Americans If I Say I Got A Dog Do You Think I Have One Rite Now Or At The Past

American Pit Bull Terrier Vs. English Mastiff?

I think it would be a really good thing to adopt a unwanted Pit Bull but if you are not allowed one where you live it is probably best not to get one as you may find yourself having to re home it again. Do you rent or own your own home? Could you not rescue a Mastiff? They are really laid back dogs and i'm sure you would be able to find one that needs a good home. Talk to your local re homing centre anf they may be able to help you.

There is a website in the UK called Dogsblog and i think there is a USA one. Google it. They have dogs listed who need rehoming.

I would say go for the Pit Bull but i would be really concerned about people where you live insisting you can't have it there! Maybe you could find a Pit Bull cross? then technically it isn't a pure Pit Bull!

P. sThere is such a thing as an English Mastiff as my friend has one called Winston! He was a rescue dog and he is the coolest, softest most friendly dog ever! He is so so big and weighs 85 kilos and eats 2 huge bowls of food a day. Very good choice in dog. I am thinking about getting a Boerboel which is an African Mastiff. Yuo should check them out.

My American friends say "laying in bed", is this correct?

Don’t Mix Up “Lay” and “Lie”. They are two different verbs with different meanings. Many speakers and television scriptwriters seem to be unaware of the difference between the verbs lay and lie.Lay uses an object. That means that if you are going to use the word lay, it should be followed by a word that indicates what you want put somewhere. For example, “Lay down the gun,” or “Lay the gun down.”If you want a dog or a person to get down on the floor, you should say “Lie"Lie refers to the the activity of being on one’s back or side or otherwise in a prone position: “No more lying awake all night,” or “I was lying there, just thinking”The confusion between the two verbs arises from the fact that both verbs have a form spelled “lay.”TO LIE:- to reclinePresent tense form: Lie"Don’t just lie there! Get moving!"Past tense form: Lay"She lay in bed all morning."Past participle form: Lain"They have lain on the beach all day."TO LAY:- to place or put (an object)Present tense form: Lay"Lay the baby on the bed."Past tense form: Laid"I laid the books on the table."Past participle form: Laid"The medics laid the unconscious man on the gurney."When in doubt, try replacing LAY with PUT:“Lay the gun down” becomes “Put the gun down”The substitution makes sense.“I was laying there all night” becomes “I was putting there all night”The substitution does not make sense therefore it is the incorrect verb.

What is your favorite breed of dog and why do you think this breed is so great?

I have several favorites breeds, all of which are working class. The DogoThe Presa CanarioThe Cane CorsoThe AkitaAll of which for their protective guard dog instincts. Starting from the top, the Dogo Argentino was produced from the breeding combination of ten different bloodlines that mixed strength and endurance with athleticism. It is a pack dog, bred to hunt wild boar.Next, the Presa Canario (of which there are two separate bloodlines) is a very large and powerful mastiff, bred to kill other dogs. The Cane Corso (the only breed on this list I’ve had the pleasure of owning) is an Italian Mastiff, very large, strong, and intimidating, but also forbearing. The Romans used this dog to pull heavy artillery. The Akita is loyal to the end. Similar to a Dove, it only has one love for life (it’s first owner). It is very protective as well. The downside of these breeds is that they are not friendly with other dogs. You don’t want to take them to a dog park. It also makes it more difficult to employ a dog-sitter when you go out of town because their owner is their Alfa.Don’t misunderstand; I love all dogs. Every breed has great attributes depending on what a person is looking for. This list of four breeds is only MY top picks.

How can I convince my dad to neuter our dog?

We have an American Pit Bull Terrier.
wait, let me say that again. American Pit Bull Terrier.
And my dad doesn't want to neuter him.

I've tried to tell him the benefits of neutering. Less aggression, no risk of cancer, no piddling everywhere, no humping everything under the sun, etc-etc. I've also tried to explain to him that it doesn't make them fat, lazy, less of a male, sad, I could go on. But he just says "it's a man thing" or "it's too much money." When I come back with "real men neuter" or "you can get discounts if you go to the right place," he comes back with "I don't want to." If I say anything else after, there is going to be an argument.

It's just, ugh. I mean if we're going to have an apbt then obviously we need to get him neutered. I'm lucky I convinced my dad to help me train him. And no, I'm not paranoid of them or anything. I know they can be good nice dogs if raised right, but the key phrase there is if raised right. And I think that part of raising a dog in today's world is to get it fixed.

