Are Tough People Immune To Harshness Or Criticism

Is there any kind of criticism that can still be expressed towards people without being called racist or names?

Nope. Sad to say, but I’ve watched this evolve over the last 20–25 years, and there it is.I believe our immigration system, both our enforcement, and our legal immigration process, is badly, badly broken and in need of an overhaul. I even ATTEMPT this discussion, as a white male in my 40’s, and I am immediately branded a racist.I believe that gay people should have the right to marry, but we need to be very careful and circumspect about how we amend our laws to avoid unintended consequences (like the guy that sued in California to be able to marry his horse… ). I am branded as a homophobe.I believe that modern Islam in the world has a major problem on its hands, with people calling themselves Muslims being the source of 80% of the worlds current wars, and terrorism, globally. The socioeconomic conditions that breed the radical Islamic sects need to be corrected - and this will take the assistance of everyone. I am branded an Islamophobe.I believe that women have the absolute right to control their bodies. I also believe that tax dollars should not pay for abortion. Not because of the moral issue, but because that should not be a role the Federal Government takes on. I am quite amenable to having state governments, and local governments involved. I am branded a misogynist.I could go on, and on… I typically no longer have these discussions with people who are not long standing friends. I work in a very liberal workplace, with a few extremists, and I could easily be fired for discussing any of those topics at work… because I must be a Racist, Homophobic, Islamaphobic, Misogynist.I have no right to speak. I have no right to an opinion. If I express an “unpopular” opinion, I can be destroyed by an accusation. There will be no trial. There will be no due process. I will be executed by someone with a grudge, and the power of social media and hypersensitive HR policies. I made someone “feel uncomfortable” because I dared to speak in disagreement with someone who is not a white male in his 40’s.This is not the country I grew up in. This is not what I was taught was right.

Can bugs and spiders become immune to pesticides?

Yes they can, once they get used to it. They can adapt slowly as generations pass. Arthropods in general are known to be quite firmly connected with their environment, so they can easily adapt to climate changes and other stuff. It mainly depends on the strength of the pesticide, if it is made by a well known company and by better scientists over a long period of study, it can be unadaptable or it may take the insects a long time to adapt. You can watch movies that are related with this topic.

How is it that some people are reportedly immune to being shot with a taser?

If both probes make contact, you are going to lock up. Period. Tasers hit the motor nerves and - once that circuit is completed, you lose control over your body. Period.Clothing - like flannel or leather - can keep one or both of the probes from penetrating the dermis and completing the circuit. even a few layers of cotton, fleece, or a loose hoodie can keep the taser probes from a solid connection. In those cases, you will not be happy when the perp doesn’t drop.PCP will not shield you from a properly deployed taser hit that has solid contact. Period. Some people confuse tasers with stun guns. Stun guns use pain compliance - which can be shrugged off if you are tough enough or on a drug that blocks pain receptors. Like PCP. Tasers? IF the circuit is completed, they send an electrical impulse that ‘speaks’ to the neurons and shorts them out. When the body is overwhelmed by this signal, it overrides the body’s natural signal and down ya go.A lot of this is hitting social media because LA has had less then stellar results. It seems that they are not properly trained, are using them improperly, or are shooting perps who are too far away. 15–20 feet seems to be the recommended range, though there is a self-contained shotgun shell variant that has a little more ‘reach out and touch someone’. Not sure if anyone uses them in the US.Hope this helps.

Is it true that mentally strong people are immune to depression?

I was her friend, since school. She was one of those students who always had a smile on her face, wherever she goes it's a party.Academically, she was out of top 10 in school, then one day we heard her elder sister committed suicide, she was the first one to discover the body, at a very early adolescent age.No one knew what went through her mind, no one but me, she confided in me.That very same year, a few months after that incident, her father lost his job. I could see the vacant eyes of her when someone asked her “what your parents do?” We were still in high school then. She studied from old books, shared mine, rarely bought new, avoided all celebrations, but never lost her smile. The very next year, she became school topper , a winning streak she will go on maintaining till her college life, from school to district to state, everyone was spellbound, including me.Yes, there were signs of mental stress, infrequent temper outbursts, self harming tendencies but no one including her family sought help of a medical professional.Later on, she went on same medical university along with me, different college though. She was in love and it appeared she had mellowed down than previous,There was a particular stressful time, when neither me nor her boyfriend was available to her due to work schedule and all hell broke loose. Luckily, as she was working with other professors they diagnosed her. She had to take a leave of almost 12 months before resuming internship. Did “depression” stop her? Had I been at her place with a suggested 12 months leave before completing requirements of my permanent registration number, with a chance of prolongation of leave depending on psychological health,I would have lost it. She didn't. Despite being faced with what I think is the greatest adversity I could only imagine , she regained her confidence, cleared the backlog, studied hard, this year her NEET 2017 PGMEE result is astonishing, and I am happy to have my friend back. As much I know, she is undergoing therapy but is clinically fit to do duty.Point of the story - it's what we do when faced with adversity , that decides whether we are strong or not.Mentally strong people are not immune to depression, they just don't forget to bounce back, no matter how hard they have been hit.(All uploaded images belong to respective owners, I do not own them, used here for educational purposes, no copyright infringement intended)

