Can I Be 18 And Have My Own Credit Card

Can a 13-year-old get a debit or a credit card?

In the UK not a Credit Card. You have to be over 18 to hold a Credit Card. You may hold a debit card which usually doubles as an ATM card, however you will only be allowed to draw the amount of cash you have in the bank account. As a minor (I am sorry of the word irritates you, but it is a legal expression) you can only hold a Deposit Account, or a Current Account and the latter having no overdraft facility. In short you cannot enter any form of contract for an overdraft or loan, whether that be in the form of a “Term Loan”, i.e. a fixed amount borrowed of a fixed period by instalments; or a “revolving loan” which is in effect a Credit Card or an Overdraft.Indeed (in English Law) there are only certain contracts which are binding on minors or they can enter. However other contracts can be entered but there is no legal recourse by the person who provided the service which you were due to pay or in turn provide. Again in English Law it comes under the Consumer Rights Act 2016 (a consolidation of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and other Consumer Regulations, including the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and others). There are certain laws relating to “the contract of minors” again a Section in the Sale of Goods Act 1979, which means that if the vendor knows that the person is below the age of 18 and sells goods to them, their rights of recourse are lower than a person over the age of 16. There are other provisions within the Act which relate to the rights of minors to have certain material items which are a necessity for their safety or well being.Doubtless American Law has similar Statute.

Can I get a credit card if im under 18?

My understanding is that you can NOT get your own credit card while under the age of legally being able to enter into a contract in the country in which you live. The problem is you could take a card run the balance up then say you're not paying, they try to take you to court and the court would invalidate the contract as you were not legally able to sign it. I have seen this happen before. I believe under the legal age for your country you could only sign a contract of some kind with a co-signer of legal age.

What credit card should I apply for if I just turned 18?

You should start slowly but surely. Don't go all crazy and apply to too many credit cards. Just open one, at least for right now.I don’t know your background, but it's going to be tough to get one (a good one). Not impossible though, so you have a few options. One option is to ask one of your parents, or maybe even some close relative, to add you as an authorized user on one of their already open credit lines. In most cases that is going to help you start building your credit history and score. You'll get your one physical credit card and you can start using it immediately. Just be mindful of your usage.Another option is to go to one of the big banks (Chase, Citi, Bank of America) and open a secured credit card. That means you need to deposit an amount of money first (that's going to be your limit). The secure credit card is going to act like a normal credit card. After a year or two, depending on your credit history that you recently built, the bank will return your money. And eventually increase your limit. There is another way, but I don't recommend this due to the high fees and penalties involved if you're not paying attention to deadlines and limits. A store card can be a good credit card to start with, but requires more attention because of the reasons I mentioned before. After you get your first credit card you have to start using it thoughtfully, keeping in mind that building a credit history and score takes time and effort. If you can, always pay in full your debt. Don't use more than 30% of your limits and don't apply for many credit cards in a short period of time. These are the basics that woud lead to a smooth transition to a good credit user, so …. Best of Luck !!!

I'm under 18. Can I get a debit card?

Heck yes !But ….There's a catch ! You need to have guardian with you ( and he/she needs to be somebody like your father or mother )I'm 15, turning 16 , and I have a axis bank debit card for the last 2 years . Yup , it's easy , I just went to the branch with my mother, provided them address and other things and boom , I got the ekyc paper 1 month after that via post and the card after another month. It's easy and safe . Also most banks doesn't want to provide kids with cheques because most of them won't be able to sign correctly and won't fill it accordingly . So you can visit your nearest axis bank for a bank account !!!

Victoria's Secret Angels Credit Card?

With any credit card, you have to be an authorized user on the account to use it, whether your mom says you can or not. If you try to use her card & sign her name, it's fraud & you can get into trouble. CC companies only let the authorized users use it to protect themselves. If your mom sees the purchase on it & doens't remember buying it & askes the store for a copy of her sig. & it's not hers , then, they can pull up the surveillance footage in the store & see it wasn't her & they would be liable (as well as you will be in trouble) So, they protect themselves by only allowing those who were stated to use it. My advice, either get your own card or , just have your mom put you on hers as an authorized user. Then, they will send one in the mail with your name on it & you will not have to worry about any problems. You have to be 18, though to have your own credit card, so, if you are under 18, just have her add you as a signer/user. You could give it a try & hope they don't catch you, but, if they do, you'll be in trouble (b/c you are using someone else's card).

My parents took my credit card away and I am 18 years old? What can i do?

I am a POS associate at Kohls and i am now making my own money. A month into working, my parents took my credit card away from me because i spent like 29.99 bucks at the cheesecake factory. On tuesdays and thursdays i have classes 9 AM to 9 PM, and i only survive on one meal because i cant use my credit card. When i ask for money, they dont give it to me. I can only use it for textbooks and not personal needs like clothes or outside food. The only reason i started working was so i can provide for myself because my parents would not. They took my car keys away because they don't believe i have a night class. i can;t hang out with my friends or anything. They are taking over my life. I am a legal adult...can they take away my money that i have worked for?
