Attempt At Syphoning Gas From A Car Causing Major Damage. What Are The Criminal Implications

Does putting water in the fuel tank of a car ruin the car?

Even a small amount of water in an engine cylinder has a devastating effect. Imagine what would a substantial amount of water in the engine would do!The engine would absolutely refuse to crank.Assuming the water is not enough to prohibit cranking, the fuel injectors would have problems injecting fuel and water at high pressures, due to the higher density of water.Presence of water would inhibit combustion in the cylinders. This depends on the amount of water present. If the water content is high enough, it would be difficult to initiate combustion. (This is the reason for point 1) The water present in the fuel+water mixture would also absorb a portion of the heat energy generated by the inhibited combustion, reducing the already low efficiency of the engine.Depending on the source, water could contain a large number of dissolved compounds. These could corrode the cylinder liners. The water would also cool the cylinder walls abnormally, causing non-uniform expansion. We have established that water does cause harm. The air around us does contain some water vapour though, which could cause a lot of harm. What do you do in such an unavoidable case? You put a filter in the fuel line that carries fuel to the injectors. This filter separates water and removes it, protecting the engine from harm.If you do decide to experiment and put water in the fuel tank, (I absolutely do not take responsibility for planting ideas!) and are done damaging the cylinders, just know that it is not the end of the world. You can still drain the water from the tank. Fuel- Diesel or Petrol, is lighter than water. If you let the mixture settle for a while, the fuel would start floating above the water. Now you can just drain the water out. There are provisions made in fuel tanks for this.It is a terrible idea to put water in the fuel tank deliberately. Unless you want to wreak havoc, do not consider doing this. All the best, and may your engine run water-free!

What should you do if someone put sugar in your gas tank?

Read this linkSugar in the Gas TankIt won’t do any harm. It might restrict the flow through the strainer in the gas tank, and if the strainer is missing or broken, it will clog up your fuel filter, restricting fuel flow there. How would you know that someone put sugar in your gas tank? My guess is that most people that have had sugar put in their gas tank never find out that it has been done because it doesn’t do any harm.If I didn’t have a locking fuel cap, I would be more worried about someone stealing my gas than about someone putting sugar in the tank. A tank of gas costs about ten times more than a new fuel filter.

What will happen if a person accidentally drinks kerosene/petrol/diesel?

My friends and I were on vacation in Pondicherry in March 2016. One night, a friend of mine Hari (name changed) woke up thirsty, grabbed the bottle nearest to him and took a gulp. It was only after Hari had swallowed it did he realise it was petrol. We kept with us a Kinley bottle filled with petrol for our rental bikes. He felt slightly queasy (probably because of the taste) but quickly went back to sleep. The following morning, Hari was experiencing uneasiness, body aches, and nausea. It took him two days and a lot of hydration to get back to normal.Drink lots of water. You want to flush the chemicals out of your system as soon as possible.Visit a hospital, if possible, especially if you have consumed large quantities of petrol.Edit 1: Advice from Hari himself - "Don't panic. You're not gonna die, unless you drank the entire fuel station."
