Are Video Games Cheaper In Japan

Are video games cheaper in Japan?

Some are, some aren't. I've seen games range from 3,000 yen (about 30 dollars) to 9,000 yen (close to 90 dollars). Why these are more expensive than others are beyond me. Your guess is as good as mine. From what I've seen it doesn't even have to do with the age of the game, either.

Amazon is pretty fair. You could check it out.

I saw that the PS4 in Japan is about 250 dollars cheaper than in India. So is it worth buying a PS4 from Japan?

250$ difference should not be a problem. It is way harder to import stuff than buying locally. If you have a friend there you can ask them to purchase one for you, and you can pay them back. This way it is cheap.

Why are a vast majority of Video Games come from japan?

There are a couple of ways to approach this question: the general and the specific.   In general, Japan has been at the forefront of consumer electronics for about half a century now.  I could go into the cultural and economic theories about why that is, but suffice it to say, Japan has been a leader in developing and manufacturing electronic devices for home use for quite some time, and it's not too surprising that video games would be a logical extension of that.Specifically, in the 1970's and 1980's, as video games started to be a really viable and marketable product.  Home consoles started to become both common and profitable, and the industry was booming.  Unfortunately, the boom was unsustainable.  A lot of different companies wanted to get in on the business, leading to a market saturated with different game systems, and flooded with low-quality, quickly produced games.  This culminated in what's known as The Great Video Game Crash of 1983.  The whole gaming market contracted, and a lot of companies went out of business. One of the only companies to survive this  massive contraction was Nintendo.  In 1985, with most American game companies defunct or dying, they successfully took the NES across the Pacific and established a powerful and lasting foothold in the international games market. Later, Sega developed its own console, and still later, Sony got into the console game.  All of these companies are Japan-based, and became major players, while the US had been or or less cleared of competitors, and it was years before anyone got in the market with any kind of success.Having all the biggest game companies in Japan for over a decade had a number of effects.  It encouraged the creation and growth of game developers in Japan, and it ensured that Japanese culture and aesthetics would have a major influence on the design of games.  Once most of us grew up on games made in Japan, there was a tendency to expect future games to have a similar feel, which continued giving Japanese developers an advantage.Of course, there are a million more details in the history, and certainly some details that I'm leaving out, but those are the basics of why Japan is stil such a big presence in the industry.

Is buying binoculars in Japan cheaper than the US.?

I'm planning on going to Japan in the near future for vacation. I know Nikon is a good optics company in Japan. I was wondering if it was cheaper to buy some high end binoculars in Japan. I know birding is very popular in Japan. I've been to Akihabara before and couldn't really find what I needed. Does anyone have any idea where to go in Japan to buy some good optics. My main concern is the price. Would it be sustantialIy cheaper since the binoculars are made in Japan? I will be staying around the Tokyo area. Thank you

Why was Cheap Trick so popular in Japan?

Cheap Trick had a unique sound and style that the US didn’t embrace right away. The US embraced the Beatles to a level that was well beyond anything they saw in the UK. Cheap Trick was playing gigs in the midwest when Jack Douglas discovered them and knew what they had. For several years after they recorded and played live (bowling alleys, country bars, blues bars, bars, fairs, anywhere) - this helped define Cheap Trick as a live band with a love for playing music any time and anywhere. While they crafted their act and got better and better playing together, their singles were not played by American disc jockeys enough for American audiences to catch on. In Japan their albums were received well. While they were rocking out in Wisconsin, their audience base in Japan grew to a mass level - Japanese audiences didnt care if they were from NY or LA, it was the sound they fell in love with. US disk jockeys were more concerned with status quo. Japan recognized a sound that was ahead of its time. Cheap Trick possessed both style and substance. Rick Nielsen was defining 80’s fashion in the late 70’s - Whether people know it or not, much of what American pop culture embraced sound and fashion-wise was right in front of them as Rick Nielsen jumped around with checked pants, flipped up cap, and bow tie. His on stage presence was as big as their unique sound. Today contemporary audiences and artists recognize he is the “guitarists guitarist” - Japan realized this before Americans - Their success in Japan lead to more exposure in the US and once people listened it was a done deal. The defining band of the late 70’s and 80’s - They still define “work ethic” in context of music to this day. Rush and Cheap Trick have been rocking out and performing live constantly since the 70’s. That is what sets a band apart from others. They will play wherever and whenever just like before they had their fame in the US - Work Ethic - Japanese people like work ethic I guess. They must also like amazing music. Cheap Trick was smart to stay away from politics. Recently Robin Zander made an offensive and ignorant statement pertaining to politics however quieted down shortly after. The core of Cheap Trick is Rick Nielsen and not Zander, Rick is smart and talks guitars and raises money for charities rather than dividing audiences with political statements. Japanese people like Cheap Trick because its all about the music with foreign audiences- and Japanese people are smart.

Dont u think it is so unfair that in Japan Video game rental is irrigul?

Absolutely not. The fact that games are about 3 times cheaper than in austrlia and USA you should be happy your getting them cheap. lets say the cost of a game is $100 year, au, to rent a game like that its $6 for one night, thats anywherein the world, in the US It would be $50 for the game but like 3-4 dollars to rent overnight.

you can play the campaign nicely over a week, 7 days, so thats half the price. the fact that you own the game is great, you can go online, share with friends, its awsome!

So you get a game about 2-3 times cheaper (i have a japanjiese friend) and i am jelous, pity japanes games dont work on austrlian consoles.

So id be extremely happy that you live in japan and dont sell you ps3. ITs very handy in numerous ways.

ALSO REMEMBER THIS. GAME COPIES ARE USUALY SCRATCHED, AND ARE IN BAD COPY'S!
