Better Together How To Eat Veggies Like A

How can I make veggie hot dogs taste better?

I just became vegetarian and decided to try these veggie hot dogs (the brand is Veggie Patch, they're called Jalapeno Cheddar sausages but they resemble and look like hot dogs xD) that taste funky. It isn't unbearable, but it would help if there's something I could do with it. I payed about $3.50 for them and I don't want to waste them.

Is it better to blend a smoothie than eat whole fruits and vegetables?

No, blending fruits and vegetables is not better than eating the whole food. The process of blending pre-digests the fruits and veggies , which means your body doesn’t have to work as hard to break them down. What does this mean to you? Most likely a spike in blood sugar because the fiber found in the whole food has been broken down into liquid. Fiber is very important in slowing down the digestion of food and regulating blood sugar. But only when your body has to work at breaking it down.So most likely you’ll have a blood sugar spike which is not only unhealthy, but you could get hyper and jittery. And then comes the crash shortly after. This is when you suddenly feel tired and probably hungry. Hungry leads to snacking - this is your body’s attempt at keeping you away.If you have to snack more, you’re probably defeating the purpose of drinking the smoothie in the first place. Also, pre-digested blender food is not as good as whole food because your body doesn’t have a chance to extract the maximum amount of nutrients from the fruits and vegetables. Since the food passes through you faster, there’s less time for your body to absorb the nutrients.Don’t get me wrong - I love smoothies. Drinking them helped me lose weight and keep it off. I always recommend adding a high-quality protein powder and fiber supplement to smoothies. If you do that, you have a better shot at slowing down the digestion of your smoothie and getting the more nutritional benefit out of it.

Is it true that fruits and raw vegetables are better eaten before the evening, as they are more difficult to digest than cooked food?

They are best eaten on an empty stomach. For maximum benefit, make a smoothie and drink it before eating. It will bypass the stomach and be absorbed in the small intestine. Use organic produce to avoid ingesting unhealthy chemicals.

Do not eat Fruits and Vegetables together?

As an advocate for healthy living, I would encourage the mixture of fruits and vegetables in our daily meals to enable good health. Although fruits are generally eaten raw, it is advisable to properly wash with clean water to prevent consuming germs harmful to the body. Cooked vegetables can loose its nutrients if overcooked. Blending fruits and vegetables vs eating them?

Chewing does not burn enough calories that you'd notice a difference. If you want to blend, blend. Be aware that some of the nutrition is in the peels so when you remove them for blending (apples, etc), you'll be losing some of the fiber and nutrients...so in that way eating them whole is better.

If you want to eat healthy and lose weight, then make sure you are eating a balance of foods from the various food groups, not just one type. Lean proteins, fresh produce, whole grains, fiber-rich foods. Balance is important too. When you fix your plate, divide it (in your head) in half, then divide one of the halves in half again. The largest portion should be vegetables and/or salad. One of the smaller portions should be a lean protein (sirloin, chicken breast, fish), and the other should be a carb. Whenever possible, you want your carbs to be complex, and with a good dose of fiber.

A good way to make sure you're not walking around hungry (which makes you more likely to impulse-eat, usually empty calories), is to eat several (5-7) small meals per day. And chew sugarless gum. It curbs your appetite.

Walking is better for your body than running, and for toning, try Callanetics.

Good luck!
