Both...well thats just me but generally the right one, i guess until the exact middle then both of them are yours, then the left one is yours from then on...

This is the real tough question and no clear answer is available.In movie theaters both sides of aisle seats have armrest. So side people can easily enjoy their private armrest.The problem arises when you have center seats and person sitting besides you has conquered your armrest as well…… then there is no option but to keep your hands to yourself ….. awkwardly folded on your lap or chest ….Personally I like to have both armrests just the back part to rest my elbows …..It's really nice to have both armrests ……

Our local cinema has those stupid armrests that you can't move, so we have adapted. Normally, my boyfriend will lean over the armrest, lying his hand parallel with it but on my side - if that makes any sense. Then we just hold hands and sort of lightly carress eachother's arms. Sometimes he'll lean on me, or sometimes we'll switch it around and I can rest my head on his shoulder. It's not too over the top and pretty subtle, so it works for us.
Movie theaters with removable armrests?
AMC theaters have armrests that pull up. Some other theaters have the same thing but many do not know it. I found out the hard way when it moved and I thought I broke the armseat. Only suggestion would be to call that particular theatre and ask them.

Unfortunetly, thats a issue here in the theaters.. There is only one that all the auditoriums have seats where the armrests go up and thats AMC in Times Square.

The one to your right is your armrest. Unless…you are sitting next to me, because I get both armrests no matter where I am. That’s right, they are both mine. If you don’t like it go sit somewhere else.
