Any Aspiring Author That Quit And Realized That Was The Right Call

17 year old aspiring writer?

You are never too young to start dreaming big! I am 18 years old myself and I have won two publishing contests for my poetry. Both legitimate yet small contests! Try and start to enter mini-poetry contests that accept work and will publish work from teenagers. For example, your local library could be holding a poetry contest or two sometime or you could also look on the internet and perhaps type in poetry contest 2009 teenager, or anything that relates to any contest you would like to enter. Also, many of these contest offer categorized themes meaning that you would have to write a poem centralized towards that main theme, for example, it could be nature, or war, or poverty, or love, etc. It is good you have begun to start so early, as have I. We young writers have to stick together and I am just passing on the little knowledge that I have to another aspiring writer!

1. DREAM BIG: In order to have Big success, you must have Big dreams. Yet, you must not venture far from reality. Understand that you are still young and you still have many years ahead of you to get your name out there and publish your work. No hurry!

2. START SMALL: This is important. Do not bite off more than you can chew. Professional baseball players did not get into the major leagues the minute they held a baseball, first there was little league, then minor league, then triple A, then Major leagues, same goes for anything else, you all have to start somewhere. Have a foundation to start from.

3. INSPIRATION!: Become inspired! Inspiration can come in handy when you are trying to write that big blockbuster novel! You must have a source of inspiration. This could be as simple as a man wearing a brown t-shirt and worn out 1970's retro pajama pants walking down the street although it is the 2000's. This could inspire you to write something about being different in a different era. Who knows. The world is your oyster. Take notice of everything around you!

Remember, a writer's greatest tools are the abilities to listen and to observe! Never give up! Never quit! Never say never! Take constructive criticism! It is all part of becoming a writer! You WILL be criticized. Look to improve upon your skills. Take classes if you have to.

You will only get out of what you put into this world!

Go get them!

And send me an autograph when you become famous!=]

GOOD LUCK!

Hi i am a 25 year old guy.I'll tell u my story.in my school days i was a geek. I was a topper for 10 consecutive years of my school life. The picture was rosy and i was happy. From 11th standard, the downfall started. I was surrounded by difficulties and i was on the verge of falling into depression. I started stress eating unknowingly and from 75 kg i became a guy weighing 102 kg. I became an epitome of depression. at the end of the year,i failed miserably. I fell on my face after being a topper. I cried and felt depressed. My two years got wasted. It was sad.still after the results arrived,i decided to give a second try, reappeared for exams and after one year,i failed again. Three important years wasted and lost. Imagine how i would have felt ,all my friends were finishing the first year of graduation and where was i?Had to go for diploma engineering since that was the only option left for me. AND MY CAREER WENT BACK BY THREE YEARS.In very first semester of diploma,i failed in half of the subjects. Felt depressed for 6 more months because of all the mockings i faced and stuff. From second semester i kicked off and kept going.Finished three years with 77.7% score and had an MNC job with the highest package of my institute's history. Just because i didnt give up.The job though was as a backup if i couldnt land up in degree.Got admission in a college with good on paper image. Was happy initially but it didnt last long as the college life was rather frustrating because of faculties. In college life i had frequently fallen sick. I went through skin diseases, digestive system diseases, ligamental tears etc etc(some i dont want to describe here) with no one to care but me. Still didnt give up.Was frustrated because of poor placement from the college side but still managed to be one of the 4% students who got placed. Just because i didnt give up.After 5.5 months down the job,i am now beginning to feel like this job is a dead end. I am frustrated in a lucrative job. So now i am looking for a new job. Ready to compromise with the salary i make. BUT NOT READY TO GIVE UP.One faces many things in life. Some make him happy and some make him sad. But since life doesnt stop and keeps on going, why should we?Dont give up. U will be fine. Just have that spirit, the right attitude and keep on fighting till you get what you want. All the best.Feel free to ask me if u need help.

Head Boy Quotes

To answer this, I would like to point you to a movie which is based on a real-life incident which actually shook the entire world - 9/11. The name of the movie I'm referring to here is United 93. It is a plane which was hijacked by the terrorists and was meant to crash into the Capitol building(or the White House) but did not, because of the bravery of the people on board.Anyway, the point I want to make here is this. After hearing about the attack on Twin towers and Pentagon, the passengers realized that this was not an attempt to exchange the plane for some terrorist leader. This was a suicide mission. They realized that they were going to die. And guess what they did? They called up the ones who they really loved and told them how much they loved them. This is what I think life is all about. Being with people you care about and receiving back their love.Sure, your career is also important. Your work fills a large part of your life. But that is only a necessity. Your life is not only about that. Just think about it. Who would you call if you knew you were about to die in 20 minutes? Would you call your boss and be like “Sorry boss I couldn't complete the project you gave me. I'm about to die in like 20 minutes but you know what you can hand over the project to xxx. He'll complete it. Thanks bye”. No right?! Just answer that question. Would you call your boss or your wife/husband(or children or parents) if you knew you were going to die in 20 minutes and then you'll realize that life is not all about career.Cheers!!

Does anyone know how Lorraine Hansberry felt about the plight of the ***** person?

Let me tell you a story of my dear friend BOSS. He too like you “wasted” around 4 years for UPSC.He now works in US, earns much more than anyone I have heard at 28. Has a personality to die for. All this in 2 years. His final rejection saw him applying for MS in USA in November-December 2015. He thought his application will get through by fall (July) 2016. Instead, he was called for Spring session (Feb 2016). This was his only application to a university till now. He cleared all the requirements (including VISA) by Jan, flew to US only to realise his choice of MS was pretty wrong and outdated. He shifted gears and decided to pursue Data analytics & machine learning there.Just like in UPSC, he maintained his 18- 20 hour workday and finished his degree with a placement. Not only did his UPSC years helped him by putting in long working hours, his eagerness to learn everything put him right there at the top.He was able to change his fortune/destiny only because of hardwork. He kept pushing and reached a point where a company picked him up for his knowledge on data analytics. Those four “wasted” years prepared him for his biggest chapter of his life. He nailed it quite beautifully. This is him, enjoying a trip to New York. The four years flew like anything, his hardworking attitude trumped everything.I admire him.Sharing an advertisement which quite clearly summaries my friend’s approach to life.2012 Super Bowl Chrysler Commercial, "It's Halftime in America"Hope this helps! Thanks,Rajhans
