Am I To Small For Defensive End

Am I too small to play Defensive Lineman?

I am going to be in the 8th grade, and will play for my school's intermediate football team.
I am 5'3 and 150 lbs. I am planning on playing defensive tackle, am I too small?

Am I too small for defensive end?

I totally agree, i played LB and i never liked it but when i moved to DE i loved it and was really good. If you are gonna play at that size use it to ur advantage. Stay low and use that quickness, i am 5'11" am 180 and people always tell me im too small but if you love that position than stay with it, dont matter about size

Am I too small to play defensive line?

Hopefully you'll grow a few more inches.. If not you'll be a little short to play DT at a major school... If you have the talent and skills you can overcome the size factor though...

What you need to do is work hard and perform very well in practice everyday.. In adddition, you need to eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either, jogging or going for a long run everyday.. If you do these things you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch defensive tackle in high school varsity football, who may go on to play football at a major college program......

Oh, By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your junior, and especially senior, year of high school.. If you perform very well during your final 2 years of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future... Good luck....

Am i too small to play defensive end?

Personally, I believe that you are a bit too small to play as a junior varsity defensive end. Based on your height and weight, as well as the fact that you are very fast, I believe that the best fit for you is at the wide receiver position. Your height gives you the potential to become a very elite high school wide receiver.

What you need to do this summer is eat healthy, and exercise by doing a lot of running every day. If you do these two things, you will greatly improve your chances of being successful in football this season.

Can you play as a defensive end if you are skinny?

How skinny is skinny? Are you tall? Are you athletic? How are your feet? What level football are we talking about? For lower levels of football, your size may or may not be as much an issue depending on the competition. However as you mature, if you are still small, you will become easy to block without a lot of skill. Even a highly skilled person who has strength would have a difficult time gaining a ton of ground on a 6′5″ 310 lb NFL offensive tackle, much less a person without much weight to back up their skill set.Height can help to an extent. Longer levers can create leverage as well as block perimeter passes and obstruct QB’s passing lanes and vision. But basic skinny is going to be tough.

Am I big enough to play defensive end for jv?

I play cornerback right now for my football team but I want to switch over to d end I am 5 10 155. My stats are
Bench:160

I want to switch because I m more of a hitter and if you want to know my competition for d end would be this kid who is 6 0 170 and another kid who is big but only benches 135. So just let me know if you think I will be able to play defensive end

Am I big enough to play Defensive End for JV?

If you have the talent and skills to play the position then the size factor is not a problem as much in JV ball as it might be in varsity ball...It really depends on what other talent is trying out for the position as well.... Good luck.....
