Can I Do Mba Now Im Already 26 .

Should I get an MBA?

I'm 26 and have a degree in health administration that I have done absolutely nothing with. I got a full ride (thank god i'm debt free) scholarship to college that I totally took for granted and spent most of my undergraduate time partying instead of studying. Being extremely naive at the time, I figured I'd be able to walk right into a 60k/yr job and work my way right up. HA!!! Most jobs I was qualified for paid 15/hr. So I've basically spent the last several years in a series of sales jobs. I've made good money, but I'm not a superstar salesperson so I'm not really seeing a path for myself to a six figure salary. My real dream is to start a business, but realistically that's at least 7-10 years off. Is there more value in an MBA or should I continue to grind it out in sales until I have the money to start my own thing?

Is 28 years too old to persue MBA in India?

It's it too late to do MBA?No.It's it possible to get into to 20 college in India?Yes.Do you have any advantage over others?Yes.You have work experience. You know how things work in industry. So you will be able to all right(or better) question.You can relate concepts to real life implementation.You are 28. You have maturity by your side. That will help you stay focused. Note this can go against you as well. Even recruiters will expect clearer thoughts from you.Being technical:You have 2 years of experience, that means you are still working. Will you be able to give enough time on studies with your work and family commitment? Note, it will take some time for you to get used to studying again.You will be competing with younger people. Are you up to put that extra effort to match their enthusiasm?You've been working for 2 years so you must have good package. Will you be able to sustain those years without income? Remember, no matter how much money your have in bank, that one sms at month start (end for some) will be missed. It hurts when regular flow of income breaks.You are 28. I'm sure by now, your family must have started looking for your partner. Sure your parents are very supportive, but are you sure they can answer society's question and bare their comments? Note that if you go to study now, you will have to delay your marriage by at least 3 years.Money: I have 2 years of experience. If I keep working, I may reach SSE or even TL. Will going for an MBA boost my career? Will the work, the life I'll get after MBA, worth the risk?I have tried to points as they would weigh in my decision making process.Remember, there are too many variables in life. Do consider them before making decision.Best of luck.

I'm 26, I always had only one dream, to do MBA from an IIM, previous attempts didn't work. Am I too late now?

Ha ha !! I think i am the best person to answer this.No my friend, one is never late to fulfill one’s dream, if there ain’t any external restrictions like age and all. I myself joined IIM Shillong regular 2 yr PGDM program after 5 yrs of work ex at the age of 28. And m not alone there are many others in my batch as well as you can see that in other top institutes. And barring very few profiles, I never faced any issues either in Summers or in Finals. And to motivate you, I am now working in a profile I most wanted totally different from my previous work-ex. So age doesn’t totally matter, if you have potential to achieve what you dream of. Hope i was able to answer your query.Happy to help!!

Is 26 too old to pursue MBA/PGDM?

No, you are not too old for MBA. All premier institutes give weightage for work experience. But your work experience may not consider as it is too short. Most of people in premier institutes have work-ex and people who have work-ex have an average age of 25. IIM Raipur is the one of IIMs with low percentage of experienced students and even there is at least 60% of people have work experience. Always there will people who are older than you if you join now in any premier business school. Don’t worry, you are still young for MBA.

Is 26 too old of an age to do an MBA in India?

It depends on the current profile, compensation and job you have if you see this only from ROI perspective. So this may not be entirely applicable to you if you are already in strong position w.r.t. job or profile.  I enrolled for MBA in IIMA at exactly 26 years that too after I was married at 23. I had 4+ years of IT experience and was looking forward to onsite opportunities which was not bad at that time. Looking back, I feel I have made a great decision which saw my compensation turn 6 times of my earlier one and the profile, role etc. that I perform bring more respect as well professionally. Moreover, IIMA Alumnus tag is totally worth doing MBA at ANY age not just 26. I am sure it would be similar even if you do from other reputed colleges as well. I'd take the same decision anytime.From experience perspective, yes you may feel odd among the younger group of people and may feel some alienation or misplaced perceptions by some. Ignore them and focus on what you came for. It will be alright.From studying perspective, at 26 one might find it difficult to get back into study mode (rigorous in some colleges) in early period. But it will pass with some focus, determination to do well and more importantly fear of failure :)Placements - Unless you have Finance background in previous job/education odds are low that you'd get into lucrative positions in IBanks or others. But you would definitely get good roles with better designation and compensation. Good part - you can escape some uncomfortable things others face in 1st year ;)So, 26 is  not old. I have done it. So can you. Go for it!

I am 26 and currently pursuing my MBA. How do I prepare for civil services?

Without wasting much of your time, go to UPSC and download previous year papers. At least you can have a fair idea of what they want from a candidate. You can also get some famous books online. Start reading on weekends and spare time of your day.Also be punctual and disciplined to your motto, its always required to conquer any exam. Once you get familiar to the syllabus, go for coaching classes or at least a GOOD TEST  SERIES. This gives you your level in the competition.An action is better than inaction. Rest trust god and work hard.All the best.

Is it ok to do MBA at the age of 26 especially for a girl?

Why does it come with a tagline ‘Especially for a girl’ ! What difference does the gender make here in education ?Second, Age is a trivial matter and would no where come in between of your capabilities and your dedication. This is great time for you to take an action towards your goals and aspirations, and if MBA being the path, Its the perfect time of your life to introspect and contemplate over this, figure out career opportunities and chop out a plan for next 3 years of your life. If this is something that enthralls you, don’t restrict yourself with such things that wouldn’t even matter when you are all up there, with such content heart and mind. As flexible we are for clothes, furniture and our personal life, why not career ? If not this time, then when ? This is the time to shape your life and be flexible to take changes good for us!Now, coming to the MBA part. I am not quite sure about how your educational journey have been. If you have not been in touch with studies, it is going to demand a lot of your hard work and efforts. There will be times when you’d lose your motivation to study and that’s when the time checks upon you. Stay there and try to complete what you started of. Never let some outer factors be a reason for you to quit. Make sure you don’t break the flow and be as dedicated as required by these management entrances.Refer to as many education portals as possible and make a strategy to cut down your preparation in parts. Practice as much as you can and you are all set to sail the boat!With the right efforts, time-bound practice, effective planning, and a composed attitude, you can not only take these exams head on, but also come out with flying colors.Go ahead! Why are my parents babying me? IM IN HIGH SCHOOL!?

adding to what have been said by michi, saggezza, glam4me and babbio;

i believe you are most precious thing that has happened to your parents. you are the light of their life. you give them pride because of you being to and for them.

my mom do the same for me. at present i live 1700 kms from my hometown. i'm 26 and doing my MBA, she still wakes me up in the morning. and every night she says goodnight to me, on phone; as she used to do all these things, when i was a baby, kid, teen.

i love it. you'll regret, if you stop them, later in your life, when they'll be not there for you; by understanding what you missed.
