Can Anybody Give Me Advice About Florida Career College

College and Career choice, Please help!?

graphic design is still a good major to pursue (if you want to do art related studies) but you just have to stay away from the for-profit garbage like AI International. If you want art schools (which I don't really recommend) then look at the regionally accredited, non-profit, independent ones Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) Art Center College of Design in Pasadena CA, Fashion Institute of Technology (part of the State University of New York university system) California College of the Arts, Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt), Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Otis College of Art and Design, Parsons, Pratt, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC, not to be confused with the Art Institute chain)

There are 4 year universities that offer a design major and some of the good (or better) schools are San Jose State University (BFA in Graphic Design) Syracuse University, American University, Arizona State University, Boston University, Chapman University, CUNY City College, CUNY Queens College, Drexel University, NC State University, San Diego State University, University of Miami, University of Houston, University of Florida, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC) University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) University of Minnesota - Twin Cities campus, and Virginia Commonwealth University (supposedly has a pretty good arts school for a public type of university)

The ability to travel kind of depends on your job position, so it may or may not happen. Don't use travel as a criteria because it simply depends on the job that you can get. Sociology is an ok major, if you want to consider business jobs and maybe you can look at communications or even marketing as a major. Some of the 4 year universities I specified for graphic design also have a pretty good business school (most notably UIUC, Syracuse, San Jose, San Diego, Boston U, Minnesota, Miami and Florida).

So basically my parents are bringing me down??? College (advice)?

If you've been in college for 3 years, and still count on your parents for anything, there is no advice that can help you.

You are too far gone. You should be your own person by now.

What would be your advice for someone, without college education, looking to shift careers?

What would be your advice for someone, without college education, looking to shift careers?THIS is a very good question. For some people, college is not an option, or there just isn’t any interest in higher education, etc. I’ll answer with the presumption that you are still in HS?It depends on some factors like: Age, HS Diploma, Work History, Any Skill sets, etc, etc.It depends on YOUR level of Ambition, Motivation, Personality Type & Discipline. It depends if you are completely OPEN to Re-location / Any Where, or would rather STAY in the same 1 stop-light town?Career recommendations for those without a college degree:Business / Trade schools - start a local new Tourist business like an Florida or California Activity Company that offers: Boat Tours, SCUBA/Snorkeling, Zip-Lining, Bike & Scooter Rentals, etc, etc.Industrial Trade Schools - from Drafting to Land Surveyor to Marine Welding to Heavy Equipment Operator to Optical Laser Repair Tech to the new Windmill Technology. Then, there are 10000’s of Apprentice / Journeymen trade positions - Electrician, Plumber, Appliance Repair, Roofing, Tile Repair, etc, etc, etc.Example #1 - There is a High Tech trades school in North Dakota, that is the number one training school in the country … Google it …Example #2 - in 2015, Caterpillar in Las Vegas, was desperately searching nation-wide, for new trainee’s in Heavy Equipment, BUT, very few People were willing to move there for the training, even though the starting salary was close to 100K.There are hundred’s of 1000’s of Opportunities right now across the US … but, It All Depends on Y-O-U.So what does this point to … in the greater schemes and terms of Things & Politic’s?Answer - That One of the Biggest LIE’S in the partisan, political, Media environment are the headlines about “How immigrants are taking JOB’s away from American’s … “Why - because, immigrants DON’T get the opportunities that are listed above. Their contribution is purely manual LABOR and Domestic services.THERE just isn’t any EXCUSE for any American not to succeed … unless, you are full of Excuses ……

What is the most important piece of advice you would give to somebody who wants to become an entrepreneur?

First, I would discourage it.  Not because I'm against entrepreneurs, but because this is a very tough business.  The media and everyone makes it all sound so easy, but it isn't.  More companies fail than succeed, many more.  I would ask what makes you think you will succeed where most other people who were at least as "passionate" and "committed" as you claim to be failed.  If they tell me that they are passionate, I will tell them that is the single most ridiculous reason to become an entrepreneur, and if they really believe it, then they are certainly not ready for his.  Then I would ask them how much are they willing to give up  to be an entrepreneur.  Their house?  Their marriage?  Forgo having kids for several years?  Are they willing to risk bankruptcy?  Because these are very real possibilities when you start a company and are fully committed to it.  If you aren't willing to risk these, then you simply are not fully committed.  Once they are past that, then my suggestion is that they learn from the best.  Find a good startup to work and sign on.  See first hand what a startup is like to see if it is what you like.  Start cultivating relationships with people in the industry, particularly investors and other entrepreneurs.  It takes a long time, but that is the single best thing you can do.  After that, it's a matter of designing a company that will produce revenue.  Talk to people to get their insight because you will likely go through a dozen or more permutations of the idea in order to come up with something that will work.

Pursuing an acting career while in college studying psychology?

im in high school, and i'm starting to think alot about my future.it has always been my lifelong dream to be an actress.i absolutely love acting, and i think about it all the time. the thing is, not going to college is absolutely NOT an option for me.one, because if acting doesn't work out, i will need something to fall back on, and two, everybody in my family has a college degree.when i get out of high school, im thinking of going to school in LA so that i might have a better chance.but is it realistic to become an actress if i don't put absolutely all of my time and effort into it ?

Career as a Behavior Analyst?

Hello. I'm a junior in high school, but am planning my future ahead of time. I have an undying love for people with special needs, I took a class to help them and I went to the Special Olympics, and I am starting up volunteer work soon. I had a talk with my teacher about all of the possible careers that I could pursue that revolved around special needs, and she told me Behavior Analyst, so ever since then I have had my heart set on it.

Honestly, I've just come to ask advice on a couple of things.

What is a good college for this career? I researched Florida Tech and they have a building designed especially for behavior analysts built in, but I was hoping to find one in Texas where I live.

What are the subjects I need to study in college?

Is there anything I can do now at 17 to get started/help future resumes?

In an average day, how exactly would you explain your career, do you enjoy it?

If something is to ever occur where I cannot be a behavior analyst, what are some other careers that revolve around the special needs?

Sorry about the millions of questions, I am just very focused on this. It is completely okay if you cannot help me/answer my questions, I just thought I'd give it a shot.

Thank you so much in advance,
Natasha. :)
