Best Laptop Brand For School And Basic Gaming

What is the best laptop for both gaming and school?

For college, I’m going to assume the following:You want it to be lightweight so you can bring it to lecturesYou want decent battery life so you don’t have to lug your power brick everywhereYou want great graphics (duh)You want it to last a long time (Preferably at least 4 years, just the length of your college education)It really boils down to your budget. Of course, the more you pay, the better you get in all of those areas.Since the other answers have addressed the lower budget areas, I shall not discuss too much on them. From my experience, the main thing that differs between a cheap and more expensive laptop is its lifetime. You can pay for a cheap $800 laptop, but it’s likely to start slowing down, getting damaged (from accidentally knocking against other things while you walk), or just dying on you very soon, or you can pay for a more expensive $1.6k laptop, made of better quality materials, and is meant to last much longer. If your budget allows, I’d recommend the Asus UX501VW, going for $1.5k, and definitely scores well in those 4 areas I’ve mentioned. There’s no need to spell out the technical details, but I can tell you this: It can play most games out right now at high if not the highest settings. Aside from being slightly below average in weight for a laptop of its size, it has great sound and a 4–5hr battery life. And it definitely has much better build quality than most other laptops of its specs out there. My current laptop is its predecessor and it has lasted 3 years and still running strong, so I’d say spend that extra buck and get a good quality laptop. Here’s an article that goes more into detail why spending more on quality saves you more in the long run: When It Makes Sense to Buy Quality Instead of Saving Money

Best laptop for school?

I m starting online college classes soon and I d like to get a better laptop before I do. I really don t know much about them. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to get or what to look in to. I would like to get something fairly cheap.

What are good laptops for gaming and school work?

now im in high school, planing to be in collage here soon. i want a laptop that will be good for gaming and school work.ive looked into alienware already because i know there good for gaming, BUT i do not want to spend a thousand dollars on a laptop. currently i just bought the new asus notebook ones and my computer isn't compatible with it. the type of game im going to use it for is world of war craft (WOW)

What is a good gaming laptop that I can also use for school work and in college?

You are asking for a laptop to be able to do everything.

Gaming computers have to be powerful, so they are heavy - and drain a battery in a couple of hours - its just the way it is.
Portability & reliability are a must for college.
So, unless you are ready to spend about $2500 you need to decide where you will make sacrifices.

A powerhouse that weighs 7 lbs. Or an ultrabook that gets 8 hours of battery and is reliable.

I only use ThinkPad T-series - they are the most reliable laptop there is. But they are business laptops - not meant to be used for gaming, or even watching movies - they dont have the ultra HD res like some other laptops (only max @ 1600x900). But they are built like a freakin tank.

For gaming, I have a beast of a desktop - I cant have everything all in 1 so I had to sacrifice because I didnt want to spend $3500 on a portable gaming laptop. (Even though the ThinkPad T-series is $1700)

What I can tell you is brands to avoid, and brands to focus on, and when to run like hell.

BAD:
HP
Toshiba (not what they used to be)
DeLL Inspirons

RUN LIKE HELL:
Acer
Compaq
Gateway
e-machine

FOCUS ON: gaming
ASUS $
Falcon Northwest Fragbook $$$
Digital Storm $$

FOCUS ON: reliability
DeLL Latitude series
ThinkPad T-series

Alienware is nothing but overpriced Dell - crap customer service, non-reliable with fancy colors.

If you want it to look cool - head over to colorware-pc.com and have them trick it out for you

I know you wanted specifics, but the actual model is something only you can choose since you didnt even mention a budget ....

If you want specifics - you need to be more specific in your question.

Which laptops are the best for playing Sims 3 and have the basic software for school?

Since it's only sims try a Lenovo, Dell, or Asus. They are affordable however you should look for specs not just a brand name in general. That aside the yoga series are good for basic gaming and work as well so long as you get one with a good amount of storage and ram. Whatever you do avoid HP.

What Laptop is Best for Online Flash Games?

I will be buying a laptop soon and I really need it to play online flash games (the main game is Smallworlds) what laptop is best for that purpose. My budget cap will be around 1000 dollars maybe a little more if it is worth it. It would also be good for it to be good at doing school work.

What's the best laptop brand to purchase (excluding Mac/Apple)?

In my experience, HP is the best brand. You of course need a security system on the laptop 24/7 and a warrenty is a good idea. I'm.....well.. I have walked into walls with my laptop, tripped over a cat, fell down the stairs, and accidentally stepped on it when it was close and covered by a blanket in the floor....... Warrenty is a great idea if your anything like me XD

If you upkeep it a laptop should last for years, if the physical condition and "health" (virus) cituation is okay and the hardrive is cleaned out. LIke uninstalling unneeded programs and such. Some of those weird programs piggyback onto your laptop when your downloading something you want. I delete all that stuff and then run a security scan to make sure I didn't miss anything.
