I’m only 13 (my boyfriend is 14) but we’re going to hang out on a day. He has no money so I want to make him lunch. Is that weird? I can’t really cook either. That day is our one month.

Best girlfriend award goes to op!Very thoughtful. Don't mind you not being able to cook. The point is you two having a great time.Do a very easy recipe and put love in it. Some thought.I don't know if you have a grill? Fresh pineapple, cut a piece out and put some brown castersugar on top. Dunk it underneath the grill. Caramelize it, keep an eye on it. You'll smell the sweetness, be around the oven so you can check up on it. Works awesome with store bought ice cream .. Vanilla works, caramel ice cream is even better.Share it in a nice bowl. That's dessert done ;)And for dinner, something you can share. Less washing up, more intimate..

My boyfriend is Igbo. Is there a difference in Igbo(Biafran) recipes and Nigerian recipes?

My boyfriend is Igbo. Is there a difference in Igbo(Biafran) recipes and Nigerian recipes?First off congratulations on acquisition of an Igbo boyfriend. The Igbo race is one of the noblest and honourable races on earth, your choice is commendable.I need to mention that except for a brief, sad, dark epoch in her history, Biafra is not a thing or place in Nigeria. More so, nothing a foreigner says about it is welcomed. So I advice you keep off that word. Also, it is not a culinary word!Off course there are lovely Igbo foods, soups, and stews which I'm sure you will enjoy making for your awesome boyfriend. You will even get tips and recipes online if you don't go looking Biafran food. Igbo would suffice. I hope you'll get the ingredients where you are though.Since Nigeria is a country of many ethnicities, including Hausa, Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba et al, you'll find that there are delicacies from all Nigerian tribes and some that are common to all the tribes. Like, eba, jollof rice, etcRock your Igbo guy and make a husband out of him.

What foods should I make for my Korean boyfriend when he comes to USA for the 1st time? He has never visited USA, and I am worried he will have trouble with food here. Can you provide ideas of American style food that will be suitable for him?

I think that if he’s coming to the USA, you should try and give him an idea of the culture that there is in America, and see whether he likes that. I think that you could obviously have an attempt at making a Korean dish, I believe that the recipes on YouTube make Korean food so easy to make, and if you want some comfort food, you can go to Asian food stores and get some Korean ramen or even try making some super simple Asian stuff (Tofu, Stir-fry…) to make him feel a little bit at home, but surely, I think he’d be more than happy to try things that are popular and common in America.General Ideas:Pizza - Homemade pizza’s are so easy to make.Pasta - Endless recipes, tomato, or cheesy, or creamy, very easy and I’m sure that he would enjoy eating it as well.Chicken - Chicken is a meat that can be made into almost anything and you can cook it in any way that you wish, I’m sure that he would enjoy a chicken dish as well; fried, roasted… it can be cooked in many ways, with different spices, or even can be as bland as possible. It can also be paired with rice, salads, anything you wish!Potato - Similar to chicken, potato can be made into anything. I think if you just type in potato recipes, you can make a potato into anything and it can go with almost anything! He’ll appreciate the effort and will enjoy the potato because of how versatile it is.Rice Dishes - A way to experiment. Rice is common in Korea and there are so many ways of changing rice into something sweet, sour or spicy. It can be in salads if you want a healthy alternative, or you can have it fried and make it to your liking.Soups - A soup can easily be made, and if you’re lazy I know that soup in cans are a delight. It’s a simple dish, that’s quite filling and can be very comforting and isn’t bad for stomachs, which can be full of nutrients and different vegetables, meats, spices, whatever you wish.Ramen Bowl - I think that a ramen bowl is such an easy thing to make, even though it can seem complex. You just need a good soup, or stock, some noodles and fresh vegetables, eggs and any meat that you want, put it altogether and it would make a perfect meal, and plus, with the Asian influences he will feel a little more at homeThese are a few ideas but they are some ideas… I hope that helps a little!

What can I cook for my Mexican boyfriend?

Pork Carnitas are good and easy.

3 pounds pork shoulder, skin and bone removed
Water
1-1/2 tsp salt

Cut the meat, with the fat, into 1-inch cubes. Barely cover the meat with water in a heavy wide pan. Add the salt and bring to a boil, uncovered. When the liquid reaches a boil, lower the heat, and continue to cook until all the liquid has evaporated. At this point, the meat should be cooked through but not falling apart.
Lower the heat a little more and continue cooking the meat until all the fat has rendered out of it. Keep turning the meat until it is lightly browned all over. This entire process should take about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Serve on tortillas with cilantro, tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce, onions, whatever he likes on them.

Easy but elegant meal for my boyfriend's parents. ideas!?

I am going to cook dinner for my boyfriend's family this weekend. There are just three of them plus me. The only problem is they have traveled the world and have had every type of food known to man. Not only that but they are also pretty well off (unlike me) and can afford the best of everything. They are wealthy, city people and i'm an average country girl. How do i cook a meal that gives them a taste of where I come from but meets their standards? I don't NEED to impress them, just want to keep their good wishes. I can cook fairly well so "stupid proof" is not neccessary. I just need ideas and maybe a recipe or two... THANKS! oh yeah. my boyfriend is allergic to shellfish so thats out.

What do you cook for your boyfriends friends?

Pizza. Chicken wings (baked or fried). Meatballs with sauce. Chili. Mexican food, like tacos or nachos. Baked potatoes with a variety of toppings, although those do take an hour or more to bake. Man-friendly sandwiches: French rolls and lots of meats and toppings.

Chances are if he's only going to be gone an hour, at least some of the food will have to be kept at a friend's house or he's going to notice it. You could make a lasagna. They make some really good frozen ones that take about an hour to bake. Add some garlic bread. It won't take up a lot of counter space if that's an issue for you.

And don't forget the chips, dip, soda and beer!

Just make sure you have paper plates, plastic cups, napkins, etc., or you will be washing a lot of dishes!

P.S. What a nice girlfriend you are!

Why does my boyfriend want to see me cook?

Traditional gender roles suck! This isn't the 50s or The Martha Stewart Show, girlfriend, and you don't *have* to know how to prepare an elaborate meal -- although doing laundry is a pretty helpful skill for when you're living on your own. I'm 21 and I'm a universally celebrated failure when it comes to cooking, but my boyfriend doesn't care and neither do I!

That being said, cooking for or with your partner can be a fun, intimate experience, and it could be that your boyfriend just wants to share that with you. If it's something you're actually interested in doing, try making something simple for him, like breakfast. I make eggs in a basket for my boyfriend all the time, which he loves, and it's the easiest thing in the world. Sometimes, I make a very simple recipe for French toast, which looks fancy and is very easy to do. I serve either with a little bacon and a couple wedges or orange, or a few strawberries.

If following a recipe is easy for you, check out Budget Bytes. Her recipes are easy to make, and the ingredients are affordable. Like I said, I'm a terrible cook, but I make her coconut rice (with green onions) and honey spice chicken all the time. You could also try some slow cooker recipes, which are easy because you throw in all the ingredients and just wait until it's done.

If your boyfriend is pressuring you to do this because of some outdated concept of what a female partner should be, have a conversation with him. If he can't get past the idea that you should be able to cook like Racheal Ray and clean like Molly Maid, it might be time to find someone more updated and respectful.

Best of luck!
