Marilyn Manson – Killing Strangers Took me 1 minute to google it...

What is the most badass thing about Marilyn Manson?

I can list off some things about Marilyn Manson that seem bad ass, at least to me (what I consider bad ass and what you consider bad ass may be different, so if this answer doesn't help, feel free to delete it):He has been a musician for over 27 years, with 9 studio albums spanning from 1994 to 2015.He has smoked human bones before. He writes most of his songs, and is also a writer, painter, poet, and somewhat actor. He should also venture into comedy because he's pretty funny and has some great one liners (i.e. “I'm allergic to breasts. I break out in erections). Is highly intelligent, humane, cares about animals, and has a soft spot for people, despite what many people think (he actually gave up his hotel room to a fan who was stranded just so she could be safe and slept on the bus, he let a fan who was dying from a rare illness sing backup vocals on his 5th album The Golden Age of Grotesque, and he has either donated or volunteered for quite a few charitable causes or organizations.)When he was targeted by many groups for the columbine school massacre, (including media, religious fundamentalist groups, etc) He didn't back down. Especially when the media falsely reported that the 2 shooters were fans of his band and were driven to kill people due to his “aggressive music”, which was later debunked and proven false and pretty evident that the media was using him as a scapegoat to pin the blame. He stood his ground and didn't back down from this fight. (He did cancel some shows out of respect for the victims and their families.) In the documentary Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore asked him what he would say to the shooters if they were standing in front of him, he replied “I wouldn't say Anything. I would sit there and listen and that's exactly what nobody did.” After that, everybody was speechless and backed off.

Why was Marilyn Manson, the musician/singer, considered the antichrist in the 90s?

Because idiots. If anyone seriously believed that (and I have my doubts...) it was a minority view held by a few of the sort of Christians who concern themselves with all that apocalyptic "end times" stuff. To the vast majority of Christians, Marilyn Manson was a guy who dressed up as something he thought conservatives would be scared of, or offended by, or repulsed or something. In case his silly hats and contact lenses hadn't caused a moral panic by themselves he did and said some more hopefuly-offensive stuff while wearing them. Most of us responded with eye-rolling and said "yes Brian, very nice" while a very few decided that when the Antichrist arrived he'd definitely dress up in fake boobs and platform boots and go around shouting "look at me! I'm the Antichrist! Grrrr!" The rest of the Christian world gave them a similar "yes Cletus, very nice" response.Of course by that time the UK was twenty years on from moral panic caused by a man in a silly outfit shouting "I am an Antichrist" over some blasting rock and roll without really understanding what it meant or actually meaning it, so old Brian was old news.

Why does Grammarly recommend to not use the passive voice in English?

Short answer: it’s a question of style.Long answer:Grammarly, like most writing tools, can help you improve your writing but it’s up to you to decide what sounds best. That includes deciding when to use the active voice vs. the passive voice. It’s a style choice! (see screenshot from Grammarly below). For many types of writing, the active voice is stronger and more direct than the passive voice. For example consider:“It was recommended to me by Grammarly to use the active voice”Vs.“Grammarly recommended using the active voice.”Ask yourself which of the above sentences is clearer or the most concise? As a writer it’s your call as to when to use the active or passive voices. For example, an attorney or lawyer may use the passive voice to quality a statement.Stephen Pinker coves how to use the passive voice in his book The Sense of Style. It’s worth reading alongside Strunk and White’s Elements of Style. If you’re interested, I wrote a detailed Grammarly review explaining how I use it.

Is it a sin to listen to rock music?

What exactly is rock music? When I was a boy, I knew what it was! It was that new stuff that was all over the radio by people like Chuck, little Richard, Elvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny, Carl, Wanda and those new guys from over at Lubbock. Buddy something or other! Yeah Rock and Roll, that stuff that all the churches were preaching against, and asking kids to pledge not to listen to, and wanting us to burn our records and stuff. Yeah buddy, back then I KNEW what Rock and Roll was!! You know, that stuff that pissed off our Lawrence Welk, and Mitch Miller loving old fogie parents. It turned out, I really didn’t know what it was, as it was a lot older than I was, it was just new to whitebread suburban America. I didn’t know that one of the founders of that sound was a Godly lady named Sister Rosetta Tharp, with an electric guitar that wailed praises to God, and got butts off the seats and raised shouts to God in houses of worship. I wish I could have been in those churches! Go to Youtube and Listen to her please! In the years since I was a boy I’ve heard sermons preached against Rock and roll, Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones and even the Eagles. Gimmie a break, I’m an old country boy and I know bull sh__ when I see it and hear it, and that’s it. I’ve been listening to rock since before it had a name, and if that flies in the face of my Christianity then that’s a sin to go along with all the others I’ve intentionally or unintentionally committed. I’m a Christian, I’m not close to perfect, but I serve a loving and wise God who has saved and forgiven me and leads me daily. I know God loves music and if Heaven is devoid of rock it’s not what I think it will be. An eternity without classic rock, folk rock, country rock, hard rock, soft rock , Texas rock, and my very favorite addiction Southern Rock would leave me the unhappiest camper in Heaven.I’m not telling you to listen to rock, I’m telling you to listen to whatever pleases you, whatever puts you in your happy place, whatever makes you feel the best. Right now I’m gonna listen to that Great old Southern Rocker Charlie Daniels two best albums, “Steel Witness” and “The Door”,then maybe a little Janice or Jimmy and I’ll be here, in MY happy place if anybody needs something!

John 5, Synyster Gates or Buckethead?

I just like John 5 :D He's a good guitarist, and he has weird methods of creating new sounds. I think Marilyn Manson put a guitar in his hands and blindfolded him and made him listen to dirty stuff, to see what he could make from that
