Am I Sick Or Have A Cold

It is safe to get a pedicure while sick with a cold?

Well, it's not dangerous to get a pedicure while you have a cold--no harm will come from it. However, you would be putting other people at risk of catching your cold, such as the person giving you the pedicure, plus you wouldn't be helping yourself out any if you're going out and about worrying about your beauty regimen instead of staying home getting some rest. A pedicure can wait, stay home, drink plenty of fluids and get plenty of rest, then worry about your feetsies when you're feeling better. :P

Why am i constantly sick with a cold?

I get colds ALL the time. They usually start at the begging of fall (around this time) and they come and go for long periods until late spring. Its mostly a runny nose and sometimes a sore throat. I take an ibuprofen when i get the colds and they usually last a week. They are really annoying because i am constantly blowing my nose and it makes me hard to do sports like running and swimming because i need to breath through my nose. Please help with any suggestions. thanks!

Can I drink cold drinks when I am sick?

It’s better to drink, whatever the temperature. Drinking cold drinks won’t make you any sicker if you keep warm, and may actually help if you have a fever. Being sick leads to dehydration and it’s important to stay hydrated. But you don’t have to drink cold drinks. People drink warm orange juice, warm milk, hot cocoa, and hot teas of various kinds. Peppermint tea is reputed to clear your sinuses. Peppermint Schnapps, being neither hot nor cold, is espoused by others. With the exception of the Schnapps, drink frequently of whatever you find pleasant. It’s hard enough being sick, so drink what you like.

Should I babysit while I'm sick?

I have a cold: runny nose, sneezing, coughing, sore throat, chest congestion, head ache--the works. I've been watching my month old niece while her parents work/go to school from 8-5 every weekday and feel like I should let them know I won't be able to watch her tomorrow (Monday) because I'm sick. Now, I hate to say it but they aren't the worlds greatest parents. They won't mind leaving their child with a sick person. I feel like I could harm the baby since her immune system is so weak. Being so young, she requires a lot of attention and close contact, mostly near my face. I seriously think it would be a bad move for me to watch this infant given my current condition but don't know if I'm over reacting. Should I babysit while I'm sick?

If I'm sick (cold) and I can't taste anything at all for two days, should I be concerned?

No. No concerns at all. I will explain it in a very simple way. Some colds can really struck on people a lot more than others. In such cases, your smell gets affected not allowing your taste buds in your tongue, do their job.Taste and smell are directly involved because both are part of digestion. Digestion starts by thinking about food that will be eaten… When you look at food, your mouth starts watering; if you smell it, a lot more. And so on, till you eat the food and swallow it; It is then welcomed by your stomach fellow juices and digestion continues till you go to the bathroom and get rid of waste. If you miss that smelling phase of digestion duribg a cold, you will generally not crave any foods…and if you eat, there would be a forced stimuli to your tongue buds. You are eating because ‘you have to’. One of your initial phases of digestion’s mechanism has somehow been disrupted. This is what happens when you have a severe cold ; your smell gets affected by the cold process ongoing on your nasal mucosa, impairing its function, resulting in practically tasteless food when you have it. This process will reverse completely as soon as your cold abandons you.

If you have a cold should you visit someone sick in the hospital?

My best friend just had surgery yesterday and i am going to go visit him today for a few hours. I would probably hug him and kiss him, but i was wondering should i do all of this if i have a cold? I don't want to get him sick if his immune system is down, he just had major surgery and the rest of his colon removed. Is it safe to visit him, if so is it safe to touch him and kiss him?

Could we have ice cream when we have a cold?

Pros and Cons of Having Ice Cream When SickPros1. Ice Cream Provides CaloriesThe smooth and creamy texture of ice cream will allow it to easily slide down a sore throat when it may be difficult to get other foods down. Eating ice cream when sick will provide calories for your body that you may not otherwise eat when sick.2. Ice Cream Sooths a Sore ThroatIce cream is like an anesthetic that reduces inflammation and provides temporary sore throat relief. Ice creams with plain flavors, like vanilla or chocolate, are better than those that have added topping of chocolate chunks or nuts, which could aggravate a sore throat.3. Ice Cream Aids the Recovery of TonsillitisIce cream is recommended after surgery for tonsillitis. Before eating any ice cream, however, it is advised for patients to first drink clear liquids. After a while, the patient can move to a cold liquid diet, which will include plain-flavored ice creams and yoghurts.Cons1. Ice Cream Worsens Swelling in the ThroatWith its high amount of sugar, eating ice cream when sick could actually worsen the swelling in your throat. If you eat ice cream and do not follow with a glass of water or gargling, pieces of sugar will be left in the crevices of your throat, where they will soon begin to aggravate the swelling. For those who commonly experience a sore throat after eating sweets or cold liquids, it is not recommended for you to consume any ice cream while sick.2. Ice Cream Causes Thicker PhlegmRemember that ice cream contains dairy. Although there is no direct correlation between dairy intake and phlegm production, dairy does increase the thickness of phlegm. Thicker phlegm will quickly irritate your throat and possibly worsen your cough.3. Ice Cream Prevents You from HealingThe most important thing to do when you are sick is to stay warm—cover yourself up with warm blankets, eat warm food, and avoid anything cold. Ice cream, as well as other cold foods, will cause your body temperature to decrease. Once your body temperature decreases, it will have to spend extra energy to warm up rather than use that much-needed energy to heal. The Bottom LineWhen you are under the weather, ice cream will definitely taste good and offer calorie to your body. It is effective at soothing a sore throat, unless the symptom is caused by consuming sugary and icy food at the beginning. If you are worried about the dairy, feel free to choose a dairy-free alternative such as sorbet, ice pops, ice chips or ice water.

Hello I have been sick for the past couple of days but today has gotten much worse. At first I just had a cough. I was coughing a lot throughout the whole day but I didn't have any other symptoms. Then the next day my body felt weak and sore. Now today I have a massive headache and my eyes hurt and are really sensitive. I am also starting to develop a runny nose. I do not know which virus these symptoms are for. Can someone tell me if I have a cold, the flu, or a sinus infection? Please and thank you so much!
