Why do most non-natives believe Native Americans get "free stuff" from the government?
@Solution, yes, as American citizens subject to the same federal taxes and (for those of us living off-rez, state taxes) as other american citizens. We are eligible for community development grants through the Federal Government. These grants do not go individualy to tribal people, they are for specific projects, like the one you worked on. I, for example, am working on a grant through ANA regading resource preservation in our local watersources (which benefits both tribal and non-tribal people in our area). Again, as tax-paying american citizens, when it comes to areas that are of interest to our county as a whole (I would think your project is similar to many that have been completed in non-native communities as well?) we too are eligible for government assistence. Our tribal status does not negate our American status. And again, government grants derived from tax dollars are not for individual tribal members, and are also derived from taxesindividual native americans pay.

How true?The NSA, CIA, FBI and all the other alphabet soup entities of the USA have been spying on the world through various means since they were capable of doing it.Stealing Strategic Tech is just part of the job. Gathering Intel on the planet’s inhabitants includes the whole-scale theft of industrial secrets, private secrets and access to ALL of our data; be it medical, criminal, employment, insurance and/or social media.This is not in dispute.Many hundreds of books, articles and documentaries have been disseminated to verify this disturbing fact. Prism is but one of the thousands of programs to vacuum up our live’s most intimate secrets. If anyone thinks there are limits to this kind of “extensive invasive data mining”, think again.The French, British, Australian, German, Japanese and of course the Chinese have all become victims of this Industrial Espionage. I doubt there would be a nation on Earth that has not been targeted. The level of value placed on the data would be in the eye of the beholder, but if you have a secret, the USA has it as well.If you can imagine it, invent it or create it; the USA will steal it. Not because they are thieves, but because the USA genuinely believes it has some God given right to it. This is part mental illness, and part arrogance. The arrogance is more easy to endure than the mental illness. The illness is fundamentally more dangerous, as this is what may cause a nation to say, drop a hydrogen bomb on a couple of cities filled with civilians, ostensibly to save some soldiers lives. Or, to fabricate a “weapons of mass destruction” lie to instigate wars on innocent people around the world.Arrogance that entitles a nation to steal your secrets is able to be shielded from. We must be more vigilant. But there is not much to be done about a nutter somewhere making up stories and raining bombs down upon us. There may be only one cure for that, and although we all know what that cure is, none dare speak it’s name for fear of exacerbating the illness that has caused so much death and destruction upon many millions of people so far.So in short (sort of) YES, the USA spies, steals and then lies to hide the truth. It happens, so get used to it, or get ready to protect what you believe is rightfully yours.
