Are Holidays Proof To Liberals That The Economy Is Getting Better

When will liberals learn that all economic problems can be solved by cutting taxes on corporations and the highest wage earners and having it trickle down to the lowly workers?

Dude, you have it totally backwards. The tax ideology you are describing is CONSERVATIVE economic policy.Liberals oppose this idea vehemently, because history has shown several times that it DOES NOT WORK!To answer your question, CONSERVATIVES will NEVER learn; they are ignorant of history. These kinds of tax cuts shrink the middle class, and push more of them into lower class. It’s what happened when Reagan did it, and it’s what happened when Bush Jr. did it.When you give massive tax cuts to those who already have more money than they could ever spend, you’re not helping anyone. They are not going to spend more; they are gonna sit on it, or hide it oveseas, or maybe buy a bigger private plane. These things DO NOT help grow the economy. It is a RARITY that they will ever use it to expand their business holdings, or raise wages, or hire more workers. Even now, with the huge Tax SCAM that Republicans passed, the number of wage increases or bonuses are still small and anecdotal at best. It is not going to be a widespread thing. Meanwhile, huge multi billion dollar corporations like Walmart are STILL laying off 10s of thousands of workers, all for the sake of making even MORE money that they could NEVER spend. On the other hand, when you give the big tax cuts to those in the lower and middle class, you are helping 10s of millions of Americans. These Americans will SPEND the extra money they have on food, clothing, entertainment, vehicles, homes, etc., all things that GROW the economy. And growing the economy helps EVERYONE, because when lower and middle class America spends more, those at the very top also make more money and get something from it as well.Ya want to know how much more money I had in my paycheck for the month of January?A PATHETIC $23 more dollars for the ENTIRE month. That DOESN’T HELP ME! And it sure as hell is not going to help most people.Or how about the secretary that got a whopping extra $1.50 a week?NOT GONNA HELP!Its NOT rocket science! This trickle down zombie lie is a fraud upon the American people, and because CONSERVATIVES will NEVER learn, we need to kick their sorry corporatist asses out of Washington before they finish off the middle class once and for all!

Are there any conservative values that liberals can agree with?

I find this to be a question that actually illuminates what I see as “the fundamental” difference between conservatives and liberals. Are you ready for it?Their values are pretty much the same.Fiscal responsibility? Everyone wants that. We differ on what that means though. I think, as an example, it’s more fiscally responsible to use my taxes to pay for everyone’s healthcare than to let my taxes pay for their emergency health care anyways.Lower crime rates? Sign me up! Just don’t do it by increasing incarceration or capital punishment rates, since those are highly correlated with increased crime (esp. violent crime).“Family Values”? Everyone wants to have a moral and ethical family. I just don’t think it’s ethical to deny someone that right based on feeling icky about their sexual or gender orientations.A secure nation? Who doesn’t want that? I just don’t want a “secure” nation that comes at the cost of bombing a ton of innocent people in the desert, or torturing people in an offshore prison. Those things tend to actually make a nation more likely to be targeted, not less.A strong economy? Has anyone ever said they wish they could live through the Great Depression? No. Everyone benefits from a strong economy. But evidence suggests that a strong economy is best built by strengthening the safety nets for the lower class to help push more people into the middle class instead of pouring cash into the upper class and hoping they piss some of it down to the unwashed masses. Our values are, at their core, the same. Where we differ is in how we want to address these things and implement them.I’m a progressive because I personally value compassion, care, and statistics based evidence when choosing a strategy. If something has worked to achieve these ideals in most other developed nations there is no reason to believe it won’t also work here, especially since we have enough data to know that warmongering, increasing incarceration, supporting the death penalty, trickle down economics, full-privatized health insurance, persecution of religious or ethnic minorities, etc…, are all antithetical to achieving those values.

Which Political Party would these My Little Pony characters be in ?

Twilight Sparkle
Rarity
Fluttershy
Rainbow Dash
Apple Jack
Pinky Pie
Spike
To me Twilight, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash seem to be Democrats, Apple Jack, Rarity and Spike seem to be Republicans and Pinky Pie seems to be an Independent or Libertarian.
Don't get offended by the question people.
I'm only asking for fun.

Where's a better place to move to - Sweden or Finland?

I'm 15 years old and I live in Florida. After I graduate college, however, I'd like to move out of the country and I want to learn the native language for whichever country I decide on. If I pick the wrong language, it's no big deal, I can always learn another, but i'd like to have some idea. I've been thinking about a lot of places in Europe - England, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, etc. So here's my question - which country would be the best place to live, and the easiest transition for an American to make? I know I'm going to have to adapt to their culture and customs, but I don't really want to go to a place that's too extremely different. Also, I am gay, so I don't want to move to an area that's extremely conservative - I've read that Sweden allows same-sex marriage and Finland does not, but that isn't a deal breaker, as long as homosexuality is preppy well accepted. I'm also very liberal in general, so which country is the most progressive (e.g. equality for all regardless of race gender or orientation, alternative fuels, a country that is secular but accepts people of any religion, etc.)

So, Sweden vs Finland-
-Which country would be the easiest for an American to transition to?
-Which country has better public education?
-Which country is more expensive to live in (cost of living, etc)?
-What is the public opinion of Americans (i.e. how well would I be accepted)?
-I assume the climate is just about the same, but, from a Floridians perspective, which area has the best weather?
-If you live in either of these countries, what's it like there?
-I'm not a big sports person, but what are the majors sports in these countries? (e.g. Canada is pretty well known for hockey)

Thanks in advance!

Why did Liberalism fail in the USA?

During the sixties (even since the end of the World War) the Americans had a very liberal government and society. This started to collapse about 1967ish, with their president Johnson. During that time the American government wanted to create the great society. They gave the most liberal policies ever, we would expect for crime and unrest to go down but this was not the case, it actually resulted in the Worst unrest in USA society ever, with rioting and looting.

Why did liberalism fail in the USA and not other societies like here in the UK?
