Before The Baby - Book Ideas

Title for my book? Plot ideas?!?

As I have shared before spending time worrying about titles is a was of time for any new writer - all publisher reserve the right to title the book so your pick is meaningless anyway - all you need is a working title -also as this is a novel a novel is easier to title after it is written - you have the cart before the horse

Plots - you seem to have no working knowledge of writing at all - I will only share this - never use chance to help your character - the reader needs to see the protagonist struggle to overcome problems and the more you throw in their way the better. Also you have about three paragraphs to hook the reader - start strongly and stay strong - show the action and never, never tell the reader anything - show within the confines of the story

Welcome to the Jungle, Jelly Bean!

Did you finish your baby book?

I decided to use technology to help me make and complete the fabled "baby book." We have a Mac and I use the iCal feature to jot down milestones to remind me! I also use iPhoto to assemble books --- yes plural! There are set templates to make books. You drag and drop your pics in, you can change the layout and number of pictures per page to your liking and add text and then you send it to Apple to have it printed and bound in a hardcover book. They really are nice and easy enough! I have made 4 already (0-3 months, 3-6, 6-9 and 9-12). The other great thing is, you can then get multiple copies made. Grandma has already put in a request to have copies of them at her house and I think I will print two for our home, one for us to keep and one set for my daughter to take with her when she is grown up.

I treated the text like a story about the baby, so it will be fun to read them with her. She loves looking at pictures of herself, so I think these will be wonderful keepsakes, but also something we interact with on a regular basis. I just need to wait until Saturday when she turns one so I can complete the 9-12 month book!

We are also doing shadow boxes for her first baby shoes and things like that. I found some nice plain white ones at IKEA that worked perfect for her 0-6 months Robeez :)

Mom to be coupon book, need ideas for it.?

Uninterupted Nap/Shower/Meal
(Just have mom nurse just before hand and hold/play with the baby)
There are so many things like that she'll love to have now and then.

The other suggestions here are good too... I love the late night call/vent. I had PPD with one of my babies and called on *several* people once so that I wasn't burdening anyone more than once. (Not that they would have seen it that way... but I felt it would be a burden.) Having people out there who let me know I could call without guilt was a Godsend.

If I think of anything else worthwhile that hasn't been mentioned I'll come back and add it.

Why would you need a baby name book?

If you are a parent who is expecting a new baby, then one of the things that you should start looking for is a baby names book. So many parents out there are faced with the problem of picking the right name for their babies and the obvious mistake that most of them end up making is giving their baby a reduculus name. This is infact one of the worse mistakes that a parent can ever do to his baby because names normally have meanings and for those who believe, a name with a bad meaning will make your baby to become someone with unpleasant characters in the future. Baby name books are all over stores and you can also get one easily through the internet. The advantage of going for this books while still waiting for your baby to come into the world is that you will have enough time to read through some of the names available in them as well as getting their origin and their meanings. There are different types of baby names books. There are some that only contain names for male babies; some are strictly for female babies while others contain names for both male and female babies. If you are a parent who does not want to spoil the surprise by finding out the sex of your baby before he or she is born, then a general baby names book is exactly what you should look for. There are however some parents who wait until the baby is delivered so that they may know which type of baby name book to go for.

How should I sign a book or card for a baby shower?

As a greeting card author I can tell you that there really are many different things you can write in a baby shower card or book. The most important thing is to write something which comes from the heart and wishes the family well. I know sometimes it isn’t easy to come up with something, so you could get some ideas or inspiration from a collection such as this one: Baby Shower Wishes. Here are my own favorites from that collection:A precious gift all bundled and tied, best wishes for you and your baby inside. Many congratulations to you!Congratulations! You’ve been given the most valuable gift life has to offer.Warmest wishes to you as you enter this exciting new adventure. All the best to you and your baby!I look forward to being a part of this new journey. I can’t wait to help you with your little bundle of joy. Congratulations! All the best I wish to you, may your baby arrive healthy and bouncing too. Happy baby shower!May you cherish every minute because time flies so fast. God bless you and your new baby! The cuddling, the snuggling, the kissing and the loving. All of it you get to enjoy with the arrival of your new little bundle of joy.May you and your baby be showered with a lifetime of great happiness and blessings.

What are some of the best ideas with raising a baby on a budget?

This question is fun and funny… honestly, it’s best to break this down into a child-rearing philosophy:Don’t fall for gimmicks. Baby needs YOU above all else. That said, if you really crunch numbers, it is possible to discover that it would be CHEAPER to stay home with baby rather than spend ridiculous amounts of money on daycare (at least for the first two years). Before you tell me this is a privilege of the wealthy, a disclaimer: I was a very resourceful mother of three on an extremely limited income (less than 25K USD/year) and I managed it…until the last child turned 3.Don’t by anything new unless it needs to be sterile before your baby uses it (pacifiers, bottle nipples, rectal thermometers).Accept used toys and hand-me-down clothes (inspect toys for broken parts/loose parts)Grow some food, and let your kids play in the dirt. The boost to their immunity will save you on medications and doctor visits.Cut the fat from your own life: ditch cable, buy your clothes second-hand and accept clothing from others for yourself. I got some amazing, beautiful clothing this way—stuff I NEVER would have bought for myself but thoroughly enjoyed having.Library, used book sales, book swaps.Share care (1–3 hours at a time) with other moms you know. One thing I never went cheap on: FOOD. Nourishment has value. I also managed to feed my family very high-quality, organic when available, whole foods on that same cheap budget. And one other thing: avoid the urge to do expensive birthday parties and stop the gift train: most of that stuff your kid will never use anyway. When my kids started wanting birthday parties, I went to the butcher in my grocery store, asked how much for about 12 feet of butcher paper (they gave it to me) made some cool finger paints with home ingredients, invited everyone over, and strictly said NO GIFTS: please bring a canned good or non-perishable for the food bank. A couple of days later, we headed over to the food bank and spent an hour stocking their shelves with the loot.Be creative instead of impulsive! That saves tons of money!
