Any Advice Would Be Appreciated.

I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice. :) ENG grammar question?

I would like to know how you can explain what the word "it" means in the sentence "I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice."

I believe this "it" is referring to the situation where the condition is met.
However, someone says that the pronoun "it" in this sentence doesn't carry any meaning but it is there because the person who may say this sentence might want to say the request as late as possible.
This person also says that it is grammatical to say "I would appreciate if you could give me some advice."
I'm not so sure but it doesn't sound right to me because I believe the clause "if you could give me some advice" is not a noun clause but adverbial.

Also, another person says this "it" is a provisional object and the clause "if you could..." is the actual object.
If so, I believe that the clause must be a noun clause.

I would appreciate any answers or comments on this problem.
Thank you very much in advance.

A hydrogen atom consists of an electron, of mass m, orbiting a proton, of mass M, where m is much smaller than M. The reduced mass, u, of the hydrogen atom is defined by:
u=(mM)/(m+M)

a)Express u as m times a series in m/M. Show that u is about equal to m by disregarding all but the constant term in the series.

b)Get a more accurate estimate for u by including the constant term plus the linear term, but no higher terms.

c)If m is about equal to M/1836, by what percentage does including the first-order correction change the estimate u is about equal to m?

Is this sentence correct: "I would appreciate any correction that you give to me"?

That's interesting, I don't know if it's exactly 'correct' or not (depending on whose book of correctness?)I suspect it has a slight disagreement or ambiguity in the verb tenses. The verb 'give me' sounds like it is present continuous.  'You give me a lot of good ideas' is present continuous. I sort of want it to say 'i would appreciate any correction you would give me' or 'will give me' or 'can give me' or 'may give me'.The main verb 'would appreciate' is some kind of future subjunctive so the verb in the dependent clause should agree with itIf you just want to speak normal everyday American English it could be that or 'any correction you give me' or 'any correction you may give me' or 'would give me' or 'will give me' but some of them sound more like a person from India said itHaving thought about it too hard now without any good cause for it, I no longer know how to speak English either.

Organic chemistry questions...any advice will be greatly appreciated!!?

The only difference between the two compounds is that in the first one, the "z" notation indicates that the high priority groups at position two's double bond termini are "zusammen" or on the same side of the double bond. (i.e. "cis" to each other).

The "e" notation tells us that the high priority groups at the fourth position's double bond termini are "entgegen," or in opposing positions relative the double bonded carbons they have between them. (i.e. "trans" to each other.)

So, the 2z,4z hexadiene would look like this, roughly:

\__/'''''''''\.

While the 2z,4e hexadiene would look like this, roughly:
~~~__/
\__/
*All horizontal lines are double, pi bonds between carbons at 2 and 4 (with those at 3 and 5, respectively)
*Ignore the little squiggles, they are just there to hold the spaces - only pay attention to the lines.
Er... just go to the link and open the powerpoint.
Best of luck!
