Americans Have The Worst Military

American! Why are you the worst army?

Would you care to post statistics about what you're referring to?

Ex. You're talking about assault rifles so why don't you give a breakdown of the comparison of all the active assault rifles currently in use?

If you're talking about technology in general, post what's on your mind about specific items within the Army that you're thinking when it comes to technology. Now you may not have all of the information on this and/or statistics and if you did, that'd be very interesting but post a comparison of what's on your mind.

Better than giving a general statement of "Russia has better technology. You are a terrible technology." which is completely based in opinion.

Edit: I don't speak Russian. Your second edit to your post is all in Russian. Please convert to English since you're originally posting in English and for people who speak English.

What's the worst way the American military has been ripped off?

The wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Vietnam readily come to mind. Forcing the US military to engage in “nation building” may have been a feel-good for some troops, who got to know the local populace, but it was not a good use of our military and resources. The US needs to get out of Afghanistan, which now has gone on longer than the war in Vietnam. The costs to the US taxpayers may be closer to 2–3 TRILLION dollars. This is NOT sustainable and we need to be much more judicious as to where we commit our resources, AND define a clear, achievable objective, go in, get it done, get out. Nation building for other nations is NOT a sustainable nor viable option for the military or the taxpayers. If they attack the US or are responsible for enabling an attack on the US, then we need to hit them back in such a way to give them pause. It is unlikely that you will ever change their minds, beliefs, ideology, politics or philosophy— whatever.

What was the worst position in the American military during WWII?

What was the worst position in the American military during WWII?These guys. The crew of USS Arizona (BB-39). Sunk on Dec 7 1941, within the first 10 minutes of the attack on Pearl Harbour. While their country was officially at peace.A bomb penetrated the armoured deck near the forward ammunition magazines - resulting in an explosion which tore the ship in half.Of 1512 crewmen on board at the time almost 80% of them, 1177 men, were killed. Many were at their action stations and at the time of their deaths would not have even known who was attacking them, or why.Rest in peace.

Do you think Americans are overconfident about the US Military?

Over confidence is ones worst enemy. Every American asked thinks the USA could beat any nation in the world in a war. Would this not be a sign of overconfidence. The USA may not have had an actual war on its own turf but if an army such as China, Russia, or India were to invade the USA do you really think the USA would be able to hold. Consider that the USA does not have a huge population compared to China or India, Consider that Russia has more Nuclear missiles and attack submarines than the USA. Consider that US Soldiers rely on technology rather than physical training. Consider in history that Americans tend to tuck tail and run from battles not going well for them such as Viet Nam, Korea, and the polar bear expedition where the Soviet Union crushed American forces mercilessly. Also consider that most Americans would have a heart attack trying to pull a trigger due to their obesity.

Why do americans underestimate the canadian military ?

I can only speak for what I have seen and know, so this is anecdotal; I believe Americans do underestimate the Canadian military, and I believe that most of this is based on a public perception from movies (Canadian Bacon) and public figures (Michael Moore, well...Justin Beeber) who do not represent the Canadian public well in the eyes of many Americans, at least from a military standpoint.

But I recently worked with some Canadian military persons and found them not only extremely intelligent, but adaptable to training and unfamiliar systems in a way that I don't see from American military persons. I was pleasantly surprised, and working with them shattered many of my preconceived notions of how the Canadian military operates. I think that the more our countries work together, the more our respect will grow for each other. I only hope that our American counterparts represented themselves as well.

What was the worst military mistake of the WWII?

Japan’s attack on Pearl HarborNow you may think that this obvious, but they made some pretty catastrophic mistakes in their attack that actually left America stronger then ever.Japan’s main objective during Pearl Harbor was to completely cripple America’s fleet with a torpedo bomb attack on all ships. It seemed only logical for the to do this as they felt that America was threatening. But they completely misunderstood the evolution of war and America’s priorities.First, the carriers that were the pride of the American Navy were not there. If the carriers had sunk, then the war effort of the Americans would have been severely crippled. The inability to find and sink the carriers was probably due to luck but still ended up dooming the Japanese effort later on.Second, the Japanese High Command gave direct orders to cripple the Battleships and the docks. It was through this thinking that many of the ships in Battleship Row were sunk during the attacks. I learned in my history class at school that Alfred Thayer Mahan (a leading strategist) believed that battleships were essential to every navy. Japan still followed this doctrine which led them to mistakenly believe that the war was over before it started. Turns out that the US battleships were about to be phased out anyway and were not the focus of the navy. And, the US war industry rapidly repaired and even refloated several of the ships and threw them into battle again later on. Oops.Third, most of Pearl Harbo’s fuel depots and dry dock facilities were spared due to the emphasis on attack being on the ships and parked airplanes. After the 2nd wave of aircraft hit Pearl Harbor, Admiral Chuichi Nagumo was advised by some of his pilots to launch a third wave of attacks to accomplish this objective. But Nagumo withdrew, fearing an increase in resistance. This meant that although most of the airplanes and machinery were gone, the harbor could still be a launching point for operations. Bigger oops.*The young officer who wanted the right thing done.CZ
