Tracking a package when should it be here lol other ?'s USA to Canada.?

The US Postal Service (USPS) does not ship to Canada.

USPS will drop your package off at a designated Canada Border Services depot, where the packages are screened. If the sender has the right paperwork on the package, it should clear customs pretty quickly. (Usually a little green sticker on the outside of the parcel tells customs a description of what's inside and how much it is worth) If not, it sits there on a shelf or in a bin until someone gets around to inspecting it. CBSA is even allowed to open your parcel if they suspect something valuable is being imported (to figure out duty/taxes to be paid), or to make sure that there is nothing illegal inside.

Now once the customs agents have approved its shipment, the parcel is handed off to Canada Post. They will then be responsible for delivering that package to your home. And if there is any duty or GST to collect on the parcel, they are given the right to collect those fees. It will arrive at your door with a COD payment required. That will include any duty, taxes, and possibly a Canada Post handling fee added on top.

Since the package states that it "left the Jamaica carrier facility", that means that they put it on a truck headed for the border. So by today, that truck either dropped off the package at customs, or the package was handed off to Canada Post by now and is in our Canadian mail system.

To be honest, my guess is that it will sit at the border for a few days, especially if the proper stickers or paperwork was not included on the outside of the package for international orders. This is the sticker I am talking about:

I suspect you will not see this delivery until end of the week, maybe even into the week of August 19.

But if you want to help improve our estimates here at Yahoo! Answers, you could come back here when you get the package, pick a best answer, and tell us what date you actually received it, and whether you were charged any extra fees.

Does Canada charge customs/duty fees for cheap stuff from AliExpress?

Canada Post says on their website that items under 20 $Canadian will pass through duty free...sometimes the cut a little slack on that and I've had items worth 25 or 30 dollars get through without duty or taxes charged. A value of 50$ CDN would be pushing it. I think when you buy on Aliexpress that the items generally are shipped direct from sellers- so in your case (unless those items were all from the same seller) they'd probably all be shipped separately anyway. As far as refusing to pay duty the only way you could do that is if they (Canada Post) sent you a delivery notice that stated you had to pay duty on it and you simply didn't go and pick it up at the PO. Eventually they would send it back but you might have a hard time getting a refund from the seller on Aliexpress in that event. This could get complicated if they actually delivered it to you with a notice for duty and taxes. You might end up shipping it back at your expense to get out of paying the taxes -AND you would probably find out that the cost to ship it back was more than the duty and taxes. Companies that sell stuff on Aliexpress can ship to Canada dirt cheap (or "free") as their shipping is subsidized by the Chinese government.

If I purchase something off craigslist from canada do I pay tax here?

My location is Washington State
The item location is Burnaby, Canada
item is hard flooring for sale by owner on WA craigslist
Cost is $200 (going to offer $150US)

I found some much needed hard flooring for sale listed on our local US/Washington Craigslist but discovered that the seller/flooring is actually located a few miles across the US border into Canada.

I am thinking of offering $150 US for it. The owners would have to meet me on this side (US) as I do not have a passport to cross.

One of my friends asked if I needed to pay tax on it coming across the border -I have no idea.

Can anyone tell me how this would work, or if it is possible please?

What is the "duty free import percentage between the U.S. and Canada?

It would have helped if you explained what info you were looking for in more detail.

If you mean how much is the duty (in percent) for duty free items, then Rona has it right. Duty Free means "no duty" and so "0%".

But what I suspect is that you meant to say is "What is my personal exemption amount for things you are bringing back from USA before you will be charged duty?". If so, here are the rules:

Less than 24 hours absence from Canada:
You have no exemption. Anything you bring back, you will be charged duty and taxes on, if applicable. Some items have no duty under NAFTA so it depends on the item as to HOW MUCH duty would be charged.

Over 24 hrs but less than 48hrs absence:
You are allowed to bring back items worth less than CAD$50. Beyond that, you get charged any duty or taxes on the items. (Tariff # 9804.40.00)

Over 48 hrs but less than 7 days
Your personal exemption is CAD$300 if no alcohol or tobacco products are purchased. If you are buying alcohol or tobacco, the limit is CAD$400. (Tariff # 9804.10.00 and 9804.30.00)

Over 7 days absence:
Your personal exemption increases to CAD$750. (Tariff # 9804.20.00)

If that is not what you meant, then I'd suggest posting a new question and rephrase it.

If other countries, such as Canada, think the US should lower our tariffs, why don’t they lower theirs?

In order to ask that question with a straight face, you would have to know nothing about trade. Nothing. Both the U.S. and Canada shield domestic industries with tariffs. President Trump likes to get angry about Canada’s dairy tariffs in particular: 270% on milk, 245% on cheese, and 298% on butter. The reason Canada does this is twofold: 1) The U.S. way overproduces dairy products, thus driving down prices, and 2.) The U.S. subsidizes its farmers, including doing things like spending taxpayer money simply to buy up cheese that nobody wants. We protect our dairy farmers just as you do — only the way we do it isn’t completely retarded. Even with the tariffs, American dairies still export about $630 million worth of products to Canada every year, as against approximately $120 million going the other way. So shut the fuck up about it already. At any rate, Canada and the U.S. do about $628 billion of business every year. Dairy is literally 0.1% of that. Starting a trade war over something as trivial as dairy tariffs is like amputating both your legs because you have some dry skin on one of your pinkies. But let’s return to hypocrisy. The U.S. has “unfair” tariffs to protect certain of its sectors as well: tobacco (350%), unshelled nuts (163.8%), peanuts (131.8%), processed fruits and vegetables (132%). On and on and on.This is why trade disagreements need to be settled by teams of experts, not a mentally ill orange man on Twitter.
