Bottom Of Foot Blisters

How should i pop a blister on the bottom of my foot?

it is recommended not to ever pop a blister b/c the fluid inside of it is sterile to the body and by popping it, you risk getting an infection.

but if the blister is intefering with your walking then popping it might be necessary but only using these following steps

-boil a needle or safety pin in water for at least 10 minutes to sterilize it. once it's done-place it on a clean towel

-wash your foot well with warm water and antibacterial soap

-pop the blister using the sterile needle and allow the fluid to drain in a clean towel

-once drained, apply a thin layer of neosporin and cover with a bandaid to prevent infection. change the bandaid at least twice a day

hope this helps

What is the best way to treat a blister on the bottom of my foot?

Don't pop or drain it, this will expose you to infection.

Purchase some mole skin. Make a square large enough to cover your blister and a little more. Now, cut a hole in the center (so it looks like a donut), and make sure the hole is large enough for your blister to fit through. This will protect the sides of the blister so it does not get larger, and will add some support so the blister won't pop under the pressure of your weight.

If you drain the blister tonight and walk around on it tomorrow, that loose skin cause by the blister formation will be moving all around and will either create another blister or will rub off entirely (exposing you even more to infection).

Large blister on the bottom of my foot?

I recently walked about three miles in casual sandals (i know, not the best decision i've ever made). Needless to say, i got a pretty good blister on the bottombottom of my right heel. this blister is about two inches long and an inch wide, so it's a pretty good size. It doesn't hurt, but i have to put all my weight on the ball of my foot because it feels like i'm stepping on a tiny balloon every time i walk on my heel, and i don't want to pop it. But i've had a few people suggest that i DO pop it. What should i do? Let it heal on its own and walk like an idiot for a few more days, or pop it and risk getting it infected and being in even more pain?

Big bubble blister on bottom of foot HELP!?

FIrst, soak your foot in hot/warm Epsom Salts water for about 1/2 hour.

Clean the blister with rubbing alcohol or antibacterial soap
Sterilize a straight or safety pin with alcohol
Using the pin, puncture a small hole in the base of the blister, as close to the foot as possible. If you puncture it anywhere else, it will cause the blister skin to peel back, leaving an open sore..
Using GENTLE, GENTLE pressure, drain the blister.
Apply an antibiotic ointment to the area like Bacitracin and Polymyxin B – triple antibiotic ointment. Avoid products containing neomycin as this is more likely to cause an allergic reaction.
Cover the area with an absorbent, non-stick bandage and change it daily. You may need to change it more often if it becomes wet, dirty, or loose.

What should I do about foot blisters from running?

Scientists spent two years studying runners to discover a single strip of surgical tape is all you need![1]Researchers studied 128 runners participating in an 155-mile ultramarathon.Paper tape was applied to just one of each of the runners' feet and the untaped areas of the same foot served as a controlFor 98 of the runners, no blisters formed where the tape had been applied!Footnotes[1] Never get blisters again! Strip of surgical tape solves the issue

I have a huge burn blister on the bottom of my foot and it hurts SO bad i cant walk, is it okay to pop it?

yes. but do it the right way...

first let it wait a few hours on a resting position.

then take a needle with thread.

lance it so the thread is hanging out through both sides.

leave the thread.

pull it out in a day or two.

make sure needle and thread are sanitized by alcohol, or mouthwash if you have nothing else.

by the way, its preferable you DON'T lance it, but if you HAVE to, this is a good way.

Using moleskin and building a strong cushion AROUND the blister is preferable.

When should I pop a blister on my foot?

Never. It makes for a more painful and infection-prone wound, that's all. There's absolutely no benefit to doing it.Keep the blister intact with a bandage over or something to protect it, and it will eventually resolve on its own. If this is from a "hot spot" that's prone to worsening from friction due to your footwear or something, you can cover it with a square of adhesive "moleskin" bandage (available at the drugstore in the footwear section), and then you will need to leave that on until the blister has healed (probably until the adhesive breaks down and the bandage falls off), because removing it before then will definitely unroof the blister, which is what you should be trying to avoid.UPDATE: I like User-13396308986258867107's answer to When should I pop a blister on my foot?

Big Blisters on bottom of both feet, from walking on hot pavement?! HELP!?

The blisters are signs of burns, either caused by thermal injury from the pavement or friction. The treatment is the same.

NEVER open an intact blister. The intact skin is a barrier to infection. Pad the blisters with moleskin until they are no longer tender. After that, leave them alone. The skin is squamous tissue, it has layers that progress to the surface as superficial layers wear away. As the blister heals, the layer of skin beneath it will change and be ready to take it's place as the dead skin of the blister peels away during normal wear and tear.

If the blister pops by itself, clean it carefully with mild soap and water or antiseptic. Dress the blister with a dry dressing for a few days until the blister is no longer tender. Change the dressing daily or as soon as possible after it becomes wet. Telfa pads and some athletic tape should work fine.

In either case, limit weight bearing on the feet as much as possible and keep the feet as dry as possible. Here's the thing that will cause you pause. Feet perspire, feet in shoes perspire a lot and the moisture can't evaporate. That's why shoes stink. (The stink of stinky feet actually comes from the stinky shoe)

For the next few days, wear well ventilated footwear when shoes are needed, otherwise, keep your feet bare and elevated even with your heart as much as possible.

Since you've already popped the blister, follow the instructions for the popped blister above. Polysporin is pretty good stuff but if you keep the feet dry with a dry dressing over the blister, you should heal fine.

If you find the blisters becoming more tender, the pain persists more than 3-4 days, or you note redness or swelling, see a physician immediately. If you're on vacation you can stop at an Urgent Care clinic and be seen right away so you don't waste your precious time reading three year old issues of People Magazine. If there isn't an urgent care clinic, look in the yellow pages for a Podiatrist. They'll try to get you in and out as quickly as possible.

As a last resort, you can go to an Emergency Room but ER visits are much more expensive and will probably take much longer than the first two options.

Enjoy your vacation.

How can I remove a black blister from my foot?

If it is actually a blister with dried blood in it, it will probably resolve without your intervention in a month or so. There are some black spots that are not blisters. There are some ‘blisters’ that indicate a serious foot problem. See a foot health professional for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
