Best Intel Processor For $50-$150 Price Range

I need to know which kind of Graphics Card to get. In my price range?

Keep in mind that upgrading to a midrange graphics card will probably require upgrading your computer's power supply too. That's another $60-$70 right there, unless you already have a good 500W or higher power supply.

The GeForce GTX 660 is a great card for $200- able to play Battlefield 3 on ultra settings at 1920x1080 with over 50fps.

But since you need a new PSU too, you might need to spend a little less- maybe go with a GeForce GTX 650 Ti (which is more than enough for games like Total War and Skyrim on ultra, but not super-demanding games like BF3 and Far Cry 3)

Or split the difference with a GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost.

Even the GTX 650 Ti for $150 would be a massive upgrade- over 3X faster than Intel's HD Graphics 4000 (which is about equivalent to a Radeon HD 6450).

Notice the best card on that chart- the GeForce GTX 550 Ti? It's at the bottom of this chart:

Any of the suggested cards would be fine for GTA 5 on high settings, probably ultra.

Duo vs. Quad core processors?

The answers is... usually Duo!

The main reasons:

1) The overwhelming majority of games (including Crysis) aren't coded to take full advantage of multiple Cores, CPU clockspeed matters much more for high fps. A 3.0Ghz Core 2 Duo E8400 outperforms a 2.5Ghz Q8300 or 2.8Ghz Q9550 for gaming.

2) Your graphics card is about twice as important as your CPU for gaming performance. Most poor game performance comes from GPU bottlenecks, not CPU. So the graphics card is where you want to splurge. The difference between a $160 CPU and $200 CPU is minor, while the difference between a $80 and $120 video card is HUGE. Same story between a $120 and $160 video card, or $160 and $200... Your'e talking entire tier of performance.

3) Quad-Cores of equivalent clockspeed are more expensive. The E8400 is $50 less than a Q9550. The 3.16Ghz E8500 is $30 less. The extra $$ spent on a quad could instead go into a better graphics card or additional RAM, which have a bigger impact.

Some people argue that you can overclock a slower quad to the same clockspeed as a duo, but that's a red herring. If you want to overclock, Core 2 Duos also overclock more easily than Quads! They also consume less lower & run cooler.

Quad-cores rule the roost for applications coded to take full advantage of them- DVD decoding, AutoCad, 3D design apps like Maya and Blender, movie editing and heavy multitasking. But for gaming, Duos offer the best bang/buck, especially given the fact that GPU is the most important component. Better to have a slightly weaker processor and stronger graphics card.

A $100 CPU paired with a Radeon 4850 or GeForce GTS250 easily outperforms a $150 CPU with a Radeon 3870 or GeForce 9600GT.

A $150 CPU paired with a Radeon 4870 or GTX 260 smokes a $200 CPU paired with a Radeon 4850 or GTS 250.

Now if money is no object and you're talking a 3Ghz quad vs a 3Ghz duo, then grab the quad... But for anyone on a budget, the lower-cost higher-clocked duos result in a faster overall build.
