Answer Only If You Live In Texas Can I Graduate My Son At Age 16

Can I move in with a friend without parental consent at 17 in Texas?

The legal age of majority in Texas is 18. Texas has a weird rule for unemancipated minors. If your parents do not know where you are, the police can take you into custody as a “missing child,” and return you to your parents. But if your parents do know where you are, you are not “missing” and the police cannot take you into custody. This weird rule applies only to 17-year-olds. Minors under the age of 17 can be taken into custody and returned to their parents regardless of whether their parents know where they are.Because the rules are somewhat convoluted, I’m giving you a link to an information page produced by the State of Texas. It has several links to places where you can learn more information about your rights and responsibilities.Guides: Can a Seventeen-Year-Old Leave Home?: Home

Could I try to obtain a hardship license in Texas?

READ THIS:
Unusual Economic Hardship
An applicant needs to drive to alleviate an unusual economic hardship if he or she meets one of the following conditions:

1. The applicant is married and maintains his own household apart from his parents or guardian.

2. The applicant is not married, but is the head of a household.

3. The applicant has dependent children and is responsible for their care.

4. The applicant is the only person in the household who is eligible to drive.

5. The applicant is not the head of the household, but the head of the household works out of town and can't return home each day, making it necessary for him to maintain the household.

6. The applicant is attends school and also works to help support his family. It would create a hardship for his parents or guardian to leave their jobs in order to drive him to work, and there is no other transportation available.

7. The applicant needs transportation to and from school and no school bus or public transportation

In FLORIDA, can I LEGALLY leave my guardians home at age 17?

I'm seventeen, and I'm tired of living with my parents. I feel that I've gotten everything out of living with my parents that I can possibly get, and now I want to leave. Just for your information, I'm 17, I'm an adult (I don't care what the U.S. government says about age of majority, I'm an adult.), and I'm more then confident that I could be entirely self supportive on my own. I've laid out my plan to them, moving out, getting a four room/ three bath apartment in a complex within TWO MILES of my parents house. I would be rooming with three of my best friends, and we would be splitting the rent four ways ($735 per. month/4 = $183.75 a month.) which is something that I could easily handle on my own, but they still say no, I can't be emancipated.

What I'm asking is, do I HAVE to be 18 to leave my parents behind, in Florida? Or can I leave at 17? Please don't just give me a yes or no answer. If you can, I would really like a link to the statute or law that says yes or no explicitly.
If the answer to the first question is NO, and if I were to just LEAVE (i.e. running away) to somewhere like Texas where I don't have to be 18 to be independent, could I be forced back to Florida and placed under my parents care?
One more question, do you have to be 18 to buy train tickets?

I know someone is going to chime in and say that I should love my parents (I do), and listen to them because I'm just a dumb kid (I'm not dumb or a kid), and I don't know what I'm talking about (I do), and hang on to them while I can (I'm going to be a two minute drive away)... Stow it. You don't know me or my situation. There is no violence, or abuse, or neglect. I am tired of being taken care of. I want to be self sufficient.
Remember, links are more valuable to me then a yes or a no!

What age can you legally leave home to live on your own?

Unless you're emancipated, you're still considered your parents responsibility until you're 18, regardless if you have graduated high school, college, medical school, whatever.

Having said that, I know of very few situations short of imminent danger where the legal system will try and force someone within 6 months of their 18th birthday back home. Getting many things done that go along with living on your own may be difficult, though, as those under 18 generally are not able to enter into legal contracts, something that has to be done for renting a place, getting credit, etc. Almost all of these things will require your parents consent and/or cosignature. Also child labor laws will still apply, limiting the kind of work you can do and possibly enabling employers to pay less than minimum wage.

If I'm 14 years old, which grade should I be?

