Biotechnology In Uni With No A Level Biology

Which is better: microbiology or biotechnology? Which has better prospects? What should one pursue after a BSc in biotechnology/microbiology? Which route will pay better? If I choose biotechnology, is an MBA or MSc more advisable for a higher pay?

Go for Microbiology it will give you more options in future when you start searching jobs. Biotechnology will narrow down your future path and it will be difficult to get good job after post graduation. While microbiology gives you wider prospects in govt jobs specially.if You will go through recent BIS Recruitment advertisement, it has vacancies for microbio field but not for biotech. There are many jobs where biotechnology graduates can’t apply but microbiologist can.And where Biotechnology can apply microbiologist also have options in the same. For better future prospects go for microbiology and try to go till doctoral. You will remember me after that with smile.

Does one need biology in classes 11 and 12 to take biotechnology in college?

It depends on the college in which you want to go for your graduation (B.tech or B.Sc.) In some colleges, PCB+65% is compulsory while in some other PCB/M is acceptable with 65%. In my college second one is applicable (One of my seniors had PCM in her 11 & 12 class). It is good to take both maths and biology in 11-12 because in many competitive exams maths is necessary ( For M.Sc. entrance). At present, I am facing this problem (I had PCB in 11-12).So, if you have maths but not biology then also you are eligible for biotech courses in some colleges, If you want to do B.tech Biotech then I think no problem in having maths (not biology) but if want to go for B.Sc. then in some colleges it is necessary to have biology in 12 but at the same time it is not compulsory in all colleges. what is compulsory is you should be from Science background (either PCM or PCB).I think this information will help you. Fell free to ask any other doubts.Thanks.

Which of the following is NOT a use for biotechnology?

2) producing effective and safe vaccines
3)identifying human fetuses with particular genetic diseases
4)altering food plants to increase yields
5)altering the intelligence levels of newborn infants

Differences between Medical Laboratory Technology from science Laboratory Technology?

Can't say. Science lab technology is not a recognized "person" like a medical lab technologist it but it could be the same, just some one using their own terminology (or a uni using a different terminology). You will have to explore this with whomever is calling it that, and what it entails and what it results in.