What are some criticisms towards ethical utilitarianism?

Thanks for the A2A to the question "What are some criticisms towards ethical utilitarianism?".Utilitarianism does look like the most ethical philosophy until you start examining it more closely. The greatest good for the greatest number seems like a no-brainer, a Doh! moment, right up until you start to wonder about what's happening to the lesser number. You're not going to have the Benthamite ideal until everybody has enough to eat of the right kinds of foods, somewhere reasonably decent to live with a proper environment, free education to the highest level they want and can handle, free medical care encompassing all procedures and drugs and dealing with addictions, unrestricted access to all forms of communication and sources of information (so free Internet at home to go with the public libraries already existing), and all the rest of it: all paid for by income tax graduated according to income.Even the most enlightened countries aren't managing all of that lot; at best we're struggling along on most people having most of it, and much of the world hasn't even got that far. Even in Finland there are some people who are in want that could be alleviated by a proper distribution of resources to literally everybody.Until we do get there, the Benthamite principles used by the most progressive of existing governments mean that some of the people they're governing are being treated as things: they're considered disposable, as collateral damage in the drive to provide the greatest good for the greatest number. This is no different from the trolley problem: the fat man is a person, not a thing, so it can never be right to push him onto the rails however many other lives are saved. That's what's wrong with Utilitarianism.

Why do religious people think that their religion is immune to criticism?

Criticism in a way is lack of knowledge about something being criticised. So, we need to educate the masses about the real identity of the religion we practise. There should be no gap between what we preach and practise. The gap creates the confusion in the mind and then criticism begins. Those who practise what they preach, never get offended by any tough questions /statements /criticism, rather they take it as an opportunity to make people aware about the true philosophy of their religion.Thanks.

How good are you at taking criticism?

Now that I'm older I take criticism pretty well. With me it usually ends up the criticizer gets angry at me because I usually give them a sarcastic remark back (and I'm good at that).

Are You Susceptible Or Immune to Sexual Temptations?

Let me just say that it isn't just tough "these days". People have been pressured into sex for all sorts of different reasons since sex was invented. My advice to you is stop watching television. This will not only help you with sexual temptation, but also helps in avoiding materialism, buying useless things, and also frees up time so you can learn something useful. It is my personal opinion that if you're safe about it, go have sex all you want. Do it with someone you care about, and there's nothing you should regret. It's human. The vast majority of humans are born without any inkling of a Christian God's approval.

Is it true that cats are immune to scorpions?

Some scorpions aren't really poisonous enough to bother you or your pets. However, the venom of bark scorpions - the ones that can climb vertical surfaces, such as your leg - includes a toxin that hits the nervous system. If one stings a dog it can cause drooling, breathing difficulties, muscle tremors or even a coma. Dogs have even been known to come down with "severe hemorrhagic pancreatitis" after being stung by scorpions. A lot of it depends on how big the dog is. A smaller pooch is more likely to be sickened by a scorpion sting than a larger animal. Cats in general, but not always, seem to be immune to scorpion venom, although no one seems to know why. I have not been able to find any defining articles on the subject. I did find several articles which said that Meerkats have developed an immunity to scorpions. Perhaps somewhere along the way, as word-of-mouth tends to do, the "Meer" got dropped and all that was remembered was "Cat." It's a thought. But, it is true that cats are fast. I have had cats that have proudly brought home a lot of snakes as presents for me. It baffles me how they manage to kill that snake without getting bitten, but they do. So, perhaps it's the same for scorpions. Maybe it's not so much immunity as it is swiftness.