I suppose some of you are wondering "oh, well why can't your mom just take him to the vet?" and the answer there is that she doesn't care. She considers him "your dad's dog." I'm not complaining about her because dad was the one to get him, so I think he should be the one to neuter him if mom won't.

And yes I know, families like mine probably shouldn't even have a dog. I mean, ->raizn dawgz, we're doin it wrong<-. But I know one thing I won't be able to do is to get dad to get rid of him, and I want to keep him too. Right now the problem is neutering, help please? :)

PS. I know this was long and got rant-ish at points. thanks for reading~

I think my dog is prejudice, can you help me with this one?

First off, dogs do not only see in black and white. They can see color as well. They do not see all the colors that we can but they can definitely see in color. Next, this is a extremely common problem. I have had dogs brought to me to help with this problem many times. It usually occurs with dogs that have not been socialized with people of different color. Its a combination of the color of the person and the different scents certain races or ethnicity's of people put out due to different glands in there skin. Where I live in Arizona there are some cities that are 99% white. A dog owner will socialize her dog well within her community and bring her dog with her to the park and store but the dog only comes in contact with white people. Well, when the dog finally sees a person of color they get defensive because they have never seen or rarely seen a person of color. Its the same as some dogs that dont see many people with hats on, then someone comes into your house with a hat on and it drives your dog nuts. It is a relatively easy fix in most cases, you just have to socialize your dog with people of color. The best way to do this is if you have friends of color to invite them over to spend time in your house with you and your dog. If you are able to do this safely with your dog off leash it will be much more effective. Your dog will see that you (the alpha dog) allows people of color on to your "territory" and you interact with them. In addition, if you are at the park or out with your dog make an effort to introduce your dog to as many people of color as you can. I know you may not feel comfortable doing this, but when I was training dogs I would tell the person that the dog was having problems with african americans, hispanics, asians, or whatever their race may be and that you are trying to socialize your dog to all people, and ask the person if its ok for you to introduce your dog to them. I never had a problem with anyone being offended by my question, quite the opposite usually occured with them being very helpful. Like I said though, if you can have one of your friends of color come into your home and spend some time with you and your dog, this usually makes the biggest difference.

In America, is it nice to have a gun?

Nice to have a gun? Is it nice to have a chainsaw? Both are tools, and both are capable of causing massive harm… not just by the bad guy with the gun or Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Both are dangerous to anyone around including the handler. Both can be used for fun times. Take chainsaws. I can take you to a place up in the mountains near me where guys carve wood into bears and other animals with chainsaws, but they are experts who take every precaution and know that what they have in their hands can hurt others and themselves. Guns can be fun. Regardless of your stance on hunting lots of people do it, and I've known people who only had meat on the table because of it. Marksmanship (shooting paper or cans or whatnot) is a very fun past time. Even if it’s just you trying to beat YOU.However, some people are gonna tell you that owning a gun is a right. Well yes it is. So is owing a car. But there are some people who have NO sense being allowed to drive. The same goes for actually shooting a gun. Here is the thing that a lot of people don’t wanna face. A Right to own something doesn’t mean that you should actually own it, and it certainly doesn’t give Carte Blanche for stupid behavior. A Right to do something also infers that the person exercising that right also understand that they have RESPONSIBILITIES under that right. Too many gun owners (in my believe even one is too many) don’t think they have to care about that responsibility for them, or those around.Owning a gun brings up another analogy in my mind. Think of that gun as a sports car: Corvette, Ferrari, Lotus, Porsche… it doesn’t matter. You take it to the drag strip to compare uglies with others (a trip to the gun range). Fun right? Now, you are on an open road with lots of twists and turns, but you’re not alone. You have your spouse and daughter and maybe a friend with you (the people living around your gun bad-ass self). Are you gonna step on that throttle and race the road knowing other people can suffer also, or are you going to accept the responsibility that other people can also be affected by your driving? For me, owning a gun isn’t “Nice”. I own several. To me, it’s much more of a Responsibility than anything else, just like me obeying the speed limit, watching for children here in my apartment parking lot, and realizing that other drivers are trying to do the same, all while knowing some of them really don’t need to be driving (shooting anything more powerful than a Nerf gun).

Does it bother you when people say "nine-one-one" instead of "nine-eleven"?

I agree with you all on three counts, but there's no need to go crazy about it. People will be idiots now and forever, and there's nothing we can really do about it.
