Best Router For Streaming Media Via Xbox 360

Which is the best media server/player to stream content from your pc and watch Netflix in Latin America?

I'm working with marketing this product - you'd need to put one of the USB dongles back in your home country but it basically acts as a blazing fast connection to your home wifi router, letting you appear to be in your own home. Much faster than VPN. It's not VPN, it's AlwaysHome! Take your content worldwide

Does Having A Wireless Router Running Slow your Internet Connection?

First, the 100Mbps is your network speed (megabits, not megabytes) and not the Internet speed you'll experience. A router does nothing but divide up a connection so it can be used by multiple devices rather than just one.

But to answer your question, yes.. your connection will be slowed. How much? 99% of the time it's not even enough to notice it. When you share a connection you're dividing it among however many devices are connecting to the router, so it's basically splitting one connection and giving a portion of it to each connecting device.

But, you won't notice a significant drop in speed unless one of the networked devices is using a lot of traffic (i.e. downloading a movie, streaming a huge file, etc.).

You should be fine for what you're trying to do.

What is the best way to connect a computer to a TV in another room?

If you want to play movies / media off of the computer then the best way is to get a networked media player. The one I have and recommend is a popcorn hour (http://popcornhour.com). I like it because it is a NetworkMediaTank device, meaning it will stream media through HTTP. There are servers for Windows, Mac and Linux. Set up is *really* easy and the server is auto-detected. The upside of HTTP is that it is very lightweight and has high throughput. To get media from one room to the other, if you can't run ethernet then I recommend PowerLine devices instead of WiFi. Wifi has really bad drop outs, even with wifi/N (maybe its my crappy Apple Airport Extreme). With PowerLine gear, you can get 100Mbp/s pretty easy and it is smooth. The Netgear ones are rated very well. http://www.netgear.com/products/...If you want to *use* your computer on your TV that is in another room I don't have any ideas. Maybe an Ethernet KVM is what you're looking for.

Can Roku act as a media center extender?

Sure it will. And it gets way more than "Roku Content" since Roku only makes a box and isn't the aggregator of content. It's nothing more than a box that receives other people's content.

An example of the extent of that content is http://streamfree.tv/apps/roku-and-roku2...

Among these "channels" are a number of media servers. Some free, some not. I use Gabby because it's free and it streams from my computers to my Roku box flawlessly.

Would a 300 Mbps router be fast enough for TV and movie streaming and gaming?

Yes, that would be more than enough capacity. A 1080p HD movie needs approximately 5 mbps, a 4K movie 20–25 mbps. It’s likely your Internet connection will be the limiting factor rather than the router.Always connect games consoles and media streaming devices to the router with an ethernet cable where possible. A wireless connection will not be as good.A simple rule: if you plug it in to get power, plug it in the get a network connection.

Best setup for my wireless system (asus rt56u and ea n66 adapter)?

I have a ps3 about 13 meters away and a laptop 4 m away, and the router is connected to a cable modem in another room. (between the ps3 and the router i have 2 rooms)
I have currently set up the rt56u with 2 separate ssid's for both bands (2.4ghz and 5ghz) and decided to setup the ea n66 [connected to ps3] at the 5ghz in wireless adapter mode (although this is far away it does get a signal and I know it wont be as strong as the 2.4ghz but there will be next to no interference correct?)
This setup is mainly used for online gaming [ps3] and HD media streaming [need 2.4mb/s to 90 odd mb/s for full hd?] from laptop to router to ea n66 to the ps3 through the 5ghz channel.
What are my best options with the two asus components and settings? [example; use the 2,4ghz band rather than 5ghz for less throughput but better signal quality? change both bands to 40Mhz channel width? use repeater mode on ea n66 rather than adapter [reduce max throughput but increase quality overall for everyone?]? Should I run 2.4 and 5ghz at the same ssid for the best affect? anyone have a similar setup or know which firmwares are best[Quality of Service on 3.0.0.4.260 slows my internet down a fair bit even when i am the only user]?
thank you very much in advanced
