So, If a stranger wants to add you in his Whatsapp account, you must first share your cellphone number with that stranger, then he may add it to his address book and in a couple of minutes your name will be visible in his Whatsapp messenger. Alternatively, You can also ask hi cellphone number and then add him in your phones's address book and then message him something like "Hi.." from his name in Whatsapp messenger. What is the difference between block and mute in whatsapp?
Mute will simply turn off all the notification sounds and vibration feedback for the notification for the new chat message from a person. But, all the content will be shown when you open the Whatsapp application.In the case of Block, you won't get any message from the person if he sends a message. It won't be shown up in your mobile while you visit their chat thread. Additionally, they can't see your profile picture, last seen time, online status. In simple terms, you may need mute for your mother's profile whereas block for your ex's profile.

I'm going to be blunt. The other answer is much better, but here are my two cents.They blocked you for a reason. Clearly, they do not want to be contacted by you. So please, don't make this worse and go out and try to Facebook message them or tango them. Please.Secondly, since I see so many of these answers (I’m serious), let's go back to a basic lesson on blocking. Blocking is where one member of a friendship (or just relationship between two humans) blocks and removes all contact between another person. This person must just suck it up and move on. The person who blocked the other person has full control weather or not the other user may contact them. The person who was blocked cannot undo this. Why does everyone think they can?! Or, try to sort something out. But clearly, if they blocked you, they were far past the sorting out phase.In hindsight, just let them be. They'll either come around and talk to you, or the won't. It'll be stressful not hearing from them when you desperately want to fix things, but they resorted to the last step.-Emma.
