Any Tips On Running Long Distance Runs

Long distance running tips?

Well so far the answer given to you told you a lot of stuff not to do. Don't guzzle water like there's not enough to go around - you're not likely to get dehydrated in a mile unless you're doing the run in the Sahara. Don't change your diet the night before, you don't gain anything carb loading for races shorter than a half marathon. Don't stretch cold muscles - jog a little before stretching to get the blood pumping and loosen up. Don't bother with stretching the night before, it won't do anything for you.

Avoid eating/drinking anything more than a sip or two of water for a half hour before the run so that your stomach is empty and doesn't cramp. Try to run an even pace the whole way - don't go out too fast.

Good luck, there isn't much you can do at this point other than just hit the track and see what happens.

How to run a long distance without getting tired?

this is my first year running cross country and it took a little bit to get used to running long distance since i'm normally a sprinter. the advice i have for you is to make sure you warm up & stretch before you run. not doing this can cause injuries like shin splints and maybe just your leg crapped up. also, drink plenty of fluids such as water or like gatorade, that will help you gain electrolytes after you run too. when you first start out running, don't go fast right away. its long distance. not sprints. try setting yourself at an easy pace like a jog. if you are still getting tired then go a little slower. you can always speed up if you need too. and when you get stronger and don't get tired when jogging, try going a little faster. someone once told me that if you can run and talk in a full sentence with out running out of breath then you are at a good pace, you aren't tired. a common mistake is when you breath. breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. if you get a tired, take deep breathes. this will help you relax. also, make sure you that if you do get tired or sore or anything, that you take a break. your body will tell you when it does not want to run anymore. i run 6 days a week, running miles and miles for cross country and there are days when i have to stop and walk a little bit because my legs are so tired and i'm just out of breath.
