Can Birth Control Pills Really Help With Acne If So Could A 14 Year Old Girl Take Them

Birth control pills for 15 year old?

I am a firm believer that if your child is open enough to come to you and ask you for birth control, and you choose not to give it to them, then whatever happens in the future cannot be blamed on lack of communication on thier part, nor could it be considered a surprise. I would definitely talk to them, let them know what introducing sex into their life means, both physically and emotionally, let them know about their new responsibilities , and then take them to the doctor and get their birth control (I would consider the shot for a teenager, as it takes out the possibility of them not being consistent with the pill and having an unplanned pregnancy). I understand that you believe your daughter, and I don't want to imply that you have a reason not to. However, we know that although less cramps and clearer skin are great SIDE EFFECTS of the pill, the pill was created for a more base purpose, and regardless of her reasoning, this talk should happen, and if she balks at the idea, then tell her that if she is not ready to talk about it, that you hope she understands that she is not ready for sex, and although we would move forward with the birth control, hopefully she will practice abstinence until she can. Blessings.....

Is is okay for a 14 year old to take birth control pills?

Yes, most 14-year-olds can take birth control without any side effects. I work in a medical office & see it prescribed for girls as young as 12. Scary thought, but it's better than seeing a young child come in to be treated for pregnancy.

14 Year Old Girl On Birth Control. Good or Bad Idea?

Just tell her something like this, or at least this is how I had to do it with my mom...

"Hey, mom, I was wanting to know something. Since my periods have been so irregular, or heavy, whatever, I have been doing some research online. I have read that birth control could help with this problem. I have also heard that a bonus would be that it would help my acne problem. I don't plan on becoming sexually active because I want to get through high school and college (even if this is a stretch, she will respect you for wanting education). If its ok with you, could I get some birth control to help with my period problems and acne?"

This worked really well for my mom. But birth control is prescribed many times for those problems that you mentioned. The doctor will probably want to do a head to toe check up on you first though to make sure you don't have any kind of heart problems or blood pressure problems because birth control can aggrivate these problems.

Should birth control be available for girls under 15 years old?

Anyone who thinks people start having sex at some magic age simply is not dealing with a full deck of cards. Birth control should be made available PRIOR to puberty. Girls can come into puberty VERY young. Some men also go into puberty very young. For me it was 10, and 10 was NORMAL back in the 1970’s, so imagine today with so many “early” pubescent children. Birth control, comprehensive sex education, and complete vaccination of any sexually transmitted diseases (such as HPV) should be everyone’s birth right.

Birth control pills?? =]?

Birth control can be used to treat many different things including acne, long menstrual cycles, heavy bleeding, cramps, PCOS, anemia and PMDD. I myself am on it, not for pregnancy protection, but because of my heavy, long, painful period. There are possible side effects of birth control. it increases the risks of some cancers, and increases the risk of blood clots (especially if you're over 35 years old...which you're not...and if you smoke). However, it decreases the risk of other cancers. It can also cause nausea, increased breast size, and mood swings. Nausea can be solved by eating when you take the pill. Other side effects can be recorded by your doctor and your doctor will switch birth control brands until they find the one that is right for you....and does not cause any bad side effects. As for fat, that is absolutely NOT true. It is true that oral contraceptives can cause bloating but this will go away within the first three months. It does not cause weight gain. Oral contraceptives used to cause weight gain when the dose of estrogen was a lot higher. After doctors realized they could drop the dose of estrogen down and still have it as effective, they started using low dose birth control. Low dose does not have enough estrogen to cause permanent weight gain. You are only prescribed a higher dose if low dose does not work, all the low dose birth controls will be exhausted before they give you a high dose.

Can birth control work for acne on guys?

It's harmless. It is a female hormone. Don't do it. It will mess up your body and negate what puberty is doing for your body.

There are lots of pill form medications out there for acne I took one years ago and it worked. Try Dr. Bronners Magic Soap (my favorite is peppermint) and you can get it at Target. Talk to your doctor and be sure to eat with the pill they give you as some of them make you queasy if you don't take them with food.

What are some opinions on a 14-year-old taking birth control for fibroids/endometriosis?

If she truly has these conditions and they are bad, then yes - give her some relief but make sure a qualified doctor who understands these conditions is overseeing this. It’s important to note that Endometriosis can only be legally and officially diagnosed via laparoscopy. A surgeon must be able to see the tissue to diagnosis its presence. For instance, I have had the surgeries and officially am diagnosed with endometriosis. My daughter has never had the surgeries, but her symptoms and her genetics make it likely that she has it. Still, it is not proven or confirmed without surgery.Early hormonal manipulation during puberty can present some longer term problems. You want to do some serious research, get 2–3 opinions and make an educated choice. I would weigh it against how debilitating her condition is. At about age 16, I was called up by my daughter’s school to come get her, because she was found screaming on the bathroom floor. Her pain was extreme and crippling for someone who’d only had her period a couple years. By age 18/19, my daughter was on progesterone to help her. It’s a temporary measure. It is not a cure for endometriosis, and it is not a good long-term solution either, but it can reduce the extremity of the symptoms. It is not humane to allow someone to suffer so greatly. Sometimes we have to hang onto temporary relief efforts until we can get the surgery needed to provide better relief, better function and better quality of life. It’s not ideal to be on hormone treatment, but we don’t get to pick our genetics.

What would happen to a man if he took birth control pills?

Birth control pills contain progestin and/or estrogen. These are typically referred to as female sex hormones, but men also make these hormones in much smaller amounts. One or two birth control pills would not be enough to alter the hormones in a man’s body. However, if he took birth control on a regular basis then he can throw his body out of wack:When a man has TOO MUCH estrogen he may experience:Loss of muscle mass, enlarged breasts & increased abdominal fatSexual dysfunction (low libido, decreased morning erections, decreased erectile functionFatigue and tirednessEmotional disturbances, especially depressionAnyone taking oral contraceptives is also at risk of:nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea, constipationgingivitis (swelling of the gum tissue)increased or decreased appetiteweight gain or weight lossbrown or black skin patches; acnehair growth in unusual placesbreast tendernessLong story short, don’t take oral contraceptives as a guy. They’re not made for us. Also, if the male partner takes female contraceptives, they will not prevent a pregnancy.

HELP. 14 year old with really bad acne. please answer!?

The causes of ACNE can be complicated...the only sure way to properly diagnose the cause and effectively treat is to see a dermatologist. Most over the counter stuff is not effective and is rarely used correctly---not your fault---the manufacturers are not interested in educating you---only selling their product. I suffered with it for many years in my early teens until I finally got help later in high school. Don't let it have a negative effect on your confidence!! See a licensed Dr.
