Any One Worked/works At Bcbg Retail Stores

Working at Clothing stores?

Personally you might have a chance with all of them, but you never know what they are all looking for. All of the jobs I have had have been retail so I have a lot of retail experience, and I have also worked at Victoria's Secret. When there were times I needed and I applied to a lot of retail store, some which are on your list I didn't even get calls back from a lot of them so its not always about retail experience. I think that with VS you would have a good chance. I had a group interview with them and many of the girls didn't have any retail experience but as long as they had a wide enough schedule to be available they were hired. Express I didn't work there but had a interview with them and I think that they are pretty hard to get a job with. I know they base a lot of their choices on clothing since they are a high fashion store and probably on your experience. I have been applying at Express for the longest and just recently got an interview but didn't get the job so that one may be tough. Forever 21 I believe you could get a job at as long as you have a good working background. Just recently a 2 story Forever 21 opened up where I attend school at and they had open interviews on my campus and literally hired EVERYONE I even got the job but just didn't make the orientation. So that one may be really easy. As far as the other ones I don't know, but I do hope I helped in some way!

Why don't people like working in retail?

“Retail” is a very broad category. The person working as a clerk in an upscale boutique will have a very different experience than someone doing stocking or checkout at a Big Box store. In general, the pay is not great, and is sometimes dependent on commissions, if you are a salesperson in some stores. This is why the person at the department store register always asks “Was someone helping you?”: if you can’t remember the person, they may be losing a commission. For stores that are open long hours, there are multiple shifts, and folks can get stuck working very odd hours. And in the current business climate, large retailers seem to keep a lot of their staff on limited hours, to avoid paying for benefits. I’ve also heard complaints from full-time people who either can’t get any overtime work when they’d like to, or are compelled to take overtime when it’s burdensome for them.Physically, you are often on your feet for your entire work-day. You may get repetitive strain injuries if you are lifting or working a busy cash register. That said, if you are a detail-oriented, extroverted person, you have a better chance of thriving in retail work - you’ll be more likely to land a job at a better type of store (getting better pay and benefits), and dealing with people all day won’t wear you out the way it would an introvert. My retail experience was full-time seasonal sales at an upscale jewelry store. The base pay was on the low side, but even the half-commission given to seasonal people made a nice bonus. The hours were regular, the customers were generally nice (and we had good managers and security folks who were skillful at diverting or escorting out those who weren’t). If I were in need of a regular day-job again, I’d certainly consider seeking something similar. On the other hand, I’d have to be desperate to take an odd-shift, part-time position at one of the understaffed discounters in the area.

If ladies’ boyfriends wanted to propose, but couldn't afford the ring they wanted, would they be okay with a temporary ring, or would they rather wait until he could afford the one they wanted?

My older brother didn’t even have a legit job at the time that he proposed to his now wife, but he got in a huge debt just to be able to buy the tiniest “real” rock for his girlfriend. It was the smallest thing ever, but still a real diamond, and he was obsessed with getting that instead of something that was maybe silver, or gold banded imitation rock and still looked like an engagement ring.I saw no point in paying 2k something for a ring you wear just for formalities. Especially when you don’t even have a job.See this thing Swarovski does?Looks pretty legit from the outside. Nothing distinguishable from the looks when compared with other engagement rings. Still as cliché as it comes.Get this one for me. It’s 129.99$, not even a square 130$!! See how much I’m helping you already??And I’ll wear it just to flaunt that I finally “have a man”.At the end of the day, I bet the super pricy ring you’ll buy me could gift us a trip instead. If you are not a millionaire by nature, why are you forcing yourself to buy such things?I don’t even understand big and expensive weddings. Those could go to buying a car, or even a house. (if you want any of them ever, which I’m not into either again)The wedding industry is just a huge scam, toying with your excitement and emotions. If you can’t afford the expensive ring, go get an “I Do” from Swarovski.Super blingy, super classic looking, gets the job done, and still a heck of a ring to propose with.Don’t make already hard things harder for your own.For all that I care, you can buy something that looks exactly like this, but is from H&M. Or drug store. As long as it looks like an engagement ring, it will satisfy our family and friends.I don’t care about the ring and how much you paid for it, the real deal is the journey we go on after the whole festivities end.

Which VC's are investing in Fashion/Technology?

I'm a VC at FirstMark Capital, and we're active investors in online retail and ecommerce space.  We see retail as one of several massive systems coming under a fair amount of pressure - with this comes the opportunity to innovate against existing market structures. We're investors in Shopify, AHAlife, Lot18, Lolly Wolly Doodle, Pinterest, and Jirafe, all of which tackle different parts of the value chain in fashion/tech.Also, one of the partners at FirstMark, Lawrence Lenihan, writes an awesome blog that talks about a lot of the issues (and opportunities!) in retail today: www.lawrencelenihan.com
