really hard to tell even looking in the mirror if you’re doing it right.

Why do my thighs hurt so bad from squatting?

When you squat, especially with added resistance, you are increasing the rate at which muscle is broken down and lactic acid is released to power the work being done by the movement. So that means pain in the form of soreness, now if the soreness does not decrease after two days, then you may have another issue going on.Considering you wrote thighs and not knees or hips, then you are most likely fine. You just need to stretch your quadriceps and hamstrings, eat well, sleep well, and do some light biking or walking or jogging for 20–60 minutes to facilitate the lymphatic systems natural clearance of waste. (Lactic acid mostly in this case.)Being sore is a sign of the muscle building process which is good in many cases.Buildimg muscle will increase metabolism, “tone” that area, and increase strength levels. To become really “jacked” requires a strong dedication for most people so if you have a worry about becoming too big, just understand most people make that a priority and focus much effort on it, it usually does not come easy.

My thighs hurt really bad after doing 30 squats?

Why do my thighs hurt so much after doing squats?

Okay, so on Saturday morning (today is just barely Monday) i went to the gym and had a free session with a trainer. I warmed up for 10 minutes on the treadmill and after i did some squats with a big ball behind me for support. I didn't keep count on how many i did, maybe 30? I don't know, anyways, after that i did other stuff for my arms. As i got home i was already feeling sore from the workout. That's normal i know, but by the end of the day my thighs were starting to hurt even more. Then all day Sunday until now my thighs have been killing me! I can't walk properly, bend my legs & sit w/o pain! It hurts the most like 3 inches above my knee. The pain is like if my thighs were to have been beaten up and bruised! I've been sore before, but this feels 10x worse. Is this normal? Please someone answer xx

Lol sorry i wrote a HUGE paragraph, i just wanted to explain everything to get the right answer :)

Why do my legs hurt after doing squats?

I can barley walk properly and when I do it looks funny I can barley sit down without it hurting but I wanna continue doing squats how long will they take to recover?

Sore thighs from Squats?

I'm 22 y/o and yesterday i started doing squats for basically the first time as i've quit smoking 2 weeks ago and would like to gain some muscle and weight. I started off with just my body weight (72kg) doing 12 reps and then after that i held 2 12kg dumbbells in each hand for added weight and only managed to do 10 reps! It was pretty painful to say the least and this morning my thighs were killing me! Lol Question is, i wanna do more squats today but scared if my thighs are already sore from previous day i will only injure myself by overdoing it if i do any more today!.. What do guys think? Should i do some today and block off the pain or should i be sensible and patient and wait a few days till my legs properly recover!? Thanks! :-)

I always get sore thighs after doing squats. How can I get rid of this?

Dear reader, sore thighs or sore muscles are a non-negligible part of working out. When you workout (or squat) your leg muscles such as quadriceps (muscles of thighs), glutes (muscles of hip) and hamstrings (muscles of the back thigh) they go under stress and fatigue. That part of the muscle is you can say in a simple term torn from the stress you create, as squats create pressure on thighs that is why your thighs or any other muscles pain or get sore or look swollen after a workout which is totally natural because body goes into tear and then it starts repairing that muscle so soreness is common even till date I myself get sore after workout its a natural part of workout and a good indication that you gave your 100% so nothing to worry about, to ease it up you can apply ice pack or balm and consume lots of proteins from eggs or chicken but that's all you can do it still will take it's own sweet time to lose that soreness, so dont worry it is totally natural…but if your soreness stays for more than 2 weeks on the thigh muscle after workout then please consult your doctor (neglect the first time, when you start working out fresh the thigh muscles might be sore for 2 weeks as they are one of the biggest muscles of the body but once given the habit they won't be sore for so long if it still is for more than a week time please consult the physician)For more fitness related articles visit my website BLOG IT.

Why do i only feel squats in my thighs?

Great comment dan....oh wait, this is for answers. Not very great sarcasm, but you get it.

Lana,
GREAT WORK!
Not many people can handle squats and the ones that do them generally have horrible form. Feel good that you are doing one of the most draining power lifts, and correctly at that!!
Just make sure you get close to a 90 between your calves and thighs. The deeper you go the more it works your butt (generally speaking). With that said, with heavy weight, sometimes going deeper can increase your chance for an injury. So just take it easy, and you should be fine.

Also, your thighs should feel it (especially if you are only going a quarter of the way down) because they are the target muscles (quadriceps and hamstrings, and of course glutes). However, if you want to really work your butt, I find that lunges will tear you up (meaning in a good way). Also try reducing the weight and doing a single leg squat.

Attached are some links to some really decent articles on the squat and some new exercises shown (sort of) to work the butt specifically. The second link is targeted directly at working your butt.

Seriously, keep it up!

Is your back suppose to hurt after doing squats? O_o?

It's probably from the added weight. It is usually normal to hurt when starting a new routine or adding some weight to it. Just be careful and don't hurt yourself too much. Also, don't forget to take a day or two off a week so you don't overwork yourself and get seriously injured. And if the pain consists, try alternating from the heavier weight to the lighter weight until you're more adjusted to it. Sometimes if you just jump into something completely new or heavier or the like, it is hard on your body.
