Can A Dealer Sell A Car Without An Inspection Sticker

Can I drive a new car in Texas without the inspection sticker?

New to Texas. In Fort Hood.

I just purchased a vehicle in Houston. Turns out the dealer didn't do the inspection (but charged me for it) and he is too far from where I live to have gone back for it. He stated (in writing) that I can get it done on my own and they will reimburse me for it. (I think he screwed me)

So, basically there is no inspection for the time being and no registration or plates on the vehicle other than the paper temps. (I think I got screwed) As a matter of fact can I just go pick up some registration and plates here in my county?

Can I still drive it until the registration and plates come in? Because funny thing, as soon as I got close to home, the Check Engine light came on, so now I won't even be able to get the inspection done until that's cleared.. So, I need to know if I can still drive it.. because I will need to get it to Autozone or something and have it checked anyhow

So:
1. It has a temp plate, Can I still drive it without the emission and safety inspection sticker until registration and plates arrive? at least to Autozone

2. Can I just pick up my own Registration and Plates in person to speed it up?

Can a used car place sell a car without and updated inspection sticker in Texas?

A friend of mine just brought a used car from a used car lot in Houston. He drove it over to my house so I could check out his new ride. When I noticed that his inspection sticker had expired in February. I asked him why he didnt get that fixed B4 he brought the car. He says he didn't even notice, that he will get that done asap. My thing is how can this place do that. I thought that car lots have to have the cars they sell updated or at least update all inspection B4 selling them. Please if you know, school me on this, cuz I don't think my friend should have to pay. Even though it was dumb of him not to notice.

How much do Dealership mechanics make per inspection sticker.?

As Krystal said some mechanics get a percentage of what they do or "turn". This is why they rush. If the labor book says it takes 4 hours and they do it in 2 they get paid a percentage of 4 hours. That is how they can bank more billable hours than they actually work. It is results driven pay although you are on a time driven labor rate. They do it in 2 hours you get charged for 4. It can also work the other way. Those mechanics don't last too long.

Oh yeah, I forget the whole point of your question. The inspection sticker is purchased by the shop from the state. The pay x
The shop gets y
The mechanic gets Z
Total is inspection sticker+mechanic rate+shops cut

There is a movement to give mechanics and normal hourly check, some get bonus's on performance above book and some don't. This is supposed to stop them from doing shoddy work, but some it just breeds laziness.

Can I sell/trade a car that failed inspection to a used car dealership?

The answer is yes, you can trade anything to a dealership. We took a boat once. We have also taken cars that don't even run.

The first question, though, is whether you got the title for the car when you bought it. If not, you can't sell it to anyone. If you do not have the title, you need to do everything you can to get it.

The next question is what price you get for it. The fact that they will take it for some price does not mean you will get what you need to get for it. Do not feel obligated to tell the dealer all of the problems with the car. Let them appraise it on their own.

Before you do that, though, it would be worth a call to someone in state government to check on your rights. Since the car you bought did not pass inspection, the seller may be obligated legally to pay for the repairs.

If the seller is obligated to make the car work in your state, find a consumer group to help. There are several who help people with cars. The seller may not return your phone calls, but have someone from a consumer group call. They should do this for free.

If you got the title for the car, does it have the name and address of the seller on it? If you have an address, you also might consider suing in small claims court. You should be able to call the small claims court and ask what you need to do, but you need to be able to find the seller to serve notice. If you sue by yourself, it does not require a lawyer. The judge decides if the seller is liable.

Good luck!

What happens if a car dealer sells a car that they don't have a title for?

Car dealers are legally prohibited from selling vehicles for which they don’t have titles. If they are caught doing this, the penalties run anywhere from fines to the loss of their dealer license to arrest for dealing in stolen property. Since their dealer’s license is more valuable to them to them than the few dollars that they’ll make selling an untitled vehicle, the overwhelming majority will simply send into the state to obtain a title within a week to ten days and then sell the car.if you somehow purchase a vehicle from a dealer who doesn’t have the title, you should return it within the 72 hour limit that you have to rescind the purchase and demand that the dealer provide you with a title or that he refund your money.

No inspection sticker on my used car, I have temp plates but can't get it inspected?

Hi, I live in NJ and I bought a used car 2 days ago from a used car dealer, it's a 2009 ford fusion paid in cash and the car has no inspection sticker on the windshield, the dealer issued a NJ resident Temporary plates and registration for me right away, I drove the car home, and the next business day I drove the car to the NJ state inspection center in Secaucus, they said they won't inspect the car with temp plates and I have to wait until I get the actual registration and metal plates.

I called the MVC in Trenton, and I asked them if I can get my car inspected while under temp registration, they said NO, then I asked if I will get ticketed for driving my car that has Temp plates and registration with no inspection sticker , They said YES ! SMH ! is this some kind of govt. scam ? why they don't allow you to get inspection with your temp plates but at the same time they will blew your wallet for not having inspection while under Temp registration ?
