I know I cant lose weight in one specific spot. Should I do more running? It did help me alot. But now Im at that point where its hard to lose more weight

Will weightlifting help with dancing?

I treated a troupe of dancers from Montreal, Quebec for several summers. Over the years we got to know each other very well. We saw not only an improvement in their form and technique, but also a reduction in injuries when they started a weight training program for the troupe. Obviously they were not doing power lifting.  They were doing lighter weights at higher reps. Overall, the weightlifting did in fact help. You are on the right track.

Does Bodybuilding/Weightlifting help with Anxiety?

I've always been active in weightlifting ever since the beginning of high school. I am now 21 and still work out but mostly do cardio. I suffer from anxiety on and off during the day. I was wondering if weightlifting and bodybuilding can help me get rid of the stress and anxiety. Is it possible for an individual to build muscle if he/she suffers from anxiety and stress? Thanks to everyone who responds.

HELP! Lifting weights with no results!?

Get a better program, sleep more, eat more:

Drink a GALLON of WHOLE milk a day. Eat plenty of eggs, lean ground beef (or other red meat), tuna, almonds, walnuts, whole-wheat pasta, multigrain bread, beans of all sorts, and plenty of raw vegetables and fruits to balance it out. You should be eating a meal every 2-3 hours and consuming between 2000-4000 calories a day. Also make sure you are getting no less then 6 hours of sleep a night.

Get a workout that looks like this, and make sure you start with a fairly heavy weight 75-100 lbs and make sure to rest at least 2 minutes between working sets (not warm up sets):
Workout A:
Squats 3 sets of 5
Bench press 3 sets of 5
Dead lift 1 sets of 5

Workout B:
Squats 3 sets of 5
Shoulder press 3 sets of 5
Power Cleans 5 sets of 3

Alternate every other day (EX: Monday – workout A, Wednesday - workout B, Friday - workout A. Next Week: Monday - workout B, Wednesday – workout A, Friday – workout A. Etc.) Add 5 lbs everyday (10 lbs to dead lifts).

You should warm up for each lift like this:
2 sets of 5 with just the bar
1 set of 5 with 25% of the weight
1 set of 3 with 50% of the weight
1 set of 2 with 75% of the weight

You can add dips to the workout if you also want prettier arms.

If you want more details about this workout you can find everything you want to know by looking up Mark Rippetoe and feel free to email me with any questions or comments.

Will weight lifting help or hurt arthritis?

Exercises for the fingers and joints are always recommended for people with arthritis. Therefore, lifting weights continuously provides grasping and releasing of the grips, which provides exercise for the fingers.

Popping and crackling of the joints has nothing to do with arthritis.

Which one between cardio or weight lifting will help anyone more reduce abdominal fat?

First off, there is nothing that helps to spot reduce abdominal fat. The only way to reduce abdominal fat is to discard overall fat. Your genetics decide where the discarded fat comes from, not what you eat or what exercises you do.Second, exercise, whether “cardio” or resistance training, has negligible effect on how much fat you discard. Look at the tables for how many calories exercises burn, and you will see this. [1]Footnotes[1] Calculate How Many Calories You Burn During Exercise

Can weightlifting help my low self esteem?

Temporarily, due to the feel good chemicals such as dopamine and serotonin released when you exercise. However, trying to gain self esteem through extrinsic means has been shown to be less successful then gaining it through intrinsic means. What I mean is, getting a better body, or a new car, won't give you as much self esteem as forming quality relationships with people, and bettering yourself in social/interpersonal situations. Because that's where low self esteem stems from: feeling inadequate compared to others. So, although weightlifting might help some, it won't solve the root of your problem, it will only mask it.

Can weight lifting help me run faster ? (sprinter)?

Definitely (if done properly)

The key is to build relative strength (strength/bodyweight) - improving strength at a greater rate than your bodyweight is increasing (or losing bodyweight at a greater rate than strength is decreasing - not that you'd want strength to decrease!).

Building absolute strength (improving strength only) without improving relative strength is useless to sprinters (and most other athletes for that matter) - this is what happens when people refer to too much bulk slowing you down (relative strength decreasing despite absolute strength increasing).

The focus for your weight training should be on free-weight (barbell or dumbbell), compound exercises (particularly those that target the posterior chain - glutes/hamstrings/lower back) and core i.e. Deadlift and squat variations, Olympic lifts (clean/snatch) and their variations, lunges, step ups, reverse hyper-extensions, bench and military press variations, chin-up/pull-up variations, rowing exercises etc. - these will give you the most bang for your buck.

I'd look at getting hold of a copy of 'Starting Strength' by Mark Rippetoe. It provides all the necessary information to get you started in weight training. A must read IMO - well worth the investment: http://www.startingstrength.com/

Does lifting weights burn fat?

Yes…and No.almost 4 years ago, I weighed over 300+ Lbs and was at about 49% Body Fat. I started weightlifting 6 days a week and eating a strict, competition-style diet. I meal prepped every week, and stuck to those foods I made religiously. I walked around with a SixPackBag (if you don’t know what those are google that shit, they’re amazing) everywhere I went. To the gym. To my work. To birthday parties. Everywhere. When it was meal time, it was meal-time. I never substituted.A year later of six days a week, with strict nutrition and no cardio I was down to 203LBs and about 14% body fat.I felt like a new man. However, I will say this. If you’re relying SOLELY on lifting weights to lose fat, then no, you probably won’t see much success. It takes a dialed in diet, and consistent application of said diet (and exercise) to successfully lose fat. These days I sit around 180, and 10% body fat, going to the gym 3 times a week. I’ve found the best ways to optimize my time and my nutrition, and really enjoy looking lean all year around with only a tiny bit of effort compared to the beginning. If you’re curious how I did that, drop a comment, shoot me an email, and I’d be happy to help.Hope this helps!
