Koi Fish Fat?
My koi fish died a year ago or so, and it was one of the best koi fish i ever had. I wanted to figure out what was the problem, i do need your help.. It was a silver koi and it was energetic and healthy, but all of a sudden it got fat, but it wasn't pregnant. We found the med for it, but it didn't do anything at all. Does that mean it was pregant? It seemed brownish things came out from the scale.. I thought poop was stuck to it...is it guts?

Its not that they don't clean down there. When you are over weight the extra weight builds up and causes 'roles' (sorry I know that's rude but I couldn't find another way to say it). The skin that is in the creases is basically smothered and stays hot so it sweats. A skinny person may only need 1 bath a day where as an over weight person may need 2 or three because of the extra sweating they do in between there 'roles'.
Is my fish unnaturally fat?
I can't comprehend how anybody could say it's pregnant, considering Chinese Algae Eaters lay eggs; they do not get pregnant (maybe semantics). The shape of the abdomen is definitely not normal. I had a gold variety of the same fish with the same problem, and am fairly certain it is dropsy. These fish have fine scales (similar to Catfish and Loaches), and any medication, salt, or other contaminants in the water will affect them more adversely than other fish. The best thing to do in this case would be more frequent water changes, and add 1/4 teaspoon of epsom salt per 10 gallons. There is also a possibility that it is an infestation of internal parasites multiplying out of control, leading to the bulging. If this is the case, the fish will tend to pass stringy, white feces, or none at all. Metronidazole, Flagyl, Hexamit, or similar medications should be used, and if possibly, be added to the fish's food (if it is still eating). Remove any activated carbon from the filter during treatment. Best of luck with the little guy.
How can you tell your black molly fish is pregnant?
Mollies are prolific breeders. If you have males and females together, they will mate. No help needed from you or anyone else. Now, when they get pregnant, normally you would look for the gravid spot. This is a small spot on their belly near the rear of them. It turns darker the closer they are to giving birth. What you are seeing is actually the fry's eyes. However, since your mollies are black, this is not going to help. Best bet is to just let them be. Make sure that you have some small live pants in your tank like hornwort or anacharis so that the small fry can hide from the mom after they are born since she will eat them. If you keep checking the tank you should see some and be able to get them into a separate tank before she has a chance to eat them all. :) Also be aware that a female can give birth to as many as 40 fry at one time and that she can give birth 3-4 times from one mating. So even if you separate the female and male mollies now, the females will probably still have more babies in another month or so. If you want the babies, make sure that you have fry food for them to eat since normal flake food is too large for them. You could try to grind the flake food into powder, but the fry food is better than that. Also make sure that you have a tank that is set up for them. Best bet is one with a sponge filter so that they can pick at the sponge filter as a supplemental food source and so that they do not get sucked into a power filter or a canister filter. Raising the fry is the easy part. Having somewhere to keep them is the hard part. Good luck!! :)
Why can the Chinese eat a lot and not get fat?
I actually wondered about this question myself yesterday and got the answer.I was at a massage yesterday and my masseuse was a very beautiful and skinny Chinese girl. We started talking and I found out she is a mother of 2 at the age of 24 but she only weighs 104 lbs!I am Chinese American myself but I haven’t seen that number on my scale since I have left the yellow school bus days behind. So I asked her how she managed to stay so slim. At first she responded the same way every Chinese skinny girl would which is “oh it’s just genetics” so instead I asked her for a breakdown of what she eats. And this is what she says “I actually eat a lot usually 5–6 meals a day. I eat oatmeal and apple for breakfast, cooked vegetables and some noodles for lunch, snack on fruits throughout the day and end the day with some fish and more veggies and a bowl of rice. I usually finish dinner by 7pm clean up and get back to work. I don’t eat meat too much and I NEVER snack because I need to save money for my children. Also I work here 12–14 hours a day if I’m not massaging people I am cleaning.”Just to give you a frame of reference, my day looks something like this: I have a giant shake in the morning almond milk, kale, fruits and I have an egg on the side. My lunch consists of leftovers from the night before sandwhich, ramen, takeout, or rice and chicken, dinner is usually a soup, quesadilla, sandwich, Chinese takeout and fruits.Not too bad right? So why am I 40 lbs more than her? Oh it’s because I forgot to mention the “occasional” Starbucks fraps, a bag of chips, a piece of cookie or 5 from the office, some ice cream in the evening and those weekend drinks oh boy I love those sangrias, mimosas. I have a bubble eye fish that is quite fat but i dont know if it is pregnant, how can i tell?
i have 2 black moores,1 normal goldfish, 1 fantail,2 bubble eye fish, 1 baby fantail and 1 baby black moore. Like i said i dont know if the bubble eye fish is pregnant, even though it is quite fat. The normal goldfish and fantail i think have concave vents, (i think some other fish do to) but can they breed with a bubble fish? Please help me as i have no clue if my fish is pregnant.
