Bone Sticking Out Of Gums

If I have a sharp bone sticking out of my gum?

It is a pointy bone just at the gum line but not really protruding. I can feel the bone at the surface of my gum (lower molar) right at the surface and it does not protrude really. Can I live with this or do I need it cut by a dental surgeon? It is irritating but not real painful.

Pointy bone like thing sticking out of my gums?

A couple of months ago, I had my two upper wisdom teeth removed. They were not broken up and removed, just rocked back and forth. I kept the teeth and they were both whole and had a single root. One has bits of calcium attached to the bottom of it that look like they kept the tooth attached to my jaw. The other does not. Now that my gums are healed up, one side has a pointy piece that's starting to pierce the side of my gums, but the other does not. The pointy piece seems firmly attached to my jaw and will not move. Any ideas?

Piece of bone sticking out of gums. Relieve pain?

I had my wisdom teeth removed and I was warned that there was a chance a small piece of bone could work it's way to the surface of my gums. Well it happened and it's so painful. It's more painful than the pain of my wisdom teeth. It is poking me in the check and it's just terrible. My surgeon told me during my follow up to give it a week and see if the gums grow over it. If not he will take care of it. Each day the pain is getting worse and now I can't move my mouth without wanting to cry. I'm just looking for some relief from the pain. I tried Oragel and just over the counter pain relief

Why is a piece of bone sticking out of my gums after tooth extraction?

Because you had a curved root on your tooth. Dont get too upset. the bone fragment SHOULD work its way out on its own, as you eat. If it doesnt then your dentist gets another payday. HURRAH!!!

Do bones keep growing out of your gums after you have all your teeth removed? I can't use dentures 5 months later due to bone shards coming out of my gums.

No, bone does not continue to grow after the teeth are removed. Just the opposite, bone begins to shrink and continue to shrink.Bone shards left after surgery will erupt very quickly and can be removed easily. The body can also remodel the bone after surgery and may eliminate unwanted pieces that come to the surface. This should not be the case five months after surgery. Most likely the edges of the bone were not sufficiently smoothed after surgery. This leaves sharp edges under the gum tissue that were the edges of the tooth socket. If there were no pressure on the area would be no problem. But with a denture over these sharp edges, the denture tresses against the gum and the gum presses against the sharp bone causing pain. Sometimes the bone can actually cut through the gums and comes to the surface. These need to be removed by the dentist. If this is the situation, the all the sharp edges of the bone should be surgically rounded and the denture relined. It could take a very long time for the body to complete the process on its own.

Sharp object (possibly tooth/bone shard) sticking out of my gums?

About a month ago I went to the Dentist and had 2 impacted wisdom teeth surgically removed. I believed I was completely healed until about 2 days ago when I noticed the inside of my cheek was constantly hurting. Like something was irritating it. I attempted checking it out in the mirror, but couldn't see anything. Mostly because the location is inside the top right side of my cheek. So, I decided to feel around with my finger and came across this VERY sharp thing sticking out of my gums. It's located just a little bit in front of where one wisdom tooth was removed. However it's NOT located in the actual site of the removal. Is this normal?? I've googled it quite a bit and I've come across bone and tooth fragments and noticed they're mostly related to Oral Surgery. Has anyone experienced this? What can I do? It's very painful and it's really irritating. Any way to sooth it?

Thanks for any responses!!

What do I do if my bracket is sticking out on my gum and causing blisters?

Are you talking about braces? If so, then make an appointment with your orthodontist to get it checked, your braces shouldn't damage the inside of your mouth. If the brackets are hurting your cheeks on the inside because the metal rubs against them, then you can try putting wax blobs on the metal plates (they should have given you these or ask for them next time you're there).

Bone sticking out after tooth extraction and it was grinded down??

DEAR SHAR4LIFE,
WHEN A TOOTH IS EXTRACTED THERE MAY BE EXPOSED BONE. IF THIS IS PART OF THE JAW, THERE MAY BE LOCAL SURGERY THAT CAN BE DONE TO REMOVE THE EXPOSED BONE AND PUT A STITCH OVER IT.
IS IT NORMAL?
NO, BUT DOES IT HAPPEN NOW AND THEN, RARELY
SINCE I DID NOT SEE THE DENTIST ACTUALLY DO THIS, I CANNOT COMMENT AS TO WHETHER IT WAS OKAY OR NOT.
WHEN TEETH ARE EXTRACTED ATRAUMATICALLY THIS NEVER HAPPENS.

Something sticking out of gum months after extraction not bone shard.?

Ok so about 11 months ago I had teeth extracted I've had several bone shards work their way up that came right out no real pain or trouble getting them worked out. But recently I got new lower plate and then a small hole with something sharp that looks like almost a piece of tooth sticking out barely the hole is about 1/8 of a inch maybe with something sticking out it's not on the top of gum more on the inner side, I went back to dentist last week they didn't really answer me and made a few adjustments to plate, I'm going back again in morning it's still sore and definately something sticking out back there just not sure if it's bone, tooth shard or what it could be I'm fairly sure it's not just a bone shard that's came lose as I've had those in the past and easily gotten them out plus most of those were on the top and easy to just pull out at home. Not sure what else it could be it's not as sore as it was last week but still very uncomfortable and pretty sure even if not paintful it's not safe to have something sticking out of my gums.
