Best City To Find A Country Girl And A Tech Job

Is Dubai the best middle eastern country for a western girl to visit?

I've always been fascinated with the Arab world, and have been wanting to visit. A guy I know told me that the best country for a single western girl to visit would be Dubai. I don't know much about the country, but it sounds interesting. What is there to see and do? Is it ok for a girl to go there by herself? How expensive is it?

What are the best countries to work in for Indians?

You can think of Middle East (Kuwait, Dubai, Oman) if you want to save money and transfer it to India. The expenses could be few and saving potential very high. For experienced people, getting a job is quick and easy.If you are an IT professional or Research person, then USA. Even though getting a visa will be difficult, Indians have outperformed in USA and reached great heights. If you plan to emigrate, then Canada is a very good country. If you can also learn French, settling down in Canada becomes easy. You must be prepared to bear with the extreme cold. For engineering professionals, Australia offers great opportunities followed by New Zealand. Many go to these countries to study and settle down permanently.Today, Indians don’t care and are willing to work in any part of the Globe provided the opportunities are good. Best countries depend upon one’s credentials and demand abroad.A word of caution - Never pay money to brokers who promise employment abroad. There are reputed consultants who get paid by clients for sponsoring right candidates. These consultants do not ask you to pay money in advance. At the most, some reputed consultants may ask for fixed one time amount to be paid after you have joined the company abroad and drawn your salary. Deal carefully and don't get cheated.

Which country is the best for an Indian to settle down? Any pros and cons to discuss?

Before answering this, one needs to understand what're they looking for in life. A basic comfort, typical 9–5 job, social security, safety, health & medical for family then countries with socialist outlook works the best for them, like Norway, Sweden, Canada, Netherlands, Ireland, Finland etc. Whereas ambitious people with entrepreneurial goals, who're more into risk taking, aim bigger and better than even average citizens of the respective country, one has to look deep into Government policies(not socialist mindset), immigration laws etc.India - I call it home still, it's still the best place to live for any and all Indians. Plus if all of us move to another and just one country, just imagine?U.S - Second choice, I used to travel on regular basis, lived in Los Angeles, one time was flying back to LA from a busy work week, on a plane an old white guy sort of conservative looking next to me asks me, “Are you also heading home Son?”. Tell me one country where it's citizen or native will ask this to an Indian? You’ll find everything imaginable in this country, overall very accepting, gives you an opportunity to be an entrepreneur, be the leader in the companies like Microsoft, Google and many more, this is by far cannot be matched by any nation. Remember things aren't cheap here, especially health benefits are not free for public.Canada - Third Choice, very accepting, humble, helping and very friendly people, huge Indian community especially Punjabi’s, feels like you’re in Punjab if you’re in Toronto, health service and human development index is even better than U.S. Immigration is far easier than complex U.S. Only issue is you cannot make it as big as you can in US, even Canadians come to U.S for that.Japan - Fourth choice, a wonderful place to live for anyone, for Indians too. You’ll find many helping people, very secure, no racism, awesome food but very expensive and everything is small. The biggest problem is work culture, there’s a reason Japan is among the most unhappiest nation.Singapore - Fifth choice, safe, secure, good community, accepting, you can find all the luxury to anything Indian there but Chinese or Malay do not interfere or indulge in socializing with Indians much, usually I’ve noticed Indian’s socialize among themselves too, if that’s you then Singapore is nice.I’m not too sure about Europe yet, I’ve to explore and be there long enough in order to include that in the list here.

What is the best way to find a job in Dubai?

Do you want the truth? None of them. Unless of course your job profile is so unique that the employer cannot find or locate a person of your skill or calibre.Keep this much in mind - at the end of the day these Job Sites are in existence ONLY to make money. They do not care if you are the right candidate or if the client is happy - They are interested in making their money because they need to cover their expenses. And they exist to make money. So if you have the normal-run-of-the-mill job profile, then either you will never get called or if you do get called - they will employ you in droves - that is only if a company is starting from scratch (Hotel or Large Establishment). And over there - they will always go for the cheapest and best deals - which is why they normally employ people from Asia directly from agents. My suggestion to you is either check Gulf News or go through references. Thats it. And the ONLY way you will get a worthwhile job in the Middle East is through Contacts (or as they call VASTAA) in the Middle East. Please do not bank your hopes on Job Sites as 90% of all the jobs advertised are either Fake to collect Resumes for their Resume Bank or just to show the public that they have a massive demand for jobs. After all - they need to keep the ball rolling right?Loy Machedo

Which is the safest & best gulf country for Indians to work?

My ranking of Gulf countries,UAE (only seen Dubai and Abu-Dhabi): Huge Indian Expat community. Whatever state of India, you are from you will be able to connect. You will get enough people from your community. It is perfectly free country, you can live your life in your way nobody will judge (if you are gay or living together with your girl friend just don't say it in public and it will be fine). Your social status will depend on how much does you earn. Saving will be moderate.Oman : If you are Gujrati or Keralite then it is your place. Saving will be lesser than UAE. Plus point you can interact with locals too. Indians are in lot of good positions and respected as like locals.Bahrain: Same as Oman. Points lost due to lack of long term economic prospect.Qatar: Conservative, you will not be able to interact with locals. Economic prospect is good in long term. If you are not getting an opportunity elsewhere right now, come here. Basically trying to be UAE but far behind in infrastructure. Plus point US ally (having a US air force base), overall very stable in internal politics. Saving will be good.Kuwait: If you can't even get an opportunity in Qatar, you may go there. Saving will be good. Locals are too arrogant and conservative.Saudi Arabia: Think before going there. Free advice, don't go.

What are the best cities for living and working in Canada?

Since I've lived in Ottawa for 4 years now I feel compelled to tell you a little bit about it, then I'll get on with other notable cities in Canada.  Ottawa is well-known for being a Government town. As the capital of Canada there are obviously very many Government buildings around. If you're looking to work in Government this is probably the best place. It's very close to Gatineau (QC) as well which offers housing at lower prices.  Ottawa actually also has a pretty big StartUp community. Once you get involved - you'll quickly get to know everyone and find out how exciting (in my personal opinion) it is. Check out my answer on the best cities for Startups in Canada for a little bit more info: @Hailley Griffis's answer to What are the best startup/tech cities in Canada? ) Ottawa is beautiful with lots of history to see (endless museums and Parliament buildings!) On top of that there are always lots of festivals happening. Cities that there is a lot of 'buzz' around:  Montreal  I've visited Montreal a couple of times and I absolutely love it. It is noticably larger than Ottawa (which is why people will drive from Ottawa to Montreal for weekend trips - it only takes about 2 hours) which makes it a neat destination for interesting restaurants, a great nightlife, concerts as well as great shopping.  Montreal is one of the only Canadian cities that has ever reminded me of Europe, they have the copplestone streets and older buildings that give it a little bit more of the European feel.  What I've heard from people living in Montreal is that if you live downtown, it's amazing! If you live anywhere else, it's better to have a car to get around because the transit is a little slow. Vancouver I've had quite a few friends that attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Everyone that has been there praises Vancouver for it's green spaces and healthy lifestyle. Everyone is supposed to be very active and the community revolved around maintaining that high level of exercise and health.  On top of that, Vancouver is stunning and is home to some pretty cool Canadian companies. HootSuite is one of the tops ones. Other cities that I've heard good things aobut in no particular order:  Calgary (Lots of fun things to do in a growing city) Edmonton (It gets cold here but the residents love it!) Toronto (A very busy city - the largest in Canada) Quebec City (Another beautiful city) Waterloo (Famous for their StartUps)
