Are Blue V5 Car Log Books Still Okay To Use

Can I use the VIN to find out if my car has AWD?

I always tend to use this website if its not a Ford vehicle. Home : Free VIN Decoder As for the ford vehicles I use this website : Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums . Also sometimes, the model of a vehicle can tell you if its a AWD. Exemple : G37x (X means AWD).  Also lookink behind the wheels of a vehicle can tell you that. See this : The number 6 is what bring the moving power to the wheel. So if you see this at the front and back of your vehicle (this picture is showing the front wheel) then you have a AWD vehicle.

Buying used car from private person?

Basically buying a used car is a crap shoot! There is no way to be absolutely certain something won't go wrong, so just accept that. Now, if your still interested you can do a CarFax report on it, and take it to a local mechanic for an inspection but thats pretty much all you can do.

How do you sell a car that is not in your own name?

You will have to get the named person or persons on the title to sign the title. Then you can sell the car as your own. It will be like you bought the car yourself from them, whether you actually paid them or not.You can also sell the car if you have a power of attorney from the owner(s) for that purpose. Also, if you are the executor of a deceased person’s will. The exact mechanisms of these two will vary by state, in the US.Caveat: If you have a title that has been signed by the owner, legally you are supposed to title that car in your name, paying the fees and taxes due to the state before you resell the car - IF you do not have a car dealer’s license. By skipping this step you are defrauding the state of their tax dollars. It’s called skip titling. It is done all the time, but it is actually illegal. If you are actually acting as the owner’s agent in selling the car, then you wouldn’t be skip titling. In that case, it would be best to simply have the final sale meeting with the owner(s) and the buyer(s) so the owner can sign the title over to the buyer. As a buyer, I won’t buy a car from someone whose name isn’t on the title, though there are many people who will.

How do you privately sell your car?

Get a pre-purchase inspection to show prospective buyers - Depending on the condition of the vehicle - a very low cost car that is old or high mileage wouldn’t need thisClean the vehicle inside and out. Take at least 12 photos, preferably more, of the vehicle. On the webpage you are listing the car on, use a driver side front 3/4 view as your primary photo. Followed up by exterior then interior photosGet a Carfax report to provide your buyersPrice your car lower than equivalent cars at dealerships in your area, or you’ll be stuck with it for a while. Dealerships spend a lot of money reconditioning vehicles before selling them. This means that your car likely isn’t as good as a dealers vehicle, which is why people won’t pay as much for a private sale.Write a good description of the vehicle, it’s conditon and imperfections. Write about what is in good shape and what the virtues of the model you are selling are.If in doubt, check out your local dealers webpage for used cars. Also check autotrader or similar sites for guidelines - from dealers not other private sellers.

WHat paperwork do I need to sell my car?

If I change the color of a part of my car, do I need to inform the DVLA?

You do if you change the colour of the majority of your car. Simple reason, your car is red, you paint it blue, it gets stolen, the police are looking for a red one.
Replacing one trunk lid, hood, door, or fender with a used one of another colour is not reason to change the registration details.
If you deal with the DVLA, and you have a boot on your car, why do you spell colour the American way? Enquiring minds need to know.

What factors do auto insurance companies use to arrive at a fair settlement after an accident?

As you probably know, insurance adjusters aim to settle for the smallest cost they can. (But it is possible to negotiate for a reasonable payment.)They’ll typically take into account the following:Pain and sufferingExpenses caused by the accidentResultant disabilityEmotional damagesLoss of wages (past/present/future)Insurance adjusters do meticulous research, and then examine the victim’s case. Their assessment of the strength of a victim’s case will determine the settlement offer. It’s easy to calculate the settlement based on more concrete factors like accident-related expenses. Looking at the policy value of the insured is another way to come up with a number; many policies include an upper limit to the amount an insurance company is expected to pay in the event of an accident. These metrics are all fairly quantitative, requiring little guesswork. However, the more qualitative metrics of pain and suffering and emotional damages are assessed using systems like the Pain Multiplier system or Per Diem system:Pain Multiplier system: Multiplying medical bill cost and lost wages by 1.5 - 5.Per Diem system: Setting a cost for each day of suffering on the part of the victim, then multiplying that cost by the number of days during which the victim suffered.Whether the number ends up being fair or not depends on the situation. If you’re looking for more information and advice on car insurance, Car Insurance Guidebook may have more info that can help you out.
