Technically, no. Realistically, yes.The Supreme Court has ruled that officers are allowed to stop and question people on the street if they have reasonable cause to believe that they have just committed a crime, are in the process of committing a crime, or have just committed a crime. In such a case, if there is "articulable suspicion" that they may be armed and dangerous, the officers can conduct a brief search of their outer clothing for weapons.In principle, this should only apply to egregious cases where it's obvious a crime is in progress or about to occur and the police are trying to prevent it. In practice, there's enough stretch in words like "reasonable" and "suspicion" that it's easy for police to get in the habit of frisking anyone they consider to be suspicious. The search is supposed to be superficial and only for weapons, but if the police happen to come across contraband (such as drugs), then that becomes admissible evidence, which gives officers plenty of incentive to frisk anyone they think might be carrying something illegal. This became somewhat notorious in New York City, where the police had an unofficial "stop and frisk" policy where people on the street (overwhelmingly young, black men) would be stopped, questioned and searched. Much of the time, nothing was found, and the justification for their "articulable suspicion" was often something as vague as "furtive movements". At least one judge questioned this, asking whether the movements of young, black men were more furtive than everyone else's.The point is, if a police officer thinks you look suspicious, they have quite a bit of latitude in deciding to stop you and search you. Even if they push somewhat beyond the bounds of the rules, they're unlikely to be seriously punished for it, as long as they can show some kind of justification.

My two friends & I were walking to a convenient store across the road from our school (literally across the road), School starts at 7:05. It wasn't even 7 yet so we decided we would wait for my friend to come across the road to walk. Once she got to us we started walking, this lady cop pulls up asks us what we're doing and we tell her. We're walking to Circle K, she gets out opens the back seat and says get in. We're all like what the hell? But since she was an officer it isn't like we're going to be rude and refuse to get in. So we get in and my friend asks if she's taking us back to the school, She says no. She takes us to the truancy office and said we were skipping school. She also said that she heard the bell ring right before she picked us up. Three bells ring in the morning, the first bell at 6:55, the warning at 7:00 and the late bell at 7:05. she must have heard the second bell assuming it was the late bell. So we get to the truancy office she takes all of our backpacks and sets them on the back of her car, then she pats us down. I know that she's allowed to do that. But then she closes the doors leaves us in the back and starts going through our backpacks. Is she allowed to do that? First off, she had no probable cause that we had anything illegal on us. Second off, she didn't call our parent's or even ask our age. So? Is she allowed or not? I missed a whole school day and was put on truancy for NO reason. So I wanna get this old hag. let me know?

If they smell weed, YES. They are allowed to search your trunk. This comes under the category of “ Reasonable Suspicion” and hence the officer will not require to get a search warrant signed by a judge to search your carDon’t smoke weed in your car, atleast not while you are about to drive . Also, every state has a limit of how much weed is OK to be let go with just a ticket or with no ticket at all. Anything above that can land you in trouble. Although a bit harsh, some people even get arrested if excessive weed is found in their car. Many police officers just take away your weed ( seize it) and some will destory the weed pipe in front of you and would let you off with a warning. Some would write you a ticket. Some can arrest you as well, in accordance with the state laws. Of course, for all that your car has to smell like weed!. If you have done it, the car will smell like it for sure!

Can I (a 16 year old boy) get charged with harassment for something I havnt done?
5 months ago I saw this girl at the gym and I finally found her on instagram (a social media site) and I thought she was same age or close to same age as me. So we talked on kik and texting. About 3 weeks ago her sisters texts me and tells me to stop talking to her because she is young and she says that me and her had sex and used drugs because of how she acts. But I have never talked to her in person. Her sister said we went on many dates with me (wich we didnt). Now her mom is texting me and telling me thatshe is going to file harassment charges on me. Keep in mind im still a miner, im only 16 and she is 13. Before she texts me, she went a on ask.fm( a site wich people can ask questions anonymously) and wrote this "listen dude, you need to not type another word to cassie or the president of the hells angles (wich is a motorcycle group) will show up at your house." So I want to see if I am in any LEGALL trouble and I also want to know if she threaten me with what she said.

Can a police officer open my mail i've recived through the internet with all its proper packaging and stamps still in tact? For example a pack of golf balls odered online thats been sitting on my desk never opened? And if they had a search warrant would it make a difference?
