Ankle Tendon Recovery Time

Ankle Surgery - how long is recovery?

I may need to have surgery to tighten the ligaments in my ankle, because I have chronic sprains and multiple stress fractures. It's been a problem for quite some time, but I'm a dancer and a gymnast (though I no longer compete in gymnastics as competitively as in high school), so I've been putting surgery off.
I'm trying to decide when to do it, based on my dance schedule. I want to be back into dance as soon as possible, and miss as little time as possible.
Anyone who's had the surgery, how long is recovery typically?

Broken ankle recovery time?

Ask & plan for at least a month of Physical Therapy. Wear good shoes & watch for uneven wear of the soles, indicating your walk pattern.

After release by your orthopedist, if you experience ankle problems consider seeing a doctor who specializes in Prolotherapy. This treatment rebuilds & strengthens torn & damaged tendons & tissues. Your ankle definitely suffered such damage to soft tissues & it is likely you'll have a weaker ankle to fight future tripping injuries that might occur. 'Prolo' can relieve leftover pains & assure you a better & reliable ankle.

Tendon repair surgery recovery time?

I have a torn tendon in my ankle. Since January, I've been in a boot, a cast, and I'm currently in another boot. I know I have tendinitis on both sides of my ankle and also in my Achilles tendon. I don't know which is torn. I'm concerned about recovery time of the surgery? How long will I be in a cast afterwards? Will I have to stay in the hospital? Will I need home instruction for school? Will I need to be in a boot when the cast comes off? How long? And if physical therapy is needed, how long will I need to go to that? Thank you.

Also, I'm a generally healthy sixteen year old girl, although something (I'm not sure what) abnormal showed up in my blood work.

How long will it take for ankle tendonitis to recover?

the recovery time cannot be exactly stated over the internet, you'd have to have a doctor check it out and see. However there are certain measures you can take to ensure that it heals faster. Not sure of your situation, what treatment has already been done to it or anything, but:

things that reduce swelling of the ankle:
--apply a compression bandage such as an ace wrap. Go from the toe end of the foot to just above the ankle. This will help to reduce the swelling. Make sure it is not too tight that it cuts off blood flow.
--ice it for 15-20 minutes every hour or so
--elevate it above the level of your heart. Lay in bed with the ankle propped up on a few pillows or something.
--rest it as much as you can
--take an anti-inflammatory such as Ibuprofen

Also, by "play" I assume you mean sports, right? Be sure that your coach is aware of the situation. Most likely your ankle will have reduced in swelling but may still be a little weaker than it was before and so more susceptible to injury

Recovery advice after ankle surgery?

Hey!

I have tried both the electrical stimulation "TENS" machines and ultrasound. both are good - TENS is a little intense at first. But I could only access them when I was at my physio's office. I definitely noticed that they helped, but I wasn't using them enough for them to make a major impact on my recovery.
My physio suggested I look into an "at home" device that I could use much more frequently. I found a couple of TENS and ultra sound devices online, but they weren't as powerful as the one's at my physio's and they were also pretty EXPENSIVE!

One alternative that I did come across and actually ended up buying was a "BFST" product - it basically gets strapped on to the injured area for 20mins and promotes blood flow to the injured region, it totally cut down my recovery time and actually helped me regain full Range of motion.
I use it now before I play sports as a kind of 'prevention' treatment - so far so good, going 2 years strong since my injury!
The link for more info on the BFST is in the sources

How long does it take for an ankle ligament tear to heal completely?

If u are not diabetic or a smoker and have a severe grade 3 strain, the first month will be brutal, the first 4 months, will be hard. That ligament is far from your heart, with small vessels and will continue to heal for 18 months! Generally swimming or riding a bike, is done before running, before tennis, basketball, are soccer. It will be important to re-train the proprioception and balancing on the ankle. One simple exercise in time, will be standing on just the one injured leg and then doing the same with your eyes closed. Good luck!

Ok should i see a docotor if i think i have peroneal tendonitis?

Yes you definitely should. Talk to your general practitioner about it and see what they think. If they think you are right they'll most likely refer you to an orthopedic surgeon who will further evaluate your condition and decide on a treatment plan.

Hope this helps. :-)
