Can I Change My Birth Certificate From My Stepdad To My Biological Dads Name

Is it a crime to put a man's name on a birth certificate when he is not the child's father, and he did not consent for his name to be put on the birth certificate?

Yes, but highly unlikely to be prosecuted unless she's silly enough to tell people she committed fraud.Back in the 80s the country I was living in was putting pressure on unwed mothers to name a father so that they could claim child support from them instead of relying on the state.  The mother would sometimes name the richest guy in the village as the father so she'd get a better amount of child support. It would then be up to the guy to spend $1000 on a paternity test to prove that he wasn't the father.  In the meantime, he'd still be paying child support, and child support isn't refundable under any circumstances (until that point, he is legally the father, with all that entails.)This is one of the legal loopholes where you can be made out of pocket  by a significant amount for no fault of your own and no recourse to get it back.

Can I remove my stepfathers name from my birth certificate?

I found out my "dad" wasn't my biological father when I was 16. The only reason I found out the truth is because I found a death certificate for my biological father. It took me a while to confirm it. But a DNA test later proved he wasn't my father.

I made contact with my grandparents when I was 18 (2 years ago) to the annoyance of my mother and stepfather (they aren't great parents anyway, so I don't really care). Since then, I have learned a lot about my real dad and I found out he would have loved to have had me. Apparently he didn't even know he was going to become a dad when he died.

The more I think about it, the more I want my stepfathers name removed from my birth certificate. He never adopted me. But because they got married during the pregnancy, his name went on it.

Can I get it removed? Would it be possible to put my real dads name on it if I can?

How to change (adopted) name back to (original) birth name?

I was adopted, legally, by my step-father when I was 4. I am now 48 and have been married 26 years. I want to change my name BACK to my birth name. I have no desire to change any other document except my birth certificate. I had a horrible relationship with my stepfather for my entire life. I have a relationship with my real father and want to change it back to his name. There is LOTS more to this story, but that's basically it. No one will know except for me and my family. It's more of a healing measure for me at this point. Any recommendations?

In Florida can you choose a different last name than the biological parents for an unborn child when it's born

I am about 8 months pregnant, and unmarried. I am however moving into a new place with the baby's father. I do not want to give the child my last name. My boyfriend doesn't want to give our daughter his last name. Both of our reason's are the same. Neither on of our biological fathers' showed an interest in our upbringing. Out of respect he would like to give our baby his step father's last name. I am opposed because I am a traditionalist and believe the baby should carry the father's last name reguardless of the cirumstances. He is really pushing for us to try and put his step father's name on the birth certificate at the hospital after our baby is born. I have contacted a lawyer and asked them if this could be done. They told me that the last name could not be any other than the last of the biological parents/legal guardians. Basically, I just want to make sure the lawyer was infact correct with what he told me. That this can't be done. Thanks for all the responses.

I hate my last name because I hate my dad, what should I change it to?

The beauty about it is you can change it to pretty well what ever you like. You’re breaking off the family tie and creating a new one. When you change your last name you are distancing yourself from your previous family as if you were never apart of them. That’s a good thing. Go with a name that has no affiliation with your roots or any connectivity with your current last name. For example Evans my last name. Charly Goodman or Charles Bronson lol. See i hate my dad, My brother and sister too. They hate me so i hate them back. I’m also considering changing my last name. I haven’t spoke to my so called family in over 12 years no phone calls from them no birthday, christmas cards no nothing. Me changing my last name will make it all so much easier when they die. When my so called dad dies which is going to be very shortly i hope i will be extremely happy. You may want to change your looks as well. You got your looks from your father and i’m sure you don’t want any part of him on your skin so make some minor improvements (Surgery) on your face breaking away any ties to your father even more. When you change your last name heck why not change your first and last name. too. Your father gave you your first name. Go all out change your first and last name. In Ontario Canada it only cost 25 dollars to change your last name. It wouldn’t cost any more to change your first name. Once all that is done move away from the poison and start fresh and new. Have you ever seen the movie sleeping with the enemy?Julia Roberts was great in it. She fakes her death and changes her appearance and even her first and last name. Hey that might be a better solution. Fake your death. Legally change your first and so it will literally be impossible for him to find you that’s if he ever decides to. He won’t be looking for you because he will assume you’re dead lol. If he ever found out some how he would be so pissed off that his own flesh and blood that he betrayed has actually betrayed him in the worst possible way. Disregarding his fatherhood from birth to present as if he never existed. Double Jeopardy is another good movie. The husband fakes his own death and changes his first and last name. Of course in that movie he did it for the wrong reasons and that was to frame his wife for a crime he commited.

Claiming my biological father's unclaimed money...?

I recently found out that my deceased biological father has unclaimed money in another state. However, when my mother remarried, her husband (my step dad) adopted me. This changed the birth father name on my birth certificate. She has copies of my original birth certificate with my biological father on it. But it is just a photo copy. Will there be an issue proving my relation to him?
