Blood In Urine And Antibiotic Treatment For

Can we take Urine culture while on antibiotics?

Ideally, any culture specimen (including urine) should be collected before first dose of antibiotics, coz chances of it being negative increases after initiation of antibiotics ( as such , a culture has sensitivity of only 30-40% under ideal conditions). So,yes, you can still collect urine culture sample, while on antibiotics, but chances of it being positive reduce dramatically. Moreover, your form should mention that culture has been collected while patient is on antibiotics, because the cut off for significant colony count on culture is taken lower (1000/ hpf),compared to 100000/hpf when not on antibiotics. So,result might be reported false negative if antibiotic details are missing while requesting a urine culture.

Antibiotics for a urinary tract infection?

A UTI can be caused by several things, including sex.
Some of the biggest causes are lack of water intake, holding urine in your bladder for extended periods of time, sexual intercourse, masturbation, lack of hygiene, fancy soaps, too much hygiene and many more. Even men and children can get UTI's.
Sex is only one of the reasons for an UTI, so you could tell your parents.
I had the exact same problem as you and your mother sounds just like mine as well. When I got a UTI from sexual intercourse, I told her I hadn't been drinking enough water and it had been rather hot that week. She never thought anything more about it and took me to the doctors straight away.

You can get medication for a UTI over-the-counter at your local pharmacists, which clear up the infection in no time and they're usually cheap too. I'd even say these are better than antibiotics and clear up the infection in 2 days and get rid of the pain in minutes, while antibiotics take 7 days to do the same job and they don't do anything for the pain or discomfort a UTI causes.
If you still want antibiotics, bear in mind that it'll stop your birth-control pill from working too.

You can go to your doctors and tell them about your UTI. You can go without your parents too.
They'll most likely prescribe you with some antibiotic called Trimethoprim, which are specifically designed for bladder infections. It would be cheaper or even free if you got them at the doctors. It cost me £5 ($7) to get them.
You could try planned parenthood too, if you wanted but I'm not entirely sure if they even prescribe antibiotics. I could be wrong though.

Why is a urinary tract infection treated with antibiotics instead of letting it clear up on its own?

Interesting theory. But not a case that should be tested based on your overall health. The overall goal is to always get an antibiotic to cure and get rid of UTI. The illness most likely will actually never go away, even with the use of probiotics or even UTI treatment that are over the counter. The end result will all lead to a antibiotic eventually. If you ever feel like it actually went away, most likely it was always still there and it would “flair up” every now and then. This is considered as a chronic UTI.Now, there are methods you can take so that the cost and your overall health aren’t conflicting. There are two main reasons why people don’t take antibiotics, either they are a health cautious or they can’t afford it. for the health cautious, I really don’t know what to tell you. This is one of those things where you gotta let it go. Unless you constantly want to deal with reoccurring UTIs, you really don’t have a curing solution. Prevention solution there are, but curing solution, you need an antibiotic. For the people that can’t afford it or have poor emergency room coverage, you gotta be proactive. Look for the UTI symptoms. Know them well. When you feel a UTI coming, go to the store and buy Cystex Urinary Pain Relief Tablets - Cystex. These will keep your body healthy and get rid of any pain or burning feeling you might have. After that, schedule an appointment with your general doctor. You will only have to pay your co pay and you dodge the bullet on a very expensive hospital bill. After you have taken the antibiotic. Check out Cystex Urinary Health Maintenance - Cystex. This is a preventive liquid that you take daily that will guarantee you are UTI free as long as you take it. Cystitis is a real problem. Don’t ignore it. Good luck and I wish you great health.

Blood in Urine?

I get bladder infections OFTEN, way too often for me. Every time i go in, My doctor doesnt exactly say i have a bladder infection. He just says i have traces of blood in my urine so they put me on antibiotics and treat it as a bladder/ UTI Infection... I was just wondering that since i have traces of blood in my urine, what exactly does that mean. My dr. says its nothing to worry about unless im 60 years old, then it could be a big problem but because im a young female, antibiotics will knock the infection out. But why do i always have traces of blood in my urine??? Thats really scary sounding to me!

There's blood in my urine.?

About a week ago after my period ended I noticed when I passed my urine there was blood in it. At first I noticed a smell and my urine was dark, I got antibiotics for it about 2 months ago now this. The good thing is that I'm not in an pain or no burning sensation at all when I pass my urine. What could this be? I had some lower backs but nothing severe my doc prescribed barcipro 500 for me which am on now. Sometimes my urine comes clear and then the next day it's blood again? Will I be ok after the meds? I'm a bit worried same way. Please respond ASAP please.

1 year old male neutered cat with blood in urine?

I agree with Spam. Please make sure that your cat has been tested for Struvite crystals. My cat has it and he almost died before we realized what was going on with him. The symptoms can be very similar and could be mistaken for a cystitis. Male cats are more likely to have crystals than a infection. If he does have crystals he will have to be on a special diet for the rest of his life to keep him free of problems. As long as the cat continues to urinate and the urine is clearing up I think your cat is on the road to recovery. I would take him back for a follow up at the vets to see if he needs anymore antibiotics. I do not think anyone has kicked him it just sounds more internal. If you have ever had a UTI then you can understand just how miserable the cat is. I have and I do. Hope kitty is feeling better in a few days. Keep on top of it and he will be OK. Good luck

18y/o female, blood & blood clots in urine?

I'm really scared. Last night, I went to the bathroom and my pee smelled SO horrible, but I passed it off as being something I either drank or ate. Now that I think back, it could have been a sign. Things were fine today up until about 3:00pm, after school. I got extreme cramps that wouldn't go away.. i thought I may be starting my period, but when I checked, nothing. I went pee a little while after.. and it was pink. Since then, I've been going pee SO often, in small amounts. It's pink, and there's blood clots... And after I finish urinating I get a sharp pain, but it quickly goes away. I'm so scared.. What could this be??

A few nights ago I masturbated via shower head. Could I have gotten it in the wrong hole..? I know that sounds gross, but I'm being serious. Should I wait a few days and then ask my sisters to take me to the hospital if the problem persists..? :/
