Are People Afraid To Be Against Obama

Why are people so afraid to admit that Michelle Obama is as ugly as a pug?

Maybe because she's the first black president's wife...I dunno. I'm not scared though, she looks like a monkey to me.. but despite my comment, I respect her. Haven't met her, but if I did, she'd have my respect. When we respect people, such as our friends, we don't call them "ugly" even if they look horrible, but we do have our opinion kept inside, though it's nothing serious or threatening to the relationship because, true friends never express them. I'm like that with some of my friends, some are ugly, but I love them. lol The people that hates her has an easier time saying she's ugly because they don't feel they need to "connect" with her emotionally.

Why do some people hate Obama?

I think a lot of people hate whoever the president is after the first year or so in office. Looking back, Bush and Clinton were hated, people were always saying vicious things about them and blaming them for everything that happened under their watch usually without knowing half the facts. Some people think that if the president doesn't do everything perfect and make the USA a magic Utopia with a year, well, then eff him!

I do think there is a little more venom against Obama because of his race and name, he seems "foreign" to some people. Looking back over the past 50 years, I can only think of 3 presidents that were not hated very much, Carter, Ford and Kennedy. Everyone loves Kennedy because they feel bad that he got shot down in his prime, the other two are just thought of as mediocre and not really inspiring of either love or hate.

Why are people afraid to stand up against the tyranny of government?

Wouldn't you rather die defending liberty and what's right, instead of living in fear and letting other people suffer?

I'm talking particularly about the NDAA. Back in the time of the Founding Fathers, this would have been an act of war against the Constitution.

Why are people in Chicago against Obama’s library?

First of all, this is not the Presidential Library, it is being promoted as a Presidential Center. There is no current news about where the Presidential Library will be sited, or whether it will eventually be incorporated into the Center’s design. Second, the proposed location will use a lot of the land that is currently a beautiful park in a residential neighborhood. Traffic, parking, and the other necessities necessary to support the Library will have many many negative impacts on residents. There are enough alternate sites in Chicago to choose from that would be much better. This is yet another poorly thought through idea from Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Why are some white people afraid of becoming racial & ethnic minorities?

I am white so keep that in mind as you look at my answer.

The white males have held the majority of the positions of power. Now we are having women, and people of color moving into more and more positions of power.

The white guys are feeling their power diminishing and being diluted by females and non-whites.

I also believe that recently the total whites were exceeded by all those of non-white numbers.

Part of this is that like Obama...he is half black but we consider him for counting purposes as Black.

My wife has children she had with an India Indian. Now while she was white she had non-white children. This is happening in many marriages.

If the white guys were thinking they would change the way they count white and non-white.
One drop of white and you are a white person would give them their numbers back even though it is only a trick of statistical manipulation.

Why is Obama afraid to attack Da'esh (ISIS)?

Thanks for the A2A. I read the other answers and I agree with their points (i.e. civilian casualties, operation inherent resolve, the military advisors currently in Iraq). As such, I will just add a new point.I will address a norm of post-Cold-War U.S. (read Democrat party) foreign policy.Starting with Bill Clinton, the U.S. started avoiding operations that may cause high numbers of American casualties. This trend seemed to reflect onto Republicans as well (till 2003, the invasion of Iraq, which still had low casualties considering how big of an operation it was), both Bush senior and junior, but not as much. With Obama, this policy ("minimize army casualties") was reintroduced. This can be explained if you think about who Democrats appeal to.Has the U.S. stopped intervening? No, it has not. It just takes more cautious approaches. See for example the war against drugs in South America. For a relevant book on the policy norm of low casualties, see: The American Empire - Andrew Bacevich. He did publish it in 2002, and he did get some things wrong (both before and after the publication), and it may seem too "U.S. centered", but it worth a notice.

Why is Obama afraid to use the words "Radical Islam"?

Come on, do you really need Obama to say radical Islam so that you know what these terrorist groups are basing themselves on?The reason Obama will not call it “Radical Islam” is becuase everyone knows it’s radical Islam. The problem with Obama refferring to any Islamic based terrorism as “Radical Islam” is that although it is Radical Islam, it is not Islam.Obama saying “Radical Islam” will just legitimize Islamaphobes and radical Americans and could possibly create an unsafe situation for American Muslims just because of their religion (ironic, right?).He is refraining from saying “Radical Islam” not out of fear, but out of social responsibility.

Do the people who are shocked/afraid of Trump's rise to power feel the same way as the people who were shocked/afraid of Obama's rise to power?

The way I see it, we’ve been crying ‘wolf’ about politicians we disagree with for far too long. Mass delusion of this sort is being used as a political tactic far too frequently. So many people, such as myself, shake their heads with bemusement at these people. I realized how I had personally blown Dubya’s presidency out of proportion when I saw people doing the same with Obama’s presidency. Sure, I wasn’t old enough to vote at the time, but I was old enough to hold political opinions, and ardent ones at that. This year, it’s finally dawned on me: what would happen if we were to have a bona fide wolf running for President? Would anybody listen to the alarms? I also apply the question to Godwin’s Law, which merely reflects how hasty we are to make comparisons to Hitler. Again, crying wolf. Yet what I learned in history was that Hitler’s contemporaries severely underestimated just how dangerous the man was - until it was too late for them. I thought we were taught this so that we could recognize and stop future manifestations of Hitler. Instead, we proclaim to find Hitler under every rock, and behind every tree. And we rightly ignore these hysterical accusations. But what if the real thing were to arise? Would we listen?Because this time, I actually believe the threat may be real, and it terrifies me. Trump shamelessly uses race-baiting. He started mere minutes into his candidacy. Trump advocates violent, thuggish behavior among his followers. This is disturbing, to say the least. Trump has thin skin, and lashes out viciously at those who attack him. This does not bode well for international relations, to say the least. Trump threatens retaliation against personal enemies. Attacking a judge who is presiding over a case concerning a business of yours? That’s a blatant attempt to circumvent rule of law - and solely for personal gain.Trump doesn’t hide it. He gets cheered when he acts in this manner. He gets showered with media attention for this. Trump is openly advertising what kind of a person he is. And his followers believe that makes him the answer. So what do I think of the people who freaked out when Obama became President? I think they have made us deaf to their alarms. And I really wish they hadn’t.