Well in my state in Missouri to go kindergarten you need to be age 5 before August 1st.And school start at Mid August. And ends in Late in late May.So that means if your born on August 1st or after you Will have to wait until the following year to start kindergarten. So if your born in early August you will start kindergarten at age 6 instead of 5.So that means there two ages per each grade so the rule is +5 And +6.Okay now let start.Elementary schoolKindergarten age 5 and age 6.1st grade +5 And +6 = age 6 and age 7.2nd grade +5 And +6 = age 7 and age 8.3rd grade +5 And +6 = age 8 and age 9.4th grade +5 And +6 = age 9 and age 10.5th grade +5 And +6 = age 10 and age 11.6th grade +5 And +6 = age 11 and age 12.Middle school7th grade +5 And +6 = age 12 and age 13.8th grade +5 And +6 = age 13 and age 14.High schoolFreshman/9th grade +5 And +6 = age 14 and age 15.Sophomore/10th grade +5 And +6 = age 15 and age 16.Junior/11th grade +5 And +6 = age 16 and age 17.Senior/12th grade +5 And +6 = age 17 and age 18.CollegeFreshman age 18 and 19Sophomore age 19 and age 20Junior age 20 and age 21Senior age 21 and age 22So there are 2 ages per each grade. So if you hear a grade ( 8th grade) just add +5 And +6 And that the age of the students. So 8th grader are 13 and 14.Also if there birthday is early August they will remain at the older end of that age range e.g 8th grade age 14. While if there birthday is Late May-July they will remain the younger end of that age range e.g 8th grade age 13. If there birthday is Mid August-Late May they are in the middle of the age range. So they will be both age range. E.g 8th grade age 13 and 14.Remember not every state has the Same cut off it varies by state to state. So 14 year old are 8th grade or 9th grade.

Drivers Ed/Homeschool Question?

Does your state require you to actually take driver's education classes?
I didn't have the $$ to pay for classes or behind the wheel. Therefore my sons each had to wait until they were 17. (In our state you can get a permit at 16 1/2 only if you take go to driving school)
On each son's 17th birthday we picked up a free driver's manual at the DMV and they studied the book on their own. Then they took the written test at DMV once they felt they were ready. One went back in a few weeks, another waited about 6 months later. Once they passed the written test, DMV stamped the driver's permit and scheduled a driving test. I taught them how to drive. They passed the test, and now have their license. The youngest will be doing the same thing in Sept when he's old enough. I give them .5 credits on their high school transcript for studying the book and doing all the behind the wheel with me. There were even online practice tests that he could take on the DMV website.
No paid courses. But he still got his license. They never even asked him about taking any courses since he was already 17 when he got the permit.
Check out your state's DMV to see if it is really necessary to take the online drivers ed or if you can just study on your own. It just might be possible and you can save a lot of money.

If you still want to sign up for the classes online, contact the program and find out their policy.

The site just says TEEN. There is no place on the site that says you must be in high school to take the course. If you live in Texas they have a cheaper course for young adults ages 18-25. This seems to be required by Texas Law. I didn't seem any other state mentioned. for the young adult course. But if you are 17, then you wouldn't even qualify for this course. From what I read, if your state is one of that accepts this program then it looks like you qualify as a teen and can still take it.

Can a 16-year-old live alone in the US and enroll in high school without a guardian or parents?

Sure. There is a legal process called EMANCIPATION. This is where the parents willfully give up all rights and claims to their adolescent and some states will allow it at 16 if the parents sign custody to a judge approved minor. Now ask me if a 16 year old SHOULD be emancipated. No. An apartment manager or owner will NOT want to rent to a person so young. Most jobs that pay decent wages you can live on WILL NOT hire under 18. Most 16 year Olds can NOT support themselves in a way that will make them able to thrive.I'm sorry but I believe you should consider maybe reporting your parents to the state (if there is honest abuse or neglect) or asking your parents if you can live with an alternate relative. If it's possible, maybe try to work things out. Why would anyone want to be homeless, or hungry and without the education, or the marketable skills necessary to pay for a place with utilities and food and hot water and other things necessary to really thrive

Im 15 and pregnant. can i move out without my moms permission?

You need to see a lawyer. All states have different laws regarding this matter.
