Background In Windows 7 Changes By Itself

Background in Windows 7 changes by itself?!?

It seems like someone else has either downloaded the image while you were asleep, or you have a form of virus which is harmless, but tries to annoy you by changing certain things in your computer. Get malwarebytes then run it. Hopefully it will remove whatever viruses you have.

My Windows background keeps changing on its own even though it is in the 'picture' mode. What should I do?

Occasionally, when you originally update to Windows 10 or set up any attribute upgrade of Windows 10, your own desktop settings may get booted, and all of the new alterations you make to be able to fix them remain just before a reboot or a shutdown.Open RUN CommandType powercfg.cpl and hit EnterFor your selected power plan, click on Change Plan Settings.click on Change advanced power settings.Expand the option that says Desktop Background Settings. Next, set the slideshow to be Disabled or Paused for both the scenarios: On Battery and Plugged in.Reboot your PC.You can also check the other solutions here: https://www.techzac.com/desktop-...

Laptop's background won't change?

i got a new Toshiba mini notebook yesterday. It works fine and all but for some reason I can't seem to change the background. I'm pretty experienced with computers so I know how to change backgrounds already.

When I right click a picture, the "Set desktop background" button isn't there. It only shows up for pictures on the internet, not the ones that are already saved. I have to open it in another program such as paint to save it as a background. But for some reason even though I do press it the background that came with the laptop won't change? I'm on my main user right now so I don't see why it will not change.

Additional info- it's windows 7

thanks! ^-^

Where is the Windows 7 desktop background pic saved?

Try looking in "%SystemRoot%\Web\Wallpaper" and in "%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows Photo Viewer" (To get there, copy and paste that into the Run box.)

If it's there, it'll already be an image file (jpg, bmp, etc).

If not, try this: Right-click the Desktop > Personalize > click the "Desktop Background" link > Right-click the Picture > Properties. Under "Location" it'll say where you can find it. (Credit: Izy) [EDIT: This won't work if the picture is deleted. Sorry.]

If you still can't find it, try un-deleting the original one by looking in the Recycle Bin. If it's not there, try using this program: http://www.piriform.com/recuva

If you still can't find it, and can't undelete it, try this hack: Go to your desktop. Right-click > View > Uncheck "Show Desktop Icons" and "Show Desktop Gadgets." Then press the PrintScreen button (on your keyboard) or use the Snipping Tool to take a screenshot. Then paste it into Paint\Save it w' the Snip Tool. Tada!

Why the background of Windows 7 disappears?

Well, please be more clear about what happens. "Disappears" isn't enough, sorry.I have one solution for one very specific problem which can occur, I don't know the precise reason though. What happens is, that the desktop background becomes completely black, and it doesn't correct itself no matter how many times you change the theme/desktop background from the settings. The TranscodedWallpaper.jpg becomes corrupt, making it impossible to change your wallpaper. Solution - (From Microsoft Support)Click Start, paste the following text into the search box, and then press Enter "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\"Right-click the TranscodedWallpaper.jpg file, and then click Rename.Change the file name to TranscodedWallpaper.old, and then click Yes when you are prompted. If slideshow.ini is listed, double-click this file. Slideshow.ini should open in Notepad. Select all the text in slideshow.ini if any exists, and then press Delete on the keyboard. On the File menu, click Save.Close Notepad.Close the Windows Explorer window, and then browse to the picture that will be set as the background image.Try to apply a background picture again. If it doesn't solve your problem, make it more clear please. And check out the solutions from Microsoft Support here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/...

I have 2 computers. If I change the desktop background on one, a few days later the other computer changes too (to the same background) without my intervention. Why is this happening?

Are you running Windows 10 on both computers? Have you associated your Hotmail Email account on both computers? If so what you are seeing is normal. It happens to me as well.Microsoft is syncing the background wallpaper of both your computers in the (mistaken or not) belief that you’d like a relatively seamless Microsoft 10 Windows user experience on both devices. While it can’t control what is installed on each device (say one is for serious art production work and the other for games and media consumption only) it can certainly control and sync your wallpapers.Sometimes it’s nice, other times annoying. I have to remember to not put pictures of my little kids having a *funny but messy* mealtime on my desktop lest it be shared with the other device and a different circle of peers.

Can't Change Theme on Windows 7 Professional? ?

sometimes Windows 7 installs itself in such a way, that it glitches up.
Before I had to reformat, I could put on a desktop background, and BAM it would change back to the original background without permission.

Try a system restore?
