Are any of my guilty pleasure names usable? +BQ?

USABLE GIRLS NAMES:
~ Andromeda
~ Arwen [as a middle name, since it's a little too 'Lord of the Rings' to be a first name in my opinion]

~ Juno (nickname for Juniper)
~ Kitty (nickname for Katharine/Catherine/Katia)
~ Luna
~ Luna Soleil (first/middle combo)

Guilty pleasure names?

Rosalita is quite pretty, I'm sure it could work on an actuall child. Rosie is a cute nickname.

Bluebell *does* sound sweet, but, if I'm honest, I laughed when I heard the name Bluebell Madonna [one of the Spice Girls' daughters, I think].

Lola is very cute, it's #47 in England and Wales. Very usable, despite the song.

I *love* the name Ianto, thanks to Torchwood. I think it's usable.

Mine are all girls' names:

Sonnet

Poet

Lyric

Columbia --- Rocky Horror, anyone? I love the RHPS, but I don't think I could name a child Columbia.

The first three are because I can't see them on a grown woman.

EDIT: Ha ha, I love Magenta as a name, too! Her and Columbia are my favourites! I'm adding Nell to my list, it's also in honour of someone named Nellie as well as Little Nell.

=)

What are some examples of "guilty pleasure"?

Expensive liquor, ménage a tois, quality shi shi smoked from a hooka, the first few months of “El frio Columbiano”, Polish food at a great restaurant in Krakow to which I’ve forgotten the name. ( those pretty much cover my first 30 yrs)After 30?………Belgian chocolate, time with my son, 900 page books that take me away for hours, 40 mile bike rides, long trips outside of this country and any night that I sleep at least 8 hours straight. And none of these last ones bring on any guilt! Our kicks usually get a lot less complicated once we get older. Pay attention to your indulgences when young, some don’t make it to the second half because of what they did the first 2 or 3 decades :)

What does "guilty pleasure" mean?

Something you like to do but you are not proud to do it (and to like it). For example if you consider yourself someone with good musical taste and you find pleasure in listening to some unambitious pop songs you formally despise. Or you love ambitious literature but you like some Harlequin romance from time to time. Or you eat sophisticated dishes but sometimes you like a set from McDonald's. One of my guilty pleasures was watching reality TV about people spending holiday in Spain and their boring discussions.

Guilty pleasure name list? +BQ?

What are some names that you adore but you'd never name your kid... OR some names that you adore but no one else does and you are still contemplating naming your child??
My main one is Nathallen.. I know, it's not a real name, but I made it up a few years ago, and have loved it since.

BQ:
Take your 2 favorite boy names and blend them & your two favorite girls names and blend them.
You can do this as many times as you want with as many names as you want.
(Please state what the names originally were.)

What would you name your children using my guilty pleasure names?

Persephone Allegra
Florence Guinevere
Elowen Phaedra

Roman Alaric
Lincoln Pierce
Evander Jace

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+...

BQ: To me, the term "usable" is often open to interpretation when it comes to names. For example, to a person who generally dislikes "older" names, Edwin may not seem usable to them in this day and age. I, however, find it totally usable.

From your GP list here, I personally think the following could be usable (despite my own like/dislike of them):

-- Octavia
-- Isolde
-- Astoria
-- Bryony
-- Guinevere
-- Elowen
-- Regan
-- Isis
-- Florence
-- Morgana
-- Valencia

-- Alaric
-- Jace
-- Lucian
-- Thaddeus
-- Roman
-- Evander
-- Lincoln
-- Raphael
-- Pierce

And I WANT so badly to add Persephone to that list, but I'm not sure if I can. It's one of my top GP names too. Maybe it wouldn't be a huge problem, but I think sooo many people would just see the two words "purse" and "phone" smushed together.

The ones I find the least usable (I'll give four for each gender) are:

-- Allegra (I don't know about where you live, but I live in the United States and Allegra is very much associated with the allergy medication. In fact, before I started getting into names I didn't even know Allegra was a name before it was a medication! So, it's been hard for me (personally) to see Allegra as a name.
-- December
-- Winter
-- Tallulah (I find this name to be way too overly sweet and princessy. I can see her being a princess in a Disney movie, but I cannot picture it on a little girl.)

-- Whittaker
-- Tempest (It sounds evil, non-name-like, and I see huge teasing potential.)
-- Zoltan (I don't find it usable, but it could definitely fit in with the more trendy names.)
-- Vladimir

Obviously from the list I gave above, I think many of your GP names could be deemed usable, BUT only with the right siblings' names (for some of them). What I mean by that is that a sib-set like Astoria, Brian, Jacob, and Megan would sound a bit odd to me (with Astoria sticking out like a sore thumb). Something like Astoria, Isolde, Thaddeus, and Lucian could work though. Get my drift?

I enjoyed answering this. No pressure, but I would love to see more questions from you! :)

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

I have many:Binge watching : Friends,Game of Thrones,Sherlock Holmes,Batman The Dark knight rises..the list goes on.The irony is that I will not watch new stuff instead I will watch the stuff which I have already seen because in my head its safe and I know that its not going to disappoint me.Self loathing : because that lets me off the hook and don’t we all love to play the victim card sometimes.Day dreaming : I like to think about a rosy future.eating ice cream : I always take few scoops in a bowl and eat it but then someone inside my head instructs ,”one more spoon will not do any harm” and the next moment I find myself eating out of the box .Few more minutes pass by and I am scraping the bottom of the box wondering what the f..k happened to all the ice cream.
