Bellburton Piercing Has A Knot Where My Piercing Used To Be

What could cause a bump on your belly button piercing?

The bump is caused by your body trying to reject the piercing. Having a metal belly button ring isn't natural and your body has no idea what it is. It's first reaction is to protect itself by getting rid of the piercing and healing itself. The bump is your body's reaction and it's way of closing the hole. It is completely normal and isn't a cause for concern. I never had any problems with my belly button ring, but I know some people who's body rejected the piercing and pushed the jewelry out. Keep cleaning it and twisting the piercing around so it doesn't stick to your skin as it heals. Also don't mess with it unless you are cleaning it because it could get infected and that will make it more likely for your body to reject it. If it doesn't go away after a few weeks or if it gets bigger, go back to the tattoo shop where you got it done and see what they think about it. Sometimes they will recommend a cream to put on it or they might tell you that you need to take it out and try and get it pierced again later.

Bump on my belly button piercing?

i have something similiar to you do. i also thought it was infected and went to the doctor and they told me to take it out. and of course, i left it in. it turns out it is called a keloid (sp). it is simply a bump of scar tissue. mine is rather quite large and i freaked out when i realized it was there too. i picked and pinched at it until it bleed. i also only had a clear/ white discharge. I also tried stabbing it with a needle because i thought maybe it was a puss pocket and that it needed to be violently popped. lol. but nothing happened. i then called the shop where i got it done and they said to put tea tree oil on it to help remove the excess tissue. but that didn't work either. it only left me smelling like a hippie, needless to say, it REALLY smelled funky. lol. So i gave up on that too. i eventually gave up on trying to get rid of this bump, and it turns out, that there is really nothing wrong with it, just for built up scar tissue. my belly button piercing is doing fine and once i quit trying to get stuff out, it healed and the tissue is slowly getting smaller.

i would suggest leaving it alone unless it has colored discharge, then i would go to a doctor cause it is probably infected. sorry :(

I have a bleeding bump next to my belly button piercing, what should I do?

Don't worry! :) I've had my bellybutton pierced twice now, and both times I ran into this issue. I believe it's just a blood blister. The first time I had this, I worried and decided to take my belly ring out... big mistake! Leave it in and just make sure to keep cleaning it properly with sea salt soaks. It will eventually clear up on its own! Mine cleared up after about two weeks. Good luck!

What is the best way to treat an infected belly button piercing?

Best advice is to consult your piercer, they typically will take care of you until the piercing has fully healed.  If you can move your torso around, touch or bump the jewelry and not scream in awful pain, it is likely that it is not infected but instead, irritated.  Without seeing the piercing and discharge, I am unable to give a more clear answer.  I can tell you from my personal experience, though, that I had a genital piercing which took 9 months to fully heal.  During the healing period, I followed all after-care procedures to the letter and it became irritated three times.  It was slightly red and irritated and oozing a ton of clear/whiteish lymph.  Each of those three times, I consulted my piercer who took one look at it and immeidately said, "It's not infected, it's irritated, just continue with your aftercare and leave it alone until it heals."  On my third visit, he volunteered the information above, that if you can touch or move the jewelry without doubling over in pain, it's likely not infected.  Here is another resource for you:  How to Tell if a Piercing Is Infected

Why is around my belly button piercing hard?

It's One of two things.
1.It's just crusting. It's completely normal and healthy. It's basically plasma build up around the piercing. Since it's a puncture wound it takes a while to heal and will probably crust for a month or two after the piercing itself. Keep cleaning it if it's crusting.
2. THIS IS PROBABLY IT. It's a keloid, or something like it. Keloids are rare on punctures/piercings, but it's possible. The bump is formed by moving the jewelry back an forth, which causes scar tissue to form rapidly and unhealthily. It can be stopped if it's caught quickly, which it sounds like you have. Keep cleaning it as normal, and after dilute a few drops of tea tree oil in about 4 ounces of water. Soak a q-tip in the mixture and clean the piercing with it. If you find in a week or two that the bump is not going down, use straight tea tree oil on it without water.

Ive got a weird lump next to my belly button piercing?

Leave it! Do not pop it. That will more than likely make it worst. Clean it with ONLY Dial soap. Then go to the store and find some sea salt, mix about 1/4 tea spoon with warm water in a spray bottle and spray it onto your belly after you clean your belly button with the Dial soap and after the salt has dissolved into the water. Don't use a wash cloth, use cotton balls or q-tips. They don't hold as much germs like towls do. Do that about twice a day. The problem should go a way. The discharge is usually fine if its a clear or whitish color. If it is yellowish or greenish, go to your piercer and they will give you further instruction. For the bump, try finding some pure vitamin e oil and rub it on the bump. It works for bumps and scars. Oh and make sure your hands are as clean as possible when touching your piercing :) if your problem doesn't seem to go away in the next week or so, go to a shop and they should help. It could be a possible infection.

Bump on top of belly button (pierced) ?

Though it could be an abcess, it could also be a keloid which is pretty much just an overgrowth of skin that builds up.
If this bump is pretty hard, it's probably a keloid and not an abcess, and popping it with a needle will make it worse.
I managed to get rid of the keloid on my tragus piercing by applying 2 things. At night I would rub on a hyrocortisone cream you can get at any drug store. Then in the morning I would rub in vitamin e oil, but like really massage it in, which you can also get anywhere.
It took a few weeks, but my keloid finally went away.
Good luck!!

I've had my belly piercing for 4 months now. I took it out last night and went to put it back in this morning and there's no hole there, it's just a little lump. What should I do?

There is a hole, it's just tiny from taking it out. Once you push it back through the “little lump” it'll stretch back out. It may be a little hard to do, but I assure you the hole is still there. Now if you take it out and leave it out for a long time (months) it can close. I have had mine out for years and can still put a ring back in if I want. Hope that helps.
