Best Laptop For Me Highschool Student

Which laptop is best for a high school student?

I’m studying at high school, and I have a Surface Pro 3. I haven’t owned any other laptops so I’ll just give you my opinion on mine. Keep in mind the Surface Pro 4 is out now, and I’m behind but not bothering to update as mine keep up just fine.Pros for a school setting:Light and thin - 1.76 pounds and 0.36 inches respectivelyGood battery life - up to 9 hours, mine lasts the school day with about 30% left (I normally have several word docs, emails, and plenty of chrome tabs and use it for 3–4 of the 7 hours I’m at school)Front and back camera - 5MP HD128 GB storage, 4GB RAMWindows 10 operating systemDis-connectable keyboard (if you’re ever doing something where you might need that)Touch screen and Surface pen - great for drawing and writing on it, I’m not an artist at all, but you could paint/draw if you’re into thatCons for a school setting:Touch screen (again) - people like to randomly touch it during the first 3 weeks of use. You get over it eventually. Don’t even bother to try and keep the screen cleanDis-connectable keyboard (again) - it’s awkward to work on your lap. Possible, but awkward. Don’t even think about using it while walking.Only one USB terminal - I don’t use mine that much, but it might concern youDoesn’t come with any Mac features (iMovie, Garage Band, Airdrop, etc.). Also you can’t connect it to your phone/icloud account which is probably better from a concentrating POVI’m pretty sure that’s it. You could also look at this YouTube clip or any others on the Surface channel if you’re tied up :)Good luck!

Should I bring a laptop to High School?

I start High School in September, and I was wondering what you all think about bring a laptop to high school. Keep in mind I am a geek who is on a computer all the time, so this shouldn't be any different :P I would use it for notes, calendering, web searching, and presentations. It is not very new, but can do all of those things perfectly. It's pretty light at 6 pounds, and has a 14" screen. I don't think it'd be a hassle to have with me, and it'd always be on my person. So what do you all think? Thanks! P.S. the laptop is an Apple PowerBook G3 that is my favorite laptop that I own. (if that matters)

Should I bring a laptop to high school?

After 6 weeks of high school, I’ve noticed that quite a few students at my school bring their own laptops to school, although my district provides all the students loaner Chromebooks for all 4 years of high school, and sometimes even for middle school. Most of these are Macbooks, usually Macbook airs, but sometimes Macbook pro.The main benefits behind bringing a personal laptop to school is that softwares installed on district Chromebooks don’t block websites you need to study (There have been multiple cases where videos I needed to watch for Biology or Computer Science were blocked by the software the school had installed onto the Chromebooks). In addition, people who bring laptops can use outside programs or download content directly onto their hard drive, because Chromebooks are fairly limited and cannot access many things offline due to low internal storag. In fact, our school’s Robotics team even encourages students to bring their personal computers (preferably not Chromebooks) because they are needed for programming. The problems with bringing a personal laptop to school are that it may get damaged, lost, or stolen, and you may get in trouble if you use it when you are not allowed to, which are responsibilities that come with any electronic device.Overall, you should bring your own computer to school because it doesn’t limit your usage of technology such as command prompt, Microsoft Office programs, or other apps. Plus, you can use the laptop for extracurricular or non-academic activities as well.

Do high school students in the US/EU bring laptops to school?

I believe my sister did but times were different as she just graduated from Northeastern University and is now getting a PhD in Genetics at UPENN.As for me however I am a freshman (a ninth grader) and my town has just started a new program in which my class are the guinea pigs. It is called one-to-world and the town provides us with chromebook computers which we can take home and bring to school every day. Yes, free of charge however there is a $40 insurance option that we must pay every year. Not to mention we have to use the same chromebooks for 4 years. Some kids were smart and purchased the same computer for about $180 and can keep the computer as they own it. FYI I live in the US. So, to answer your question yes some schools do and some do not it is a relatively new program.

Do high schoolers need laptops...?

This year was very hard for me, because I had to share a computer with the rest of my family. And next year is going to be worse, because instead of 2 advanced classes, I'm going to be taking 4. I always had research papers or essays to do, so I probably spent 3 or 4 hours a night typing, on a typical day. I'm trying to get my parents to get me one for my 16th birthday next week (Its not a $1000 one either, or super expensive) but they think its stupid. And I can't buy one myself, because all my money I make this summer is going to buying car insurance. They have enough money, since my dad is about to buy a $2000 boat, and my moms going on a trip across the country with her friends. In your opinion, do you think high schoolers taking college level and advanced classes need them?

So a school has 800 students...?

Ah! This is driving me mad!

The school has 800 students with 20 students on the gymnastic team and 10 students on the chess team (including 3 students who are on both teams). How many students in the school are not members of either the gymnastic team or the chess team?

...Help. And if you could give me an explanation how you got that answer, it would be nice...

What kind of laptop is best for a future chemical engineering student? MacBook or pc?

I would go with a PC. I have a MacBook pro, and I really like it...but it's only good for web browsing and creative functions. I'm interested in psychology, but it's a hassle always trying to find a computer with Windows. If you're interested in chemical engineering, programs are gonna run only on Windows. Your college grade depends on that program. Sure, it's easier to surf and have fun on a MacBook, but when it comes to business/hardcore stuff, go with the PC.

Windows 8 looks pretty cool. If you're looking for something semi different, go ahead and get the PC!

What are some good laptops for a chemical engineering student?
