Can A 17 Year Old Book A Flight And Fly Within The Country Without Parental Permission

Can a sixteen year old travel without a parental consent? (internationally)

I know that my wife, with parental consent, traveled to Europe at the age of 16 with a friend who also was 16.Therefore, the various government agents who inspected and stamped their passports as they entered the countries did Not ask for a letter signed by their parents permitting them to travel. However, if they had just grabbed their passport from the family safe, taken a bunch of family money, bought tickets and headed to Europe, without the parents knowledge nor permission, there would have been a missing persons report (they were Minors) and eventually they would be tracked down by the police in some country and returned to the USA. e.g. by using their passports, which is required to enter various countries, they created an obvious “set of tracks” that easily can be followed. So, what is your scenario?

Can a 15 year old stay in a hotel room alone if their parents booked it?

Yes they can.And it can be a nightmare. We were forced to book two rooms per family in England because the rooms were too small to accommodate a family of four. We were traveling with another family, also a family of four. So we had four rooms between us. They had two sons and we had one. So we sent all the boys off to sleep in the middle room between the two parents rooms. The two oldest boys were about 12 at the time.In the middle of the night my son apparently became disoriented, it was the first night in the hotel after a long flight. We believe he was sleep walking. He left the room, wandered around, then woke up and realized he was in the hotel hallway. He knocked on a door, sure that it was ours but it wasn’t.He’d awakened a man who shouted— Are you happy now?!! Thinking my son was playing games. A hotel employee took him to the front desk, verified the room number and brought him back to us. At that point he was fully awake and embarrassed that he was roaming around in public in his pajamas.Needless to say it scared the CRAP out of us and we were thankful that he didn’t walk outside or get snatched, or hurt.My husband was so shook up he often blocks the hotel door with furniture to this day.So yes, you can. You may even HAVE to let them sleep in there. I hope your son’s stay is less eventful than our experience!

Can I fly on an airplane by myself without my parents knowing?

I'm 15, and I really want to go to SPBGMA in February. It's a major bluegrass music convention held at the Sheraton Hotel near the Nashville airport. It starts on a Thursday, and runs until Sunday night. They have shuttle vans from the airport to the hotel, so I won't need any other transportation; everything is right there at the hotel.

If I was able to raise all the money I need (or combine it with Christmas money), would my parents get mad at me if I flew to Nashville by myself on that Thursday instead of going to school, stayed at the hotel for the entire event, then flew back home to Cincinnati Sunday night?

Bluegrass is a new passion for me. I am really addicted to it, and I want to learn to play the fiddle. It's the only kind of music I ever listen to anymore, and it means everything to me!

Does a 17 year-old American need parental consent to travel to Hong Kong?

Boy, that’s a GREAT question, with a specific case to back it up!To be honest, I’m not sure! Here are the hurdles I see… and how you might answer them for yourself (if no one on Quora has a definitive answer, that is).You need to get there.. so, check with the airline(s) you plan on using and see what their age for an unaccompanied minor is to book a flight FOR THEMSELVES. I suspect that this may be your stopping point; booking the flight as a minor (I am assuming you are in the U.S. since you don’t mention it) for an international flight.Your second hurdle is a Hong Kong Visa…. I don’t know what type of Visa is required for your research fellowship, but you will almost certainly need one. You can shop for a different airline to get there, but without that Visa you’re not getting out of the airport once you get there!Your third hurdle is finding a place to live in Hong Kong… I don’t know if the fellowship program takes care of this or not… if not, you’ll need to.Those, in my mind, are the biggest problems. Solve those, and you may be able to do it.Your BETTER option is to see if someone from the research fellowship program can speak with your parents, and tell them about the program, and how you’ll be safe, etc. It’s a terrific sounding opportunity, and though I hope you recognize that your parents are TRYING to look out for your best interests, I hope you are able to convince them to back you up…

Can a 17 year old check into a hotel without an adult?

That's hard to say really. A lot of the larger chain hotels do not allow anyone under the age of 18 to rent a room. Hell I've been to places that wouldn't rent to anyone under the age of 21 for fear of underaged drinking. I've had one hotel look at me and my ID and hem and haw at the fact that I was under the age of 25.

That one let me in when I pulled my Military ID (I did the 4 years for the GI College Bill) and argued that "If I'm old enough to have potentially fought, bleed, and died for my country I think I'm old enough to rent a @#$%ing hotel room."

What may help you is to have your parents reserve the room for you and contact them letting them know that you will be the one staying there. They may have to call a couple, but I'm sure that someone (perhaps a locally owned and operated one) may take you in.

Can a 17-year-old travel alone internationally? What do I need?

You shouldn’t have any problem flying internationally, or even domestically, as long as you have a valid passport. I think the only airline in the world I have flown that ever mentioned the fact I was only 17, was Alaska Airlines, and they only made me list a single emergency number. Other than that, I have never, ever been checked, or stopped, or even had my age so much as mentioned at the counter. Ignore what they say on their websites about minimum ages. I’ve even booked through Expedia (21+ according to them), and had no trouble with them at all. I’ve flown on Emirates, Delta, KLM, Air-Egypt, Royal Jordanian, Mihin Lanka, Qatar Airlines, Alitalia, British Airways, and every single US based airline, many many times. (Emirates was still the best by far).

Im 17 can i travel with my boyfriend whos over 18 without a consent form or anything?

Call the airlines you will be traveling with... Each airlines has their own policy regarding minors flying...
Age of consent is 18.... To book your own ticket without any sort of parental consent, you have to be 18.
Flying with your parents knowledge and consenting is a good idea. If you don't , you could be considered a "runaway".... I would advise you to get your parents consent . Carry a letter of thier consent.... You may even need to have it notorized. Be sure to include all the necessary information on it...Names, address, contact numbers, additional contact numbers, a neighbor, brother sister(age 18 or older) in case your parents cannot be reached in an emergency.

17 Year old flying unaccompanied to Japan?

So I officially bought my plane ticket to Japan for delta air. I will be with 2 friends that are both 18 years old but my parents will not be there. I am Not using deltas UMNR thing which is like a service for unaccompanied minors but it's not required if you're 15-17. If I am 17 with 2 18 year old friends, do I still need special paperwork an stuff to fly without my parents?
