Braces Must I Really Say More

Is Invisalign really better than braces?

I just recently invested in orthodontic treatment to correct a bite issue. I had the choice to make between Invisalign and traditional braces. What both of these appliances have in common is the ability to straighten teeth and correct occlusion issues. However, they are both very different appliances. Most orthodontists will recommend removal of the wisdom teeth before beginning treatment. Being an adult, I wanted a discreet solution to my problem and so I was leaning towards Invisalign. I visited one orthodontist who said Invisalign would be a good option for me. During a second consultation with a different orthodontist, I was recommended traditional braces.During my research, I formed a list of pros and cons for each appliance based on what the orthodontists told me and what I learned online:Invisalign - ProsDiscreetCan be taken outMore comfortableShorter treatment timeInvisalign - ConsMust be worn for 20–22 hours a day to be effectiveCannot eat or drink anything except water while wearingTypically more expensive that bracesCorrection course cannot be altered mid-treatmentNot as good at correcting subtle issuesCannot correct extreme issuesTraditional Braces - ProsLess expensiveDo not need to be removed to eat and drinkNew ceramic brackets are clear or tooth colored and are quite discreetCorrection can be adjusted mid-treatmentTraditional Braces - ConsLess comfortableTreatment time is almost always longerIn the end, I decided to go with traditional braces. The problem I’m having is more of a functional issue than a cosmetic issue, so traditional braces seemed like a better option because they are better at corrected subtle issues and can be altered mid-treatment. Plus it was less expensive, and I got clear ceramic braces. They are absolutely beautiful compared to stainless steel braces.Note that this picture is not me. I wish I were that handsome!

My teeth really hurts, but my parents wont pay for my braces?

You could also do a payment plan. I'm paying $200 a month for my braces for the next 2 years. Ask your dentist about that and then see if your parents are more likely to do that. But if not you might have to pay it yourself but it won't be $8000 at once.

Are retainers after braces really necessary?

They say your teeth will go back to how they used to be if you don't wear retainers. So that means you have to wear retainers forever??? What if orthodontics just say that so you'd buy retainers from them...more profit for them...?

Orthodontics: Do braces really work?

Braces in general do work! For your specific case it would be difficult to say with certainty because we need additional information that your dentist would gain by using cefalometric analysis and other parameters. The difference between the upper and lower jaw could be due to:Your bone structureThe position of your teethA mixture of bothAs a future dentist I'll tell you what alternatives there are. If you're 23 you're past your growth phase which means orthopedics are out of the question. Therefore the only way to alter bone structure would be with orthognathic surgery (in a nutshell, jaw surgery). This is for people who have very large differences between either jaw and when the problem is purely due to bone structure.Braces ONLY affect teeth, so if the problem stems purely from the positioning of your teeth then braces will probably be helpfull. Your dentist will need to evaluate how to go about it, if it is possible, and if other pre-treatments are required (such as extractions). If your problem is a mixture of both bone structure and tooth positioning (which is often the case) your dentist might decide to compensate for the structural problem using braces. This serves to move the teeth to a better position and also camouflages the difference in bone structure (I say camouflage because your bone structures will remain the same but your appearance will change). All of these alternatives work and usually provide excellent esthetic results. All in all it is your dentist who should recommend which path you should take for he will have much more information in his hands and will be able to provide a better diagnosis and treatment plan.I hope this helps! If you have any doubts contact me, I'll be more than willing to help you as much as I can!

How long should you wear braces?

Well, generally it takes about one or two years to complete a orthodontic procedure, depending on your dental condition and age. With great potential for growth, teenagers usually need a shorter period to complete the treatment than adults. And if your dental deformity is quite complicated, of course it will require a longer period. So what you need to do is consult with your orthodontist and he/she will offer you some useful advices in line with your personal condition. Wish you a set of straight and beautiful teeth.

How much do braces hurt on the second day?

Mine hurt for like 4days (give or take) sooo bad I wanted to yank them out I had to get 4 teeth pulled like a week before though. It really depends on how bad or well you can tolerate pain. But no doubt that they feel like theyre pulling in which they are because your teeth are getting used to them, your whole mouth is. Ive snagged my tongue on them a few times. Stay away from hard foods for a couple days after and you'll feel it, just eat soft things. And with the soccer just keep your mind off of the braces and play your best. Good Luck!

"Sexy" . . Said with braces on?

i dig chicks with braces

Can I eat popcorn with braces?

you can, just don't chew the kernels and brush when you get home.

Is it more correct to say 'she's wearing brackets' or 'she's wearing braces'?

Apparently, there is something called a bracket in connection with dental braces. Brackets are the restraining elements on fixed braces. They’re glued on to the teeth enamel using a special gluing technique. So technically, either of these would be correct, although idiomatically, one “wears” braces but doesn’t really “wear” the brackets holding them in place.

Do spacers hurt more then the actual braces?

I have spacer and They realy hurt, but now I don't even notice.
I'm getting braces Wednesday, and I'm wondering if braces hurt more.
Or if it's just a different type of pain.
