For people out there who are Glee friends, the episode where Quinn tells Rachel she is dating Finn and hurts Rachel (season 2), Rachel cries and starts writing her song "Get in Right" in her bedroom. There is a song that plays in the back ground as she's crying and writing. It's all piano and it's short and kind of sad. Does anyone know where I can find that music or what it's called? Why don't they play Glee cover songs on radio?
We have to consider what most of the radio audience wants to hear regularly. My reaction to most Glee covers is 'that's a nice cover' on first listen, but outside of the story context I rarely want to keep hearing it instead of the original.There are some exceptional circumstances. Just before Glee was first shown in the UK, I believe we were first to playlist their version of 'Don't Stop Believing' - it was a breakthrough event and a popular song, and turned out to be a massive hit. Today we feel that the audience sees the Glee version as a nice novelty for very occasional play. while there is good demand still for the original.Radio often concentrates too much on playlists and regular scheduling, I think. We should always be looking for ways to share excitement with listeners. One way to do this (at the cost of more work and occasional mis-steps) is to have exceptional spot plays of ear-grabbing records. We like to do this when a Glee song really stands out.
