At A Take Of Japan And The U.s

How long will it take to get to japan by boat?

i have no idea how long it would take to get from jersey to tokyo by ship and i'm not even sure if you can get a cruise that accomplishes that mission. however, why would you want to waste so much time on a boat if you are "obsessed" with japan and wish to get there quickly? fly from JFK to seattle...about 4 and 1/2 hours. then fly from seatac to narita...about 10-11 hours. i understand people have a fear of flying but it's much safer than driving a vehicle. i also understand some people become obsessed or have a fetish about japan but we are pretty much like anyone else as far as people goes. sure there are beautiful sights and the people are the most polite and accomodating on the planet but japan (especially tokyo) is quite an expensive place to hang out for the sake of hanging out. spend a week...go to tokyo disney, go to the snow festival in sapporo, visit mount fuji, party hard in shinjuku...just bring lots of yen and come with a plan.

How long does it take to travel from the US/Canada to Japan by waterways (Pacific Ocean)?

It depends on what type of ship you are in.A modern US or Canadian navy destroyer can cross the Pacific Ocean from San Diego or Vancouver BC to Okinawa in under 10 days at top speed. It’s a bit faster from Bremerton or Vancouver to Honshu, but by less than a day or two.A cargo ship is slower, and takes 14–20 days depending on the make and how heavy the stuff they are carrying is, and how long they spend stopped, unloading or collecting cargo at various ports along the way.A private ship or even yacht might be slower or faster than the cargo ship, depending mostly on the make.Obviously, going from the Eastern US or Canada, rather than the West Coast, is much slower. It would probably take up to 3 weeks and they would have to cross the expensive Panama Canal.

If it was sent via airmail about 6-7 days.

If it was sent via surface mail about 2 months.

If the earth is round, why does a flight from Japan to the USA take 12 hours?

A result of some quick google searches:-Delhi, India to San Francisco, USA takes ~15 hours-Tokyo, Japan to San Francisco, USA takes only ~9 hoursIf the earth were flat and not spherical and we had to fly in the west direction from the eastern countries, the latter flight should’ve taken much more time than the former flight, whereas it is the opposite. When even non stop domestic flights in the US from Seattle WA to Miami, FL can take almost 6 hours, why is it not okay to take 9 hours to cover the massive Pacific Ocean?Bonus fact: One of the eastern ends of Russia and western ends of Alaska are separated by the Bering Strait and the distance is merely ~55 miles! If one flew a chopper over that distance, it should be done in half an hour I think.

Why can't nations like USA, China, Japan take part in the Commonwealth games?

The Commonwealth Games are only for members of the Commonwealth of Nations, so the US would need to address that first. Based on my interpretation of the membership rules, the US could join, but membership would imply (even if it's not true) that the US is subservient to the British Crown. The US has no interest in the Commonwealth and it would be politically untenable to pursue membership due to the aforementioned implication. Therefore, the US will never participate in the Commonwealth Games.I have heard one interpretation which says that the US can't join the Commonwealth because the US as a whole was never a British colony, but the 13 original colonies could individually seek membership.

About how long did it take to travel from Japan to the US (or vice versa) in the early 1900s?

Well, if considering steam ships were available, and they were, but the demand was more to/from the USA and Europe…it was a slow boat, literally, from Japan to the US.About three weeks. It was no cruise ship like the Titanic either…try a cargo ship loaded with actual cargo and then the human cargo. It wasn't a nice cruise.Three weeks was the best guess I was able to find. No one really cared then - certainly not the crew or their company. The people cared but who cared what they thought. Three weeks would be a good average.

How long does it take a letter to reach Japan from USA?

I am trying to mail documents for a Japanese Visa, and I am just wondering how long it takes if you just take a letter to the post office and mail it that way. I've already mailed the letter, but I found out there is a deadline approaching, and I am wondering if I should go ahead and FedEx the letter.
